5.
Philippe Dubreuille Dick does work for a number of people including Bernie and Charlie Watkins. He used to do UK repair work for Mark Bass whilst they were being distributed by Proel. Yes Mick - passed some years now.
Thanks for that EBS-F (and also Russ) - just had a long chat with Andy Gibson who I knew from his time with Neil / Nightingale and who confirms most of the history, although he's a bit hazy about actual dates & 'crossovers'. I also added Andy to the list of recommended Luthiers/Repairers. He's now based in the basement of Chris Bryant Guitars, (busy end of Denmark Street, so handy for central London or if you're checking-out Tin Pan Alley). Andy has worked previously (from early 90's) with Bernie Goodfellow, Neil McDonald, Phillipe Dubreuille, Dan Dearnley (now guitar tech, for Eric Clapton) etc. I believe he's planning some handmade instruments with Daniel (former GMR rep/tech. in same workshop). He does constant work for Dave Swift (Jools Holland).... and Happy Jack (BC!)

 7.
Hello, I sent you an e-mail Kind regard
Thanks/replied. Payment pending on the 55-94 (from EU so will take longer). For Alph / others interested, I'll PM if anything changes. For those who expressed a serious interest in the Xotic XB/2-5 you'll need to let me know quickly as I'll be removing from sale once the 5594 is fully concluded.
 8.
This is a newer Nightingale - the older ones have a different body shape and headstock, with the old nightingale's face / yin-yang logo on the headstock - I had a very nice 4-string Nightingale back in the day, with the older headstock and body shape. This is probably a mid-90s example. Anyone got any idea what happened to Neil after he shut up shop in Denmark St?
Thanks for that info Russ. I think Neil is still living in Sutton and was more involved in playing (solo) around the clubs after he closed the basement unit in Denmark St. Last time I was down there, the French luthier (forget his name for now but will check back later) was using part of that unit. Andy (Gibson, who was always working with Neil when I visited Nightingale) is still in Denmark St. (basement of the first shop on the left, Tott.Court Rd. end) doing repairs, set-ups etc. Used to see Dick Straker there too (now with Bernie/GB .. unless that's changed?), Sad to hear that Mick (spray/finish artist par excellence) passed away.

 21. 55-94 on-hold until end of Sunday (5th) .. at which point (if concluded) Xotic will be removed.
 22.
WoW..Xotic's rather tasty..Can't find an SB2 - is it an XB2?
Yes, my error - current model is the XB. Not sure if it was previously SB. When I first saw them they were TB (early neck through or set-neck version/s):-

Lakland USA 5594 USA Deluxe :- Sold Sunday (5th). Quilt/Amber-Black-Burst Xotic SB-2/5 Early & original (rare) model Xotic XB-2C 5-string bass: 34"-scale, 24-fret, 3-pc. Maple/kingwood neck with brass nut - Nut 1.75”/string spacing 9/18mm (nut/bridge) - 2 Kent Armstrong soapbar pickups with custom Xotic active preamp. Controls: Master Volume, Blend, Master Tone, and 3-band EQ - Hipshot tuners and Kahler fully-adjustable bridge - Built-in Dunlop style strap-locks. The XB-2C or "custom" features an exotic wood top and back Only the top on the new models, I think), and ebony fingerboard with aluminium rings inlays. This bass features an exceptional Quilt mapletop/back with amber-black/burst finish and an ash core. It has a very wide range of available tones and a very powerful sound. The "B" string is very tight and focused. It's certainly one of the best fretted 5's I've tried - both my instruments have exceptional tones (slightly different / woods) and playability. The only other 34"/5 with this quality of sound & playability (I've found) are Marleaux. Neck Radius = 16R . Nut = Brass . Pickup = Kent Armstrong . EQ = Xotic Bass Preamp (18V) . Tuner = Hip Shot Ultra light . Bridge = Kahler Fixed 5-st /Black . Control = 1-Vol, 1- Master Tone, 1- Balancer (Pan), 3-band EQ + (Rear) 4-mid frequency Switch, Output Gain Control . [Switch] = Vol (push: series, pull: parallel for front pickup) Tone(push: series, pull: parallel for rear pickup). Strap Button = Jim Dunlop X 2 . c. 10-lbs. This bass comes with it's original hard-shell case and keys. This being one of the original Xotic company basses - Volume and Blend knobs are push-pull coil tap for neck / bridge pickup(s). A small amount of the "Kent Armstrong" lettering has rubbed off of the bridge pickup. Xotic instruments now available from BassDirect.
