  1. No. Classical orchestras are just big covers bands. Non writing members of original bands are really playing covers too. Not parasites, not a lower class of musician in any way.
  2. that's a shame. It's will probably come off my list now. I might just have to save up for the Berg HP Forte and be done with it.
  3. I really want to try one of the Laney heads. The demos sound great. But I really don’t care about looks.
  4. I was not impressed by the GHS Pressurewound B string. The others were very nice, but the B was bloody awful.
  5. Prices are on Thomann V12 - £1098 V7 - £789 V3 - £499 Cab prices for the 2x12 and 4x10 are within £50 of Barefaced equivalents, but the power handling is only about 50% of BF. But then again 500W/600W handling isn't inadequate for 90% of gigs.
  6. The Pacato ones are not a patch on the proper ones. But it's quite normal to take plugs out when talking and put them in again when playing. If you do get the proper ones then having the optional extra of the grips makes that a lot easier than without. All ear protection of any type is a compromise as no matter the method it is something in the way of the original soundwave, but the ACS are the best passive option. Dynamics are reduced no matter what passive method is used - that's part of the needed process to provide more protection from high pressure transient sounds. The active option is to move to IEMs where your ears are blocked and you get a personal monitor mix set up just for you. but that's quite a bit more money and equipment to buy and carry around with you. It really is a simple choice between protecting your hearing or not. But if you don't then it won't be long before everything sounds awful and you need to lip read when watching the TV.
  7. Also - I really hope that any fan system they use is actually a silent one.
  8. The demos sound really good. What are the Ampeg 1 knob compressors like? I'm always on the lookout for good amps with good built in compressors!

  10. I play mostly 4 as most of the stuff I've been playing has been written for a 4, but that being said, I'm almost always playing with transposing instruments and I'm quite often in Eflat so having an extra string certainly opens up options. The extra string is also very handy if there is no actual bass part and I'm having to try to read the bass clef on the piano part. If there's a descending run that goes below E then it can be a bit jarring to just octave jump for 1 or 2 notes, especially if the rest of the arrangement is all going in 1 direction. A 5 is excellent for that.
  11. Unfortunately the Pacato versions didn't fit my ears. Apparently my ear canals are a bit too big. The 16 attenuation level is quite low so the noise might still be too loud, but at least it will give you a good idea. The full custom ones are great - speech comes through fine and the loud stuff is limited. They are very clever indeed.
  12. If his hearing is shot then him swapping to in ears to have a perfect but quieter mix for him could save him loads of even worse trouble. The ACS process is great. You buy, you get a voucher. You book in at a local authorised place - often in a Boots Chemist and get the ear impressions done. They send them off and a few weeks later they arrive in the post. I have Pro17 and Pro26 filters as they are the flattest options. I usually wear the Pro26 if I'm anywhere near a drummer.
  13. I've had some older Joyo's without any problems. I'm sure it's just a one off. It's a great sounding pedal otherwise.
  14. Link ACS Custom Pro Series https://acscustom.com/uk/
  15. Get some made properly by ACS. They will fit your ears perfectly and you can swap the filters in them for different attenuation levels. The attenuation will be pretty flat too - just like having a lower volume. Your singer is killing his hearing. You'll be needing a new one at some point.
  16. Mine is going back. It’s got a really annoying crackle noise. It sounds great so I’ll go for a swap.
  17. I’m slightly suspicious of any demo that has a louder volume when an effect is activated. Louder is better, even subconsciously, so that is not an honest tone presentation.
  18. Selling a very nice Ampeg compressor. It’s a very musical traditional circuit. It’s not a super squishy one. has some dual lock on the bottom. All working as it should. No box. £55 including uk tracked delivery.
  19. Answer in already. Yes, it will work with the GZR set, and will need a battery.
  20. I’ve got a passive bass that is afflicted, so I’ve emailed EMG too.
  21. Mine just arrived. I like it! It’s not as high gain as the B3K and the overall character is slightly different, but for £50, can’t go wrong!
  22. @Hellzero I know. I was more worried that the OP might spend money on something that didn’t work for him.
  23. If you are that confident in your advice, go right ahead. You could buy some irrelevant moving goalposts while you are at it.
