A P Bass would definitely be the way to go: Simo from the Clash has a permanent welt on his shoulder from one of his heavier ones (where the strap cut in) and I'm sure Sid Vicious used a P Bass to smash a guys face in when he tried to climb on stage at the Pistols second last gig in the US. I've dropped one of my 78's on my right foot when putting on a stand (while fairly drunk) and destroyed my instep completely; it's always bloody sore! - the bass weighs more than I do!
+1 for the late-70s P. I also have a similar-vintage Strat which I've not weighed but it might even be heavier than the P!
Not quite but close
He's making a clay model of your head? -
Having happily stumbled upon a thinline nylon electro-acoustic earlier this year, my GAS for a steel-strung acoustic I can comfortably play while standing was stirred. I was leaning towards “parlour”-sized guitars with 12th-fret neck joins, which have a look-and-feel familiar from my days of classical guitar lessons. Then I found an eBay seller with a slew of ex-demo/ex-display models, and I was pleasantly surprised to “win” a Tanglewood for around half of its street price. The auction ended at the weekend, the guitar was despatched on Monday, and was delivered yesterday. Except I had the minor distraction of the day job yesterday, and was out and about in the evening. I got home shortly after ten o’clock, wondering… would the carrier just leave the box in the rain on the doorstep? Would there be a card saying I had to call to rearrange delivery, or visit some depot in who-knows where? But - oh joy! - there was card saying it had been left with a neighbour. Then the agonising – was it too late to go and knock on my neighbour’s door? I took the considerate route and decided it was. Also, unwrapping a new toy would have been too exciting close to bedtime! Tonight, I’ll be returning home briefly before going out again… I’ll have enough time to collect the box from the neighbour, but not enough to play with the new toy! Ah well… this is turning out to be quite a long new guitar day. :-\ BTW this is a straight acoustic, so expect queries on various pickup options to follow…

Nice. I had a f/less one of those way back. I'd love to replace it - for what I sold it for, natch!
I'm having similar issues. I've got a few nice vinyls I want to move on and the dilemma is; 1) ship and risk them all snapping in half or 2) collection only and miss out on the larger market places.
I used these to shift a lot of vinyl http://covers33.co.uk/index.php/record/record-mailers with no complaints. And - yes, I've been irrationally gassing for a couple of six-strings and seeing what look like a pristine examples with bargain starting prices, collection only from too-far-away, end with no bids is somewhat frustrating!

Listening to the Rolling Stone stream now... I tailed off after Power Windows (came back for Clockwork Angels but can't get into it), but this is sounding very tempting. (Never heard the original version.)

Have they fixed the typo in the title?

Yum yum. I hadn't seen this before, but new it seemed to be in the VM price range, so I'd expect it be a step up from an Affinity. -
Imagine how good a player he might have been on a better bass!
Yeah, he might have learned to hold it the right way round! -
I too have got it down to 2 , and one of those is mine , I honestly think that after listening to it so closely and so often , your own version gets imprinted in your head and it sounds best , even if its a pile of the proverbial. but that probably means I am not doing enough referencing I guess .
Exactly! When I entered the previous one (or was it the one before?) only my own version sounded "right" to me. This time I didn't enter and am able to listen more objectively - I also haven't listened to the original. I too have it down to two...

Thanks for the pointers.... I'm sure my friend will be interested to read them It's black with a white scratchplate. It comes out in the periodic "need to get rid of unplayed basses" sweeps, but it might hang around for a while as there are less played and less loved instruments in the collection... they are nice!
They have also popped round to my house when in the area to drop colour samples, show me wood etc.
Not meeting a deadline is one thing, coming to house to show you wood sounds like a police matter! -
Purely hypothetically... if a friend of mine wanted to sell a Retrovibe RV4, given that its body shape my be considered by some to be similar to that of basses made by another manufacturer, how/where could he or she do it? I know BC is out: do eBay allow such things as long as certain words aren't mentioned? Thanks (on behalf of my friend!)
it could be an intermittent problem with SoundCloud itself - but like I said, it's working fine for me.
I've had this problem quite a few times... most embarrassingly at a songwriters' playback/critique session when my track refused to play That said, they all played for me, and I've cast my vote. One of my old lecturers used say that all "programme" music needs to work as absolute music, so I made my shortlist without considering the photo - I picked the tracks that engaged me the most as pure music. Of that shortlist, my chosen one does actually relate very well to the photo - but that's not why I chose it!

I'll be casting my vote at 23:59 at this rate... I think I listened to most of them as they trickled in, but I need to give them all a re-examination and all but one will be "going home" :-)

Please ignore the "price or trade value" which I got wrong (and may subsequently drop) - the price in the title and below is the asking price! Crafter GAE648CD/N electro-acoustic guitar - £150 A nice solid instrument in excellent condition: one nick at the heel, and a couple of small superficial (and hard to photograph) dings on the lower bout. Pictures - with lots of reflections :-\ - below. Collection - from Bromley or central London - much preferred, but can courier at cost. I'm possibly being a bit thick here: my excuse is that I was on a sabbatical from BC when the marketplace rules changed. I (of course) love BC, and also want to "thin out" the collection... but how do I "subscribe"? I don't want to dive in with listings and run up a bill of ad-hoc listing fees.
The world is, indeed, a mad place. New instruments attract a premium if they are deliberately damaged to make them look old, while old instruments attract a premium if they are undamaged so that they look new!
Crazy indeed. I'm intending to thin out my collection, so will have a tough time finding which ones are old enough to need cleaning up, and which ones are new enough to need distressing!
