  1. Lovely! I keep thinking about a second one - especially as they now do a J type shortie.
  2. I bought The Accountant. I am liking it very much. It's a bit too dirty when played alone at home but when playing along with CDs it's lovely. I just need a band to try it out properly!
  3. I've been looking for that sound in a pedal for ages. I think the Fairfield 'The Accountant' gets very close indeed.
  4. I can't see why it would cause any problems but I also can't see any noise advantages either. Start with a really low signal from the MXR and ease it up slowly. What sort of noise are you getting?
  5. I think you mean bypass the preamp. Just go board into the FX return. That will bypass the preamp.
  6. Definitely move to Stainless Steel strings as a starter. What is your signal path in the Boss unit? Are you using cab sims / IRs? Even with a PA as your main amp if you are using IRs then they will attenuate the top end, just like any real bass cab. Ditch any cab sis / IR and run an EQ last in the chain instead to get full control.
  7. I had one. To be honest I never looked at the metering and just trusted my ears.
  8. Excellent amp! Love mine.
  9. Groove Sonix (3\4 of Jamiroquai) have done some belting arrangements
  10. Are they much different? I’ve only tried the 751.
  11. I left mine as it came. But I have some new strings getting delivered in a day or two and when they arrive I’ll see what measurements I can take.
  12. @bassman1982 video above. Watch it all.
  13. Some spacing measurements are from string centre to string centre, and others are the clear space between strings.
  14. Put the stand slightly out of reach so you only look at it when really necessary. Otherwise you'll end up staring at it. Sometimes you have to be make the mistakes to realise where they might happen. If I get lost I tend to default to a Duck Dunn walk until I end up on the right note again!
  15. Nice - you can get that as part of a set of 3 posters too.
  16. Because he wants stuff from after the year 2000.
  17. Uptown Funk is great fun to play. Make sure you do it on a 5 string. None of that higher octave nonsense. It needs to be guttural. Runaway Baby is another that works really well. Funk that "everybody will know" is not an easy task. Everybody likes to dance to it, but hardly any of the punters know the song names or the artists. Can you post your existing set list? But if you have a load of well known ones anyway - educate the masses!
  18. I'm looking forward to this new version of the Miku.
  19. I'd go with EMG J-X set. The X set have increased headroom. Then add the BQC EQ Control (not the system) and the ABCX active balance control. The balance has to be the X version for the X pickups. You will need a battery of course, but you should get at least a year out of it as long as you unplug when not playing. The EMGs are about as low noise as you can get. But with extreme treble settings there's always going to be some.
  20. the free phone version of Amplitube and a cheap interface will sound great. I used that for years before I got my Waza-Air headphones. Now they are a work of genius!
  21. Nope. headphone sockets need quite a bit of kit behind the panel. Cant just plug cans into the speaker out! Dedicated headphone amps are dirt cheap now. Or use an interface and a free app for a smartphone.
  22. I don’t really analyse. I play it over and over until it is stuck in my head forever. I start with whatever is available. By ear, tab or traditional dots. Then I stop looking at the paper a bit at a time until I don’t need it anymore. Even for a reading gig I will learn it by heart and just have the paper there for last minute changes.
  23. I still really like mine, but I can't shake the desire to sell it and put the money towards the Evo V 750. I know it's stupid - I'm not even in a band at the moment!
