AAARRRGGGHHH!!! PLEASE help me choose! *Decision made!*
I'm usually a big fan of matching headstocks but they don't always work well on burst finishes. I'd want to see the actual bass rather than a 'simulation' Black looks 'wrong' to me so natural gets my vote.
My views exactly. Anything other than natural is... unnatural! -
Then what you should do is have a second account with no friends simply for the purposes of entering competitions like this.
Cunning!

Meh, I don't "like" having to "like" something - effectively spamming my friends - in order to enter. Good luck to those who enter!

Damn you BC, the gas is building! If this comes out as a Squier 5-string I may not be able to justify not getting one

A very quick and smooth transaction selling my Frankenstein's-monster of a fretless J copy to Richard. Take his money with confidence ;-)

Now that I've popped my marketplace-seller cherry, how was it for you?
[pedant] Ukulele. [/pedant] Factoid: In Hawaii, the name roughly translates as 'jumping flea'. Another factoid, contradicting the first one: According to Queen Liliʻuokalani - the last Hawaiian monarch - the name means 'the gift that came here', from the Hawaiian words uku (gift or reward) and lele (to come).
Ouch, contradicting factoids.... can I get cream for that?
Is that a BB405? Only three knobs, so not a BB605. Edit: That £160 seems a touch more than the going rate for a BB405. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-BB405-5-STRING-BASS-/151082021557?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item232d30b2b5
Thanks, very interesting... I thought the BBs all had P pickups (I have a BB350 PJ), you live and learn. That eBay one included a hard case too!

FRANKENFRETLESS J BASS – NO STRINGS ATTACHED! £30 A true one-of-a-kind! I bought this just to see if I was fretlessly inclined: I was. I was also flatwound-inclined, so the strings have since gone on to a better place. The guy I got it from told me it was originally an Aria – there's a weird illegible plate on the headstock but otherwise no ID. It looks like the original finish has been stripped. It's was de-fretted and gloss-lacquered. Electrics, bridge and tuners all work. The nut is brass and is held in place by the strings – or would be if there were any. When strung and played, there's a buzz/rattle coming from somewhere – the truss rod? Loosely filled gaps where the frets were? I couldn't find the source, but the amp signal was OK. So this would be just the thing for someone wanting to try living without frets for a while, or for cannibalising... I know there are few tort-pickguard fanciers out there. Collection or local meet-up only – it's not worth couriering! - I'm based in Bromley and work in central London. Trade-wise, not after anything in particular, but open to suggestions.

Gone. But I'm tempted by the Yamaha 5-er... anyone know what model it is? And are their JJs as tasty as their PJs? http://www.cashgenerator.co.uk/bass/yamaha-bb-bass-guitar-rg3987

GONE: DELL DIMENSION E521 Vintage circa 2006/7 computer base unit with mains cable, keyboard, 2.1 speakers, system software and documents but No monitor and NO HARD DRIVE – The drive was "put down" for privacy reasons after failing to come to life. Resuscitation attempts included swapping controller slots with the DVD drive, which suggests that the controller is fine and that a new HDD will return this machine to its former (now ageing) glory. The case is a toolless-access design so it's just a question of slotting it in and plugging it in. The sub-woofer has lost its volume knob, but the satellite/sub balance can still be set by twisting the shaft (ooerr). Software includes Windows Vista SP1, Works 8.5 and Dell Drivers. I'm not sure of the spec, but it's an AMD processor with either 2Gb or 4Gb of RAM and dedicated graphics memory Collection from Bromley only, or possibly delivery to somewhere very local. Thank you!

Fender to finally make the Starcaster bass and reissue the Coronado?
ras52 replied to neepheid's topic in Bass Guitars
They have them in Wunjo's Bass Centre (along with the Starcaster). I like the CAR but the 4-in-a-row headstock doesn't work with a symmetrical body for me :-( -

Shame it's collection only from the Orc-neys. -
An old-school bristle shaving brush is the perfect tool for removing the dust and crud that gathers around the pick-ups, bridge, and under the strings on the headstock.
That is a seriously good tip. I was getting less than awesome results using an electric razor.
On the contrary: NOW you have seen everything. (Seriously, who the hell puts a LOTR-themed scratchplate on their bass? Are they also a fan of Dingwalls & Dragons?)
OK, I grant you that's the best picture of a dog fighting a lobster with a spoon I've seen today. -
