  1. Just to complete the circle... here is Diamond Head covering "No Remorse" 2 years ago. What a cracking version!
  2. Also - are they now trying to be Diamondhead rather than just be influenced by them?
  3. Bass is very low in the mix again. Good old Lars.
  4. I'm loving my cheap shorty so much it has become the first bass I grab. The long scale instruments seem so cumbersome now. I think I'm converting to being a short scale player simply by habit. I need to do a few gigs with the shorty and then see whether I keep the long scale ones. I also seem to be swapping more to Precision types rather than Jazz. Getting old is really sad.
  5. How old is the ivory? If it's old enough I believe it is excluded from the rules. I'm sure Feline Guitars could help - they they are further south.
  6. No - no reactions to anything else. I've been reading more: apparently the nickel content in the monel alloy is very high compared to normal use. Allergies can be basically non-existent until triggered by something.
  7. I put a set of short scale rotosound monel flats on my cheap shorty P bass. Sounds fantastic and I love the feel of the strings. Or at least I did for a couple of hours. Now my finger-tips feel like they have blisters developing in them. They are painful and itchy. It would appear I am allergic or have a sensitivity to these strings. Very annoying and not least because that's £40 down the drain. Hopefully the fingers will recover reasonably quickly if I keep scrubbing them.
  8. I've had several and they've all gone now. I'm not missing them. I would like to try the JMJ Mustang at some point but as none of them ever get down to about 7lb I won't be buying one.
  9. I've currently got a set of Roto flats on my shorty. They only come in 1 gauge - 40-90. They are a little light for me. Will a Roto flat long scale cope with being wound round the post on a shorty? EDIT: I emailed Rotosound - they advised against it and thought the string was likely to break round the tuning post. They don't make a 45-105 for a shorty. I find that a bit odd - usually need a heavier string for a shorty to keep the tension up.
  10. So would I. As recorded music doesn't really give anyone any income anymore I would look for any way I could feed myself. Changing endorsements is no different to moving jobs for a better deal.
  11. Nope. It's too much fun. And it annoys people in such a great way! Withdrawn.
  12. I'm giving a lot of thought to that. I'm not really using my Ultrawave Bass - other than to annoy people!! - so I might move that on to raise a few quid.
  13. I've had that issue with dual signals in the past. The secret is additional compression on the clean signal. The drive already has an element of compression on it as part of the overdrive. So the clean side needs compression so the note attack and decay react in the same way to the driven side. It can be a bit of a sod to dial in, but when it is then it is much more like a single sound rather than 2. The clean also needs just a tiny bit of hair on it too. That sort of tone that sounds a bit dirty on it's own but clean in a mix like those famous isolated bass tracks.
  14. I've just been watching demos of that. It does seem impressive. Quite expensive and large though. And the power requirement is a bit annoying!
  15. This. No mobile phone? I love that idea but the reality is harsh. Traffic delays / illness / last minute changes for gigs etc etc. Communications are vital. That would have been enough for me to get annoyed.
  16. I am really liking the sound of the Bass Butler in all the clips. That might go on the GAS list.
  17. I could - but it wouldn't fit in the camera bag I use for my amp and cables then! I might have to get the tape measure out and have a look at some options.
  18. I know, but my Pedal Train Nano can take 4 Boss size pedals or 2 Boss size and one PSA type thing. I need my octave, Compressor and filter. So I’ve only got space for one other Boss sized pedal.
  19. The PSA 2.0 won't fit on my nano board. I wish they'd find a way to do portrait versions. even if it was a bt on the long side.
  20. A P bass with an Aguilar 60s wind pickup. Stainless rounds just like Dusty used - well he used GHS Super Steels and I've got Prosteels, but that's close enough! I've never tried a P with the old single coil.
  21. The prices have gone up - but I don't think they've really gone up any more than any other inflation affected item. Some DG pedals are now £100 more expensive than when I bought them last!
