  1. Their social media game is really weak compared to others. When others launch a new product there's often 10 youtubers revealing their demo vids on launch day. They are provided with units in advance so there's loads available at launch. They really need to be doing that sort of thing these days. I'm looking forward to the demo - I want to see if I can hear the fans!!
  2. In my youth! I even went for the full Jason Newsted undercut at one point. Just like his..... but with less gig pay!
  3. TBF you could say that or similar about all his playing, ever.
  4. Put on a CD at a good volume (EQ is very volume dependent) and play along. Tweak each control at a time and see what it does. Even better if you can have someone else tweak while you play so you get instant signal changes. What it does in the mix is far more important than how it sounds alone. Often they are very different. This process will help you learn what each does on your amp. All amps are a little different. On some the Bass knob could be 40hz or 60hz ish. On others it might be as high as 80Hz. So they are all different, so always ignore the knob positions and trust your ears. Have a look on youtube for Isolated Bass Tracks. These are the actual bass tracks from famous recordings. Listen to the full recording and then the bass part alone. You'll usually find that when heard alone the bass part is far dirtier than expected and may have a bit of a nasal quality to the sound where a lot of highs and super lows have been reduced. Sounds horrible on it's own, but brilliant in the mix. Ultimately though it's just somewhere from 3-5 knobs on most amps. Have a good tweak so you learn to hear what they do.
  5. If it will fit through the tuning head then use whatever you like. Medium scale steels Warwick Black Label are available as medium scale La Bella RX used to be medium but they are no longer on the site. But some places might have stock GHS Super Steels have a medium scale set Rotosound Swing Stainless steel
  6. With a super twin and a more trad cab you might need to do very different EQ shaping. Traditional cabs are quite often far more scooped as a starting point and the ST is a lot more neutral and very close to flat response. Don't be afraid to use all the range of the EQ controls, it is what they are for.
  7. He’s mainly a session player and musical director for some big acts. Also big in American gospel stuff. Monster player.
  8. Because it’s the Andrew Gouche signature model.
  9. I need to remember if any of my basses have rounds on them to try it with that as well as flats!
  10. Finally here. Only had 5 mins with it so far but it sounds good and has that warmth MB amps usually have. Quite different to the RM800 but that's a good thing as I like a bit of variety. Bit of fan noise (not as quiet as the Ashdown) but no louder than a pretty quiet PC that isn't doing anything taxing. Might take it to rehearsal on Saturday to see what happens in the mix.
  11. Could they do you an uncovered shell you could get covered elsewhere? Or let you have the plans for the shell?
  12. I'll have to look into it more. My 32 scale stuff is ok in a long bag, but my shorty doesn't fit as the long bag (Mono) has a neck cradle thing and the shorty headstock gets in the way. I wonder if Sandberg do a proper shorty bag for the Lionels? Their bags are pretty good.
  13. Well, after a bit of a moan & cancellation Bass Direct managed to get one. Currently "Out for delivery" Should be here before lunch so I might get to play with it for half an hour as I'm working at home. Fingers crossed and all that.
  14. No fan! Now I'm interested. I look forward to trying one when stock arrives in the UK in 2025.
  15. New Moon will do that too. Allianz are a very good company. I've made claims from them for work related things and it's been well handled. New Moon are agents and the cover is actually provided by Ecclesiastical Insurance - another very big player with a good reputation.
  16. I'm quite tempted - if you still have it at the weekend (I've got something happening for something else) then I may get in contact. Could it do a nice Duck Dunn sound?
  17. I think this would give me an anxiety attack! I like to get comfortable with any new kit before gigging it. Ideally a proper rehearsal!
  18. Is it actually wear? Sandberg zero frets have notches cut in them. Do hohner do that?
  19. I’ve been experimenting with this lately. My sound for my big band is now horrible when played alone. It’s narrow, farty, inarticulate foulness. Genuinely unpleasant. And it’s the best I’ve ever had when everybody else is playing. The drummer actually noticed!
  20. I use a variety of adhesive foam strip and plastic lolly sticks. I avoid needing a square by sliding a craft knife along the string while cutting the slot. Ive also experimented with cutting the foam into a point rather than square so more or less damping buy pushing it on a bit further or easing it off.
  21. Needless to say the horn players didn't notice, but I got a thumbs up from the drummer in the first tune of the day! That will do
  22. I used them at big band rehearsal this morning. Went for a Duck Dunn thing and turned the treble down on the amp to about 2. Small boost to the mids. Bass just a smidge above noon. Quite a narrow frequency sound but that let me be louder and not get in the way of the other instruments including a couple of bari saxes and the piano. Sounded bloody awful on it's own and ace in the mix.
