  1. Back when I was playing guitar in a band I started by just doing BV and then our singer quit. I was writing almost all of the stuff anyway so at rehearsals I was singing it. After 6 months of not being able to find a singer the guys suggested we did a small gig with me singing the leads. So we did a short set at a party where there was also a DJ and other stuff and I really enjoyed it. I still find it much easier to sing and play guitar rather than bass, but I'm working on the latter. Shortscale and a plectrum seems to really help me for that. My cheap Jim Deacon P is perfect - it has really narrow string spacing that really suits me for plec use.
  2. Something I wrote a long time ago as a vocal tune, but decided to do an instrumental version for fun.
  3. Neck dive is a thing with just about every bass that has a short upper horn. The best way to help it is to swap the heavy old fashioned tuners for Hipshot Ultralites. That can save between 1/3 and 1/2 a pound and when that weight saving is at the end of a neck the balance is altered massively. But the short upper horn is the culprit really. If you swap the tuners, spend the money on the USA ones and not the licensed ones. The USA ones are lighter. Either way you'll have to be happy with some more holes in the headstock rear.
  4. One of mine is a tiny bit over 7lb. The other is about 8lb They vary quite a bit so if you buy new, ask the shop to weigh it first if weight is an issue for you (as it is for me).
  5. Lead and BV here. I like singing a lot.
  6. Without a doubt: https://www.youtube.com/@howtobbqright
  7. I know - I fixed it that way at home. But that would have taken even longer than a mid song string change to sort out properly. Far better to swap to a different bass.
  8. I suspect he's told his wife that as promised he has listed them for sale and he hopes to get a decent offer for them. Now he's sitting back confident they will never sale. I've never done that of course. Oh no. 🤫 Anyway - there is no point worrying about it. He can set whatever price he wants. The buyers will decide if it sells or not.
  9. There's a dedicated thread on medium scales. The Ibanez Mezzo PJ is 38mm - they are great (I have 2) https://www.ibanez.com/usa/products/detail/srmd200_1p_01.html
  10. Can you make the poll to allow multiple options? I've had a string break and an electrical fault over the years. EDIT - and I just remembered, I had a strap button come out and there wasn't enough grip to just screw it back in.
  11. Always go with the singer. It's annoying, but they are the focal point.

    Pedalboard qs

another option for suitable pedals is bike chain links Personally though - Dual Lock will be strong enough. As stated before, if you put too much on you'll need a crowbar to get the pedal off again.
  13. I use a Boss EQ-200 for finding and removing the worst frequencies. Lots of bands are a good idea for this, or a parametric.
  14. I’m using a MB AG1000 head with a One10T and One10 and I’m really happy with the rig. MB and Barefaced go well together.
  15. I had a go on one for about 10 mins. It was very very heavy. I've had 6 strings that were lighter. I don't know if that was a unique example, but I have read some reviews by other people saying the same. Definitely worth asking about.

  17. Two. I always take a spare.
  18. Hopefully it will turn up in a day or two. I've got a long rehearsal on Saturday so I wasn't going to install it before then anyway.
  19. I've got Fender flats on it 9050L - so the lightest set they do and I like them a lot. I wish they'd do a set where the E and A were a bit higher tension, but leave the D&G as they are. I will try your EQ suggestions anyway - I've got an EQ-200 for fine tuning, but I try take as little as possible with me when I go out to play and that pedal is quite heavy! #lazy And to show exactly how lazy.... I'm currently awaiting a delivery from @KiOgon for one of his solderless P bass looms! So much easier!
  20. I'm still going to swap the pickup for an Aguilar 60s wind. The 'Berg pickup has a lot of lows and highs but not as much mids as a traditional P has and I have to EQ it quite a lot. So I'll swap it over when I get a moment. It was the first time I've tried the Tonehammer amp model in the Helix... unfortunately now I want the real amp too!
  21. So cool! One of each version please!
  22. Thought I'd do a quick cover with the Lionel I don't know why the bass picture is a little fuzzy. Probably had the resolution set a bit low. Ah well. It's only for fun.
