Mark is having a black friday sale on his "in stock" basses if you need a great P or J bass
.... is there a link for that (those) ?

Photos attached. Had this bass a while and, whilst it (now) plays really nicely (changed the strings in photos for Labella S/steps +set-up), I'd really like to re-incorporate the piezo bridge with the Delanos. This is what I was thinking, with some thoughts from the builder (Karl Eckert). I'd also like to reduce the neck from 'P' to 'J'© but that's obviously a job for a luthier (and will also depend upon the depth of the t/rod):- ".... Electronics are currently Vol - Pan - Bass - Treble (active EQ), and the switch does nothing. Not sure if the switch was orginally intended to opt between mag/piezo - that seems a bit odd to me, as it's generally better to offer a pan between the two (?). Idea would be to re-instate the piezo but with a way of such a pan (mag/piezo) whilst maintaining (or extending) the current EQ (possibly with an added mid range). Not sure how the switch might be(come) involved, or if better to use/extend this hole/rout to add another knob/pot' . If it's kept there, could be a simple on/off or active/passive switch?? (bass currently active only - no battery = no sound)...." From Karl.E ...."...The bass body wings are European Ash (heavier than the U.S. Ash, Swamp Ash) and has circular routed voids within each half under the Walnut. The through neck is made from European Maple and Khaya Mahogany with an Indian Rosewood face plate and Indian Rosewood finger board. All of the pre amplifier was designed for the customer so that it could provide a 500Hz volume but was changed a number of times in a number of different ways. A blend control was fitted to mix the piezo pre amp with the coil pickups. All of the pre amplifier side of things became unnecessarily complex, so I would expect a sane person to have made the relevant changes to simplify the electronics since then…It doesn’t look like there’s a pre amp for the piezo or the separate 500hz eq pre amp. It was absolutely crammed in there. I would be most inclined to get hold of a couple of more discreet pre amps with flying leads to pots but there will always be an issue mixing the two signals unless there is a pre amp on the market that does both? The bass had a great deal of sustain as a wooden instrument but might benefit from a pre-amp renovation.Hope this helps?........Karl.........." Looking for suggestions on what might be done/changed/added/combined to create a mag/EQ + Piezo (+tone) using the current 4-5 holes (assuming the switch-hole might be used for another pot/control). The piezo leads are all there/connected (to bridge) as shown in the cavity photos.I think there might be some basses out there which combine mag/piezo. Happy for ideas to be posted or PM'd.

Replied + ... didn't realise that this is a unit from our own KiOgon (John) who PM'd to say ' I can see that's one of my kits & if any buyer wants to know - I offer full backup & any help/advice fitting if they need it. It only needs a terminal block on the 3 wires to make it solderless connections too! They're £75/80 from me usually so £45 is a bargain for someone IMO.' (thanks for John for the PM and OK'ing me adding these details)....

Brand new John East j-retro for jazz bass. Original packaging c/w electrostatic sleeve, wiring diagrams and installation instructions. Custom flat response (as supplied to Overwater) version It has vol, blend, bass/treble pull for bright stack, passive tone with active/passive push-pull.similar functionality and in fact looks cleaner, as there are no micro switches. The four control knobs are as follows:1. Volume2. Pan3. Stacked Bass and Treble (With a push/pull bright function)4. Passive/Vintage Tone Control (push/pull active or passive)When in the 'in' position, the fourth control acts as a passive tone control, with the Bass/Treble stack redundant. Then when pulled to the 'out' position the 2 band active circuitry is activated and the control becomes an additional vintage tone controlIt's a similar design/concept to the J Retro / J Retro Deluxe replacement circuits but simpler to use (no micro switches). Fits all vintage style Jazz basses with a side mounted Jack (standard front mounted Jack basses require modification). The unit does have solderless connections for the pickups. This is boxed, comes with battery clip and Jack socket etc. £149 (incl) obo. SOLD

eubassix replied to eubassix's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I did message the guy with what I know about these, to his credit he's published my message. Hasn't re-worded the actual listing or its title, though...J.
.. numerous, gradually decreasing relists but with continued claim to this being MIJ :- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EKO-Camac-THRU-NECK-Bass-Guitar-MADE-IN-JAPAN-Matsumoku-/121766261471?hash=item1c59d5b2df http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EKO-Camac-THRU-NECK-Bass-Guitar-MADE-IN-JAPAN-Matsumoku-/121772587816? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EKO-Camac-THRU-NECK-Bass-Guitar-MADE-IN-JAPAN-Matsumoku-/121780213156? -

Custom Jazz Bass, described as "absolutely amazing, having been put together by Loueiro, a Galician luthier that worked for Jerzy Drozd"..:- http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 Any questions about the bass, please PM. I have no proof of the build but the components do match with those listed. There is no longer a case or the additional parts (including the neck pickup cover) but the bass is otherwise as shown in the photos etc.The bass does play/sound really good. Powerful and with a low, even action. Stays in tune perfectly.Price includes obo and Courier.

EKO Camac - Italian, or Japanese ??
eubassix replied to eubassix's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
There was a thread about this when it was first listed a few months back. Despite the similarities to many through-neck MIJ basses, these were Italian, variations on Eko's BX basses built for Camac, which appears to have been a German label: http://www.fetishgui...ears/eko-camac/ This particular bass appears to have had its body shape modified at some point, I'm fairly confident it was the standard Eko BX shape when it was made. The seller seems to assume it's an MIJ because of the through-neck construction, which he presumably thinks was invented by & exclusive to Matsumoku. Someone should show him an Alembic. Jon.

Seem to remember Eko having something to do with Welson which were an Italian manufacturer or distributor. They may have been built in the same factory but sold under different names...
Thanks Jon/dunc - really helpful. Some interesting responses from the current (re) seller re. origin and why it's been relisted so quickly :- "...Personally I think its made in Japan. But as there is no online information at all I am only making this guess based on my own knowledge of 80's guitars....... " & :- "....No reason other than its was too cheap not to flip. Clearly too rare for most people's set searches to find on eBay......"
