  1. ***SOLD*** Selling my Boss EQ-200. It's a very powerful 10 band EQ with loads of options for routing, multiple EQ curves, memories, midi control etc etc. It's actually dual 10 band that can be used in series, parallel or stereo. With midi and the firmware update you can have 128 memory slots. It's perfect as a problem solver in a difficult room, or a great FX loop solo boost, or just a brilliant way to control a single channel amp, and loads more. From Boss: Class-leading sound quality with 32-bit AD/DA, 32-bit floating point processing, and 96 kHz sampling rate Dual 10-band EQs that can be used in stereo, parallel, or series Insert function for processing external effects with pre and/or post tone shaping Three different range settings: 30 Hz to 12.8 kHz, 32 Hz to 16 kHz, and 28 Hz to 14 kHz 15 dB boost/cut on each band, plus overall level control for each channel Stereo link function for operating both EQ channels together Intuitive interface with hands-on sliders and graphic EQ display Access 128 user setups from the panel or MIDI program change Recall consecutive memories plus real-time panel setting via footswitch or dedicated panel button Panel Lock function disables controls to prevent unwanted changes Two onboard footswitches with customizable assignments Support for expanded control via external footswitches, an expression pedal, or MIDI Full MIDI I/O provided with mini TRS jacks (BMIDI-5-35 adaptor cable available separately) Micro USB jack for firmware updates Runs on PSA-series AC adaptor or three AA-size batteries https://www.boss.info/global/products/eq-200/ It has the original box and velcro on the bottom. It's quite hefty for a pedal so including tracked UK postage (which will be about £12) I'm looking for £150 ono ta

  2. I had an older 102P and I thought it was very good. It needed a drive pedal for heavier things, but the core tone was very nice. The tilt-back ability was very good for small stages so I could hear myself better too. If I was buying a combo again I'd want to try the new EBS Magni 502 2x10 as well. It's nearly 2kg lighter and has a built in compressor too. The prices are similar. I have not tried the MB58R amps or cabs. The cabs seem to be very big compared to their other ones. Not sure I'd fit one in my car.
  3. Hartke LH500 - just astonishingly meh. Dull beyond words. Loud is the only good thing. Almost every one I've seen in use has effectively been as a power amp for BDDI or Helix etc. Dingwall ABZ. Well built with a gutless sound. Not helped as at the time string choices were severely limited. Xotic SP Compressor. Hissy pile of stinky poo. Mesa Prodigy 4:88. Amazing tone, completely ruined by the loud-as-a-jet £2 cooling fan they used. There are dozens of really quiet fans and Mesa specced out a pile of derrière that would be rejected from the cheapest Wish.com PC. Totally ruined the experience of buying such an expensive product. Stupidly I tried to get on with it / tolerate it and was then too late to return it, and the distributors at the time were 'holes. Traded it as a shop and lost loads on it.
  4. Mark Bass AG1000 and a Barefaced Two10S.
  5. I’ve got a Cioks DC7 that has a USB power outlet on it.
  6. Guitar demos sound very impressive. Price is the same as the Quad Cortex, now that the QC has dropped a bit today!
  7. ***SOLD*** Selling my Source Audio C4 pedal. It's a lovely bit of kit but I'm just not using it in my big band (what a surprise! ) and I bought a keyboard synth recently for recording with. It comes with the smartphone cable and the USB but not the annoyingly short cabled power supply as I have no idea where I put it. It can be powered from any good guitar power supply with centre neg and a minimum of 150mA flow. Not looking for any trades. £195 seems to be the going rate for a used one - or near offer. ta
  8. I go as high as possible to use the top of the pickup as a ramp. Only works if the poles are slightly lower than the plastic cover. Otherwise the clicking is nuts.
  9. I've had fully lined and dots where the frets were. I like dots where the frets were. It's not as accurate to start with for 4,6,8 positions etc but it's much better training, and it doesn't take long.
  10. When I started it was always Ernie Balls, the D'addario Prosteels. I stuck with the Prosteels for years. Then started to experiment with others. Dunlop steels and flats, Ti Flats, Roto flats. EB flats, Dr Hi-Beams steels. I now have Dunlop Flats on my Sandberg Lionel and Ibby Mezzo 5, and I'm trying some DR Black Beauties on my Sandberg TT4. That's my first go with coated strings on bass, but I do use Elixir Optiwebs on guitar.
  11. The shortest 5 they offer is 32.5 inches. I do find their 5 string necks a bit chunky for me, and I like a narrower bridge string spacing than they have on a 5. I'd love 44.5mm nut and 17.5mm bridge spacing - like a Stingray 5. Just as a shortie. I doubt I'll have any luck with that though.
  12. It’s a very versatile pedal. The sample settings
  13. Hipshot USA Ultralights will help, but how much depends on what the current tuners weigh. If they are old fashioned large plate tuners then you can save 1/3 lb, and at the end of the neck that’s a big difference. On a 5 string it can save 1/2lb! USA Hipshots are lighter then the licensed ones, and they are reversible left and right for use in other basses if you ever sell.
  14. The Tech21 Steve Harris is very good for this.
  15. Very fast delivery and I have some Black Beauties. They sound good and feel great, hopefully they will last!
  16. I had one as well. It was ace.
  17. I might give them a try then. I do like other DR strings.
  18. I have never tried any coated strings. Most seem to be nickel, to which I have a nasty allergy - so how long does the coating last? If it starts coming off in a month or two then I would be exposed to the nickel and they'd have to go in the bin. I'm looking for strings with low string noise but are a bit brighter than flats. But not too bright like steels would be. I usually have 40-100 gauge and alas Elixirs only do 45-105 as a steel coated, but I could try the nickels 40-95 if the coating lasts. If not then DR have some coated steels but I've never seen them mentioned on here. Any ideas?
  19. I stand corrected. I don't have a problem with digital. I went 100% Helix for my guitar rig many years ago.
  20. It's multiband so applies compression differently to different frequencies to give an even result instead of more compression on low notes like a traditional compressor does, it reacts to specifically to the incoming signal in a way that no analogue pedal can, and there is absolutely no dip and swell that affects even the best analogue ones, particularly with high output pickups. It has an incredibly low noise floor. Changing a control does loads of stuff behind the scenes so there isn't a bad setting in the box. It's not really a digital pedal, it's digital control over the compression of the analogue bass signal. It's the most natural sounding compressor I've ever used. It ups the voltage to 18v internally so there's loads of headroom too. The only slight downside is that it will eat a 9V battery in 2-3 hours, but I always use a power supply. It just works, with every bass and at every setting. I haven't found a single compromise.
  21. Will the shop not take it back for a refund?
  22. £100 will barely get you a single good double bass string... A set of Pirastro Eudoxa are £700!
  23. I need to get to a shop to try one - the nut width is much wider than I'm used to and will need to make sure it suits me. I have a great BM patch for my helix, took me a long time to get it right, but I never play Queen songs with it, I just view it as a great guitar tone. It's only instantly recognisable when it's Brian doing the playing. When it's me it's just some hamfisted bloke!
