  1. Reason for Divorce: johnDeereJack! FWIW I really like the Sandberg bridge. The user guide could be better though.
  2. When I mentioned a similar issue Bill told me that tweeters don't hiss, amps hiss. @Bill Fitzmaurice
  3. I really want one of these! I'd have to special order it as a Superlight though and as I've only recently got a special order I think my wife would take issue with it!
  4. I seem to be revisiting my youth and listening to a lot of AC/DC at the moment. I caught a clip of the Live at Donington Monsters of Rock show on youtube - I was at that gig and it's caused me to reminisce a bit so I've been shuffle playing their catalogue.
  5. 18V operation is the main reason for increased headroom Quite a few basses with that now. The new Stingray Specials are 18V with 2 batteries for example.
  6. Any sound clips?
  7. This is what I'd have. There is a Thumpinator underneath as well, but as that is really there for speaker protection I'm not counting it in the 4. And anyway - it's not a pedal as there's no controls on it! So ner ner ner!
  8. I use it. I sometimes post vids of bass covers, but I'm mainly there to look at other music related stuff, and food, tattoos, magic.
  9. Yeah - I mean I know all amps have an HPF in them somewhere but apart from some of the Bergantino heads I don't know any that have controls for the cut off freq.
  10. Youtube randomly suggested a demo of Sine Effects (Scottish company) HPF Website: https://sineeffect.company.site/ They look pretty good. I've always got a Thumpinator on my board as I like to control Octave and Synth pedals a bit more before they hit the front of the amp. It would be good if the slope was a bit more drastic though. I like a more obvious chop off!
  11. Function is vital to me. Weight and Balance are my 2 biggest concerns and they go hand-in-hand with playability. Colour / looks etc are dead last. I'd happily do a jazz gig with a BC Rich Warlock bass if the important stuff was right.
  12. I think the Behringer would be in the right ballpark. I don't have that pedal but I did have the Boss is was based on (I sold it for buttons years ago ) and that's what I would pick for it.
  13. For many years Dusty had an always on Octave when playing live. A MicroPog into a Thumpinator to cut everything lower than a low B so he could leave it on all the time. The Thumpinator made sure that nothing lower got through. Elwood (when he was still the tech) explains it from about 1min30 here:
  14. A huge amount of metal bass players seem to play a Jazz.
  15. Can someone remove that unnecessary apostrophe before I have to blind myself with a soldering iron?
  16. https://www.thomann.de/gb/boss_bgk_30_serial_gk_cable.htm?shp=eyJjb3VudHJ5IjoiZ2IiLCJjdXJyZW5jeSI6NCwibGFuZ3VhZ2UiOjJ9&reload=1 £60 Will any TRS work?
  17. 2 different giggable heads (Mark Bass and Ashdown), a Roland Combo that I've had for maybe 20 years, and a 5W mini head. The Mark Bass is my favourite. The Ashdown is really a backup and / or lazy option as it has a compressor and some drive built in. Combo in a bedroom. 5W mini amp because it sounds just like a raging SVT but at TV volume. But if I'm recording then it's all Helix.
  18. That's great news. I hope you enjoy the new job.
  19. I do this a lot in my band. I don't use different EQ settings on the amp or a pedal but if I'm playing a 2 pickup bass I often change the pickup balance which is kind of the same thing. On a P bass I might tweak the tone pot on the bass to allow more treble when slapping. I use a Boss BC-1X compressor. I have been really impressed with it. I've had the Origin Cali76, the Empress, DG Supersymmetry and other high end compressors and I like the Boss the best. It just works better and it's a lot easier to dial in. There's some magic going on inside to prevent the dip and rise volume that some compressors do and it is really quiet in operation. Only downside is battery life. Current draw is very low for a digital pedal but 9V batteries are expensive so that needs to be backup only really. Power supply all the way!
  20. The loudest fan I ever had was in the Mesa Prodigy 4:88. The fact that an all valve amp was built in a way to need a fan was really stupid. Even then the fan itself was a really cheap piece of crap in a £2500 amplifier. It looked no different to any other PC case fan. An extra £20 and it could have had a BeQuiet or a Noctua fan with hardly any noise at all. Nobbers.
  21. Specs are very similar to the Aguilar 60s version and the Aguilar is quite a bit cheaper.
  22. Secursus They don't cover ebay / reverb stuff, but for forums and other private non"marketplace" things they do.
  23. And this time there is a bass version of the GK-5 pickup too! https://www.andertons.co.uk/boss-gk-5b-electric-bass-guitar-divided-pickup £690 for the unit + about £250 for the pickup is a fair chunk though.
