1.
Christmas Bump for a beautiful MTD!
Thanks Chris ... final decision(s) imminent.
2.
any trades? with another mtd but different combination?
Thanks for interest/offer, but no wish to replace with another MTD 535. I'm getting quite a few trade/cash offers but would prefer to sell outright
3. Having recently acquired an exceptional Lakland 55-94 (couple of photos below) am considering letting this other exceptional 5 go, as the Lakland seems to sit better with the Kinal 5FL I’ve used for years now. This is a nice example of the older / original MTD bass (535 model / 21-fret). Features avadoire (expensive upgrade from standard) + spalted / figured maple body with a wenge neck / maple f/board, and different pickups (no longer available) from those Michael Tobias / MTD use on current instruments. The tone of these pickups is evident in Norm Stockton's playing / bass. This bass sounds similar – typically ‘MTD’ but with a different (‘thicker’) fundamental to current models/electronics (pickups). Everything's fully functional - the bass plays great and is in excellent overall condition – there’s a slim ding/groove on the edge of the upper horn and a couple of dings on the top/rear edge close to the back strap-pin but little else evident (front, back, neck, f/board, headstock all ‘OK’). Specs: model #340; 8.4lbs. weight; 21-fret, 35” scale; 1.75” nut; 9mm(nut) & 19mm (bridge) string spacing/s. Complete with the original (good condition) MTD case and the original documentation. I have a sensible/appealing trade+cash offer which I’m currently considering and will probably accept quite soon if nobody snaps-up the bass for ££ £2345 (inclusive of Courier)

5. update: Fralin J5 p/ups are now SOLD Rosewood covers remain available: £20 incl P&P DiMarzio J(n) dp147 @ £45 (incl.)
6. What are the dimensions cf. my EAiAmp500 (black) which is 366mm(w)x228(d)x88(h) but doesn't have the fans (noisy..?) or the very handy sabine tuner (which I do have on the EAiAmp200C). I really like this gear (I have the CXL112 and VL208 which work great with the 500). Intrigued by this model, which seems to have been UK (Ashdown?) made rather than USA (?)
7. If you fancy a Vigier but can’t afford an Arpege/Passion and/or are a bit more traditional (this bass has a 90% wood + 10% carbon neck) then this might be the bass. £sold
8. Got this via a trade. £sold
9.
So shes going on eBay at the weekend unless anyone fancies it saving for payday? Guys??
Remember that ebay have upped their FVF from £40 to £75: you'll need to start @ c.£960 to cover the ebay/PayPal fees to nett £850
10. No, this : http://www.dropmocks.com/mBl1XC from your OP doesn't work - Ican see the photos in post #7 clearly. Is it the same bass (iovu_1951)? ... seems to have the same unusual inlay on the fretboard (?)
11. Thanks for the photos (that link still doesn't work for me). Is this the Drozd Excellency 4 iovu_1951 had up on BC / ebay quite recently ( http://basschat.co.uk/topic/182359-sold-jerzy-drozd-excellency-iv-sold/ ) ??
12. J5 Rosewood Pickup covers (£20) DiMarzio J4 neck pickup Rosewood pickup covers Covers: 126 x 22(w) x 20mm / Internal: 112 x 18(w) x 22 mm. Rounded ends and with a cutaway This is the NECK pickup and new/boxed. The bridge pickup is available (above) to match. £45 posted DiMarzio's Ultra Jazz™ pickup The Ultra Jazz™ was designed to fit the original Fender Jazz Bass, which has neck and bridge pickup cavities of two different sizes. Some current basses use the same length pickup in both positions. The Ultra Jazz™ set, DP149, consists of two pickups of different lengths, with the neck pickup shorter than the bridge pickup. The pickups are also available individually as DP147 (short) and DP148 (long) The appearance of the Ultra Jazz™ is traditional, but the wide dynamic range and frequency response of the hybrid magnetic structure allows both vintage and modern sounds. As with the Model J™, hum cancelling is achieved with each coil sensing a pair of strings, rather than a stacked design; even with a relatively high DC resistance figure, the Ultra Jazz™ has very strong, percussive highs and clean lows. Wiring: Standard four conductor Magnet: Alnico 5 and Ceramic Output: 250 mV DC Resistance: 12.30K Year of introduction 1996 http://www.axiomatic...Bass_Style.html
