  1. They've always responded to mine - sometimes they reply quicker on Facebook Messenger. Gregor Fris runs that bit.
  2. I had a tecamp Puma a few years ago. It was tiny and very light. I found it a bit bland as a bass amp, but as a power amp for my Helix it was excellent.
  3. We do have a pretty unique procedure - if the bass rig craps out completely then one of the bari sax players swaps to playing the bass guitar parts and I go to the bar! It hasn't happened yet, but it's like having a back up me! But generally - 2 basses 2 amps 1 cab di box (if there's a PA. No point if not!) Always a spare guitar lead and Speakon speaker cable, battery, spare IEC power cable. Pretty much everything other than the cab.
  4. I really like EB Group IV flats (not the Cobalts) and I have them on most things. Unfortunately EB don't do them as a shortscale and I don't think the long ones would survive being wrapped around the tuning post very well. Does anyone know of any shortscale flats that have a similar feel and tone? They are quite bright for a flat. La Bellas are too thuddy, Dunlop prices have gone completely stupid (and for this they are a bit too dark). So far All I've found are GHS flats, Picato, and D'addario chromes. I think Fender use their long scale ones on the JMJ Mustang but they seem a bit thuddy on youtube as well. I'm not mad on chromes but I haven't tried the GHS or the Picato. Any ideas? They have to be steel and not monel / excessive nickels as I react a bit to that. ta
  5. If it isn’t made it’s usually because companies that could make it have done their market research and discovered it wouldn’t sell in sufficient volumes to make it worthwhile.
  6. Lovely! Waiting lists are 12 months minimum now.
  7. Nice. BTW - the pickup is in the same place as on the big ones... proportionally. It's adjusted for the scale length. It's the same percentage of the total scale length.
  8. I’m hoping they’ve got some left when I’ve been paid again!
  9. I love the look of them but the narrow string spacing at the bridge is too tight for me. 😢
  10. https://www.thomann.de/gb/tech_21_sansamp_psa_2.0_preamp_pedal.htm bit of a bargain is that!
  11. The low weight has been a revelation. I get through a 3 hour session and I'm not sore at all. No neck dive on either of them. Mine are both early ones with cedar bodies. I haven't played a paulownia one. I see Spector are now doing some paulownia body Euro basses. I've always loved that shape but the older ones are really heavy. A paulownia one might have to go on the gas list.
  12. Price drop to £800. Grab a bargain that's £595 cheaper than a new order and avoid 3 months wait!
  13. Are the bass tones you've heard on youtube / spotify etc? If you can post links we can have a listen and try and work out what is being used.
  14. Put an East preamp in with a Passive / Active switch. Job done.
  15. There will be an option for a black headstock, but you'll have to order it like that and wait a year. They'll do pretty much anything you want.
  16. People like different things. Plenty of comments on social media from people who want to buy one. I want one, but in contrast to that there are people who think tort pickguards are nice and that using them shouldn't carry a punishment of public flogging. Nowt so queer as folk!
  17. It's definitely worse with flats, perhaps counterintuitively. But a flat has more of the surface area in contact with the finger, so depending on the material the flat is made from and the way it is made it can either be really slippy or it can actually grip more. I discovered this when I tried some La Bella Low Tension Flats last summer in the run up to some outdoor gigs in the sun. They were awful. It was like the strings were covered in glue. I was putting Fast Fret on for each tune, and sometimes during a tune if there was a few bars when I wasn't playing. Over the 'board and where I was plucking. I swapped them for Ernie Ball Group iv flats (not the cobalts) and the problem actually went a bit the other way - a bit too slippy. But I'll take a bit slippy over glue any day! I've still got EB's on my 4 string as I love the sound of them, but I've gone back to rounds on my 5 string so I've always got a choice. Easy enough to put some foam under the strings to make them a little more flat like in sound.
  18. My Lionel will look a bit like this pic. Ordered specs: Superlight spec body - Paulownia Superlight spec neck - Norwegian Maple Matt Black Chrome hardware (all the Sandberg new tuners are now the Superlight ones) Rosewood fretboard Abalone dots. The pic is just the generic Matt Black rather than the grain from Paulownia, but it's the closest the configurator can get. I wanted something a little like John Deacon's black P bass but I just couldn't bring myself to get blingy gold hardware! Not a lot of gold left on JD's one anyway! Waiting times for ordering are now 12 months +. I ordered at the end of last April so I'm hoping for delivery this April, but it might be later than that. Sandberg's stock passive P pickups can be a bit bright (IIRC they also use 500K pots) so I am anticipating swapping to a 60s wind Aguilar pickup and 250K pots, but I'll see how it is first before I do that. It's cheaper to do that myself than getting Sandberg to do that. Especially as I already have the pickup in my parts drawer. Fingers crossed for delivery within the next 2 months!
  19. I have 2 Superlights - a TT4 and a TT5 I also have a Lionel on order - and Sandberg will do a Superlight Lionel. In fact they will build any of their basses using the Superlight specs. It just costs a little bit more money. My Lionel will be a Superlight. My TT4 is under 6.5lb and my TT5 is amazing for a 5 string at only 6lb 12oz. The Lionel might be under 6lb when it gets here!
  20. Hope they do a new version! Or maybe the Katana bass is supposed to be the new one? I've still got my old single speaker one the Cube 30. It's heavy by modern standards but it still sounds fantastic. If I was ever in a position that I wasn't going to gig again, I'd be keeping that and selling off the expensive kit.
  21. I asked them on IG - they liked my question but didn't answer it. You are right though. I'm not going to randomly look for crack converters, but if it was in my town then I might make an effort.
