  1. I did it again….I have a 5 string Ibby and the new B string has a fair bit of that excessive overtone problem that I find very annoying. I have often put a tiny bit of foam under the strings at the bridge for just that string, just to knock them down a little. They are steel roundwounds. So I’ve tried the E45 on just the B string to see if it would help and it has. The overtones are still there, but they are knocked down quite a bit.
  2. I was bored and I had a set of EB Group stainless steel flats lying about that I had taken off a bass when I sold the bass. They were only on for a week and were still bright and clanky. I used some E45 moisturiser and after 15 mins gave them a wipe with a dry sponge to remove excess and then put them on my ‘Berg TT4. The TT4 already had a set of the same strings on so I got to compare like for like. The difference was very noticeable. The moisturised ones sound very broken in, that’s something that takes months on these strings. I didn’t expect much of a difference to be honest, but there really is. I can only assume that the cream gets into the windings and deadens it, and maybe the effect is less pronounced on other strings that are polished so much that there really aren’t any gaps, like the Picato flats that are almost as smooth as solid solid wires. Maybe the stickiness of the cream also helps to attract dust and skin and gum up the gaps even more? I really like my TT4 having old sounding strings for big band work, so I am pleased.
  3. https://www.originalscratchplates.com/ They can make you one. The guy who does them is a member on here. Tim something...
  4. The drop is a good guitar pedal but after dropping a tone or so on bass it can get muddy with aggressive playing styles like metal. It’s more accurate with gentle playing styles. There is no really good alternative to actually tuning your bass lower. Don’t forget you can still use a 4 but tune it BEAD if you find that easier. Don’t bother retuning for different songs, just set the bass up properly for the lowest tuning you need and then learn the songs from that position. It’s much easier to have a spare bass that way too. Taking 3 differently tuned basses to a gig is a hassle for playing the Dog n Duck!
  5. At the moment I’m using it for some bad techno! 😂
  6. Still working on this. I think I will have to move to my bigger Board as there are still a couple of other pedals, I want on it, including a delay and a looper. But so far all this is powered from a Cioks DC7 using some splitter cables. And I haven’t got a fuzz pedal on this yet. My Morley fuzz power wah is one of the older large versions, so that just goes on the floor if I need it. I’m still thinking about swapping the C4 for a Boss SY – 1 just for ease of use. The C4 is very powerful, but it really does need laptop control a lot of the time.
  7. Is it a guitar with single coils?
  8. I’d put EMG JX in it with one of their EQ systems.
  9. If the neck shape has got rid of the old square shoulder shape then I’m interested.
  10. Gigrig Quartermaster is good.
  11. Apparently I does have a new quiet / reactive fan system though. Not sure that has made it into the ABM iv.
  12. I’m glad John Lee Hooker and BB King didn’t take that approach.
  13. [PrintScreen] Email to wife…
  14. I’m still loving my RM800Evo2 but I have such bad gas for the new ABM Evo 5 that I’m going to sell the RM so I can start saving for the big boy.
  15. Phew! We haven’t had this topic for about 6 months! My anxiety was starting to kick in. I can relax now.
  16. There’s plenty of them these days. Some are excellent.
  17. What is the nut width and bridge string spacing on the Cort please? I can’t find that info on their website.
  18. Does anyone know of a steinberger shape shortscale headless? I’m thinking of something properly tiny to take on holiday and that sort of thing.
  19. @merton @Merton I emailed them… Scale length - 27 Nut width - 45 mm String spacing at the bridge - 16 mm They are building one for a customer at the moment but will let me see pictures when it’s ready.
  20. I’ve been listening to YouTube demos and it sounds great. Particularly the blended tones.
  21. 1. Slot loads every time.
  22. Isn’t that a VM4? The PM name was only used on the very early ones way before the body shape changed.
