  1. I had previously made some homemade versions of the Nordy mute, but I cannot find them anywhere! Probably where all my other safe-place stuff is!
  2. I'm trying to make my shortie my main bass for everything - so I've got some foam too. I love the thump from La Bella DTF but they are pretty useless for brighter stuff. So I've got Hi-Beams on it with some foam that I can easily remove. First rehearsal with the Lionel is on Saturday. Looking forward to it.
  3. Has anyone tried the Mono Sleeve guitar version for a shortie? The Sandberg case that came with my Lionel would fit a long scale. I could just cut the top off...
  4. My new ACS plugs arrived today and they fit perfectly. Rehearsal is on Saturday so I'll give them a test run then.
  5. It's a small staff. Maybe they were all serving customers.
  6. It's a very clever system. I saw a great vid about the guitar version and setting it up differently for recording rhythm and lead parts. When set for rhythm bent notes did not change the pitch at all. It negated the effect of inadvertent bends or pressing too hard on the board. None of that caused the pitch to go sharp. Then set it differently to allow for bending for solos and vibrato etc, but still maintaining rock solid tuning even with string slippage from bending. It's witchcraft!
  7. Ultralite tuners are smaller in general. But as for the post size - get a ruler and measure it.
  8. I've got a One10T on order to go with my existing One10. Should be another couple of weeks. I've always been happy with the treble on the One10 (it goes higher than the Super Twin) but I thought I'd get the T version just to increase options. In the past when I've had a cab with a tweeter I've always turned them off. I may well still do that most of the time unless I'm in a Marcus Miller sort of mood.
  9. I've never built a bitsa so I have no real idea how much bodies and necks cost in the first place.
  10. I'd buy my youngest a new laptop to replace her aging pile of crap.
  11. As far as I know they are "Coming Soon" so the full details aren't yet available. I was excited... and then realised they would be the cobalt ones. I don't like them - I like the Group series flats.
  12. Turn on the subtitles!
  13. Get yourself a Lionel to go with it. Then you’ll have your P sound as well.
  14. Some of the options make several models at different price points.
  15. Tweaking the set up on my Lionel following a string change.
  16. I was playing Metallica guitar riffs. I really don’t understand why I can do that while singing but cannot play a repetitive Duck Dunn part while singing. I need a neurologist to explain it to me!
  17. I’ve fronted bands while playing guitar and I find that easy, but for some reason I find it very hard to do it on bass, at least when playing with fingers. I think it is because the guitar part is usually more rhythmically similar to the vocal. Or maybe it’s just because when I started playing guitar I was a teenager and really wanted to be James Hetfield and just put the work in! If I play bass with a plectrum I find it a lot easier even for the same bass part. But with fingers… it’s like people who just cannot Pat their own head while rubbing their tummy. There’s a wiring problem somewhere! But whichever way works for you, the hands and bass have to be automatic. If you have to think about them you’ll not have the bandwidth to concentrate on the vocal. To quote Billy Sheehan “if you think, you stink!” Its a lot easier for songs you write yourself as you automatically write things that are easier for you personally.
  18. None of it.
  19. I recently realised I only have 1 long scale bass left. I have 2 shorties, two 4 string Mediums. and a 5 string medium. I'm now wondering about selling the two 4 string mediums to fund another shorty. I don't have a Jazz type shorty yet! This is becoming an addiction! Does anyone know if SX / Jim Deacon did a shorty Jazz type? I have one of the P types and I really like it.
  20. I've never seen one of those before - but what an amazing idea! I'll have to get one.
  21. @tazza1 What's the serial number? I took some photos that I can have a look at this evening.
  22. Mine is black and is only 7.3lb. What strings are you using on it? I've got Dunlop medium scale flats at the moment and they have a great old sound but sometimes I want something a little more modern.
