Even if the festival has insurance (they will) that only covers the things that the festival organisers do wrong. If it's your amp that falls on someone then that's your fault, and if the injured person goes after the festival organisers, their insurance company will re-direct them to you / your band. And even if (and it's a massive massive if) the festival people are forced to pay out for something you did, they can then sue you afterwards to get the money back. PLI is cheap. It might even already be on your equipment insurance, or if not can be added for a couple of quid.

Bax doesn't have a particularly good reputation either. I just had a look - the ABM600 shows £849 on their own site, but there's no option to buy directly for that one. Just a "find a retailer" button.

Maybe they did some research and discovered that dual power section amps aren't as wanted as bigger output single section anymore? Not sure I can think of anything other than the Ampeg SVT and the ABM1200 that does that these days. And of those being used, how many get anywhere near the top of the volume dial? The idea seems a bit obsolete to me. Those that want 2 amps / 2 sounds often need 2 separate signal paths or at least stereo FX loops so there's a actually a benefit of having 2 power sections. But what do I know? Ashdown are stickling with Class A/B with a shrinking number of competitors and seem to be doing that well enough. I wonder if the RM series is outselling the ABM stuff? The RM800 is probably close enough on price to the ABM600 to let features rather than price decide, but the new 750 is well outside that.

As for the "they are all staged" nonsense. Of course some will be. I think it is reasonable to assume the older the listener the more likely they will have heard something before. But being aware is very different from actually listening, and listening to a song on the radio is very different to knowing anything about the act. One of the comments on the Bee Gees was "but this is a black song.... it's in all the black movies..." and when that or similar comments are made by lots of people the chances of them all being staged is about zero. But the younger generation? The One Direction fans who slagged off Roger Daltry because "The Who" was a stupid band name and they won't get anywhere and certainly won't last as long as 1D... Billie Eilish not knowing who Van Halen was... and let's not forget the Kanye and McCartney one... Music is such a generational and peer exposure thing. There is so much out there that passes us by. If you've got a reaction channel why would you pick stuff you already know when there is so much you haven't? Most of them ask for suggestions from their viewers and get their playlist that way. TBH some of this thread sounds a lot like people who get irrationally upset when someone wears a band t-shirt having never heard of the band. I bet some of you never even bought a CD by Harley Davidson in your lives.

The B-Social was a bizarre product. Ignoring the stupid price it was a product that just wasn't needed. It didn't fit into the ipad bracket of "didn't know I needed it till I tried one" - it was just an awful concept. And then the price!!!! Yamaha had the right idea for that sort of thing with the THR amps. Still not cheap but actually useful and sound great.

You're not. I like them too. Particularly when the young'uns discover some old classics. A favourite of mine was a compilation of black listeners discovering that Bobby Caldwell and the Bee Gees were white.

I bet within a year it's being built in the far east and the price will come down. I don't think it's a bad price for a UK built item, but as you say, it's not really competing against other UK built stuff. I'm not sure a lack of 2ohms is a real problem though. Most working bass players who would be the market for this would be letting the PA do a lot of the work leaving the cab for on stage monitoring.

Definitely rout out a slot for rod access. You'd have to raise the neck in the pocket by at least half a centimetre, maybe more otherwise. -
Just about to say this. Easy way to spot - if the amount of things that can be switched exceeds the connections on a stereo plug then the footswitch is doing more than just connecting and disconnecting things and is actually sending product specific instruction signals.

They did have this problem several years ago but I thought it had been solved. I wonder if you managed to buy new, old stock? Might be worth an email to EB's UK people.

I have some village fete type gigs over the summer and no doubt the power supply will be shocking (ahem) at some of them. Can anyone recommend a good RCD? (I've already got EMG pickups - so no ground wire to the bridge, and I'm thinking about taking my wireless as well even though the stage sizes won't need it) ta

Raise the pickups on that side. They are thinner and have a lower output as a result. Raising the pickups just on that side, and maybe lowering them on the E and A side should help balance them out.

New Moon and Allianz are the big players. I find New Moon to be a bit cheaper. I just covered (a scary amount) for about £140 to include theft from cars / venues etc. Most house insurance policies won't cover theft from vehicles or venues so it's a no brainer for me.

Youtube has become so important though. More equipment is sold via the internet than in person - and the percentage difference is massive. Some physical shops sell 75% online. Vids from a variety of people is important for that - slappers can have their fave player, the rockers someone else etc. And especially with the cost of returning an online order amp if you don't like it, the videos help people decide what they do not want to buy. A good set of vids cuts down on the amount of returns that the shop has to deal with and avoids that expense.

It needs more than that. They play their way. They always sound like them. That's the point of multiple demos from different players. At least The Bass Channel has 4 or 5 different players with different styles.
