Fodera Monarch Deluxe - London / Orkney (?) craigslist
eubassix replied to eubassix's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Just a hunch, but when you travel on the bus, does the nutter always sit down next to you? Not sure what you've done to deserve it.
Not generally, but there have been a few. I thought it would be a couple of quick checks which is OK, but wasn't anticipating 28 messages in 12 days and some of the things I was being asked about or to do. Quiet since Thursday (!). -
That was a very a silly thing to do,as it is the only thing that that makes it obviously a Nash Bass.
Sorry Rich, my reply was a bit unclear: they (said they had) removed all References to Bill Nash on the ebay listing; not from the bass itself ! According to the current listing (itself a relist) there is 'J-63' in black pen inside the neck pocket and the neck is clearly a Warmoth. It seems odd to have a BN bass without the rear-headstock signature and, if it is an early one (the only time/period BN used Warmoth) then it's surprising that it looks so new. Bill himself queries the lack of aging on the neck, along with some other factors. And no idea if the hang-tags are still there ... again surprising, if it's an old/early bass that these would still be with it. I guess BN is getting something of a reputation and, whilst it might be hard(er) - in principal (any lawyers reading this?) - to forge his signature, it - again might - be relatively easy to write J-63 into a neck pocket and to produce some of the quite simple 'Nash' hang-tags . I don't think the hang-tags were ever shown on the auction, though.
Hi Dave, I thought Bill Nash signs the back of the Heasdstock.well he he did on the one I owned . and the neck is too shiney,Rich
Hi Rich - yes, that's the first thing I queried on the intial listing and they replied saying all references to BN had been removed. seems like they then relisted with the original description. I sent all the details in my OP to 'Mo' (1moreguitar/ebay) .. but he's not replied.
.... he's not getting it's a fraud is he?
....it appears not; I just hope he doesn't act upon the IBAN/BIC details he's been given; he seems to think that as these have been verified as genuine (via some website check) then it means it's a bona fide deal..... -
The 'Orkney' thing is a well-known technique designed to discourage viewing before purchase. It's a scam.

+1 - its a scam

If that bass is actually in Orkney and actually in the possession of the multi-monikered, multi-accounted, land line shy, website plagiarising Craiglister then I'll eat one of my basses with no aid from condiments.

well if anyone wants to pay for the flight/train-boat from Edinburgh I wouldn't mind a holiday in orkney, and ill bring the bass back to the mainland
Thanks / as expected: collated and to be forwarded. Latest Q:- Is there any way to secure the money into the bank and tell them about this bass and if this is fraud they can refund the money and sent this guy to the court ? !!!!!! -
Fodera Monarch Deluxe - Once in a Lifetime Opportunity - £1750 http://london.craigslist.co.uk/msg/2903255707.html Any comments / further knowledge on this one? Ask as I've now received 25 messages in 12 days via Talkbass from a guy in the USA who wants a Fodera but doesn't seem to think that 'if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is' - asking me if I could check the bank accounts, telephone number [07873879928 - instantly evasive], if I had a friend in Orkney etc. etc. etc. (!!!!) Seller claims to live in Orkney, calls himself both Vincent Huber & Arunas Vaitkevicius and seems to have bank accounts in Notting Hill Gate and Stratford. No PayPal, bank-transfer only. No collection (if anybody was planning a trip to Orkney!) Photos and description apparently lifted form Fodera site ages ago: a bit of a give away when he says .... "although I have owned and played the bass for several years now, Vinny, Joey and I (the three partners / owners here at Fodera) all feel that if one of our instruments is not being played, it should be passed on to someone else...." Chap in the USA seems to think that this bass is now sold and aks if I can find the person (possibly here) who bought it ............ ?! Discuss

http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1438.l2649 This looks - and probably is (was) a very good buy. I Could have had it for £789 on previous auction - maybe should have taken the 2nd-chance offer, but was put-off by receiving it almost immediately after the auction ended. Had the non-buying bidder not bid, the final price would have been £711 (previous start was £699). Queried this with seller - no response. Now listed £10 above my offer and £100 above initial auction. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1432.l2649 £809.10 12-Apr-12 14:14:20 BST £789.10 09-Apr-12 10:08:03 BST £701.00 07-Apr-12 23:35:24 BST £699.00 02-Apr-12 14:14:24 BST So, probably woth a bid for a top 5s Jazz, but be wary if you get outbid and then get a quick 2nd-chance.

FS/Feeler: Shuker Custom/fretless (lined) 6-string/withdrawn
eubassix replied to eubassix's topic in Basses For Sale
Thanks for that mate. Is there any sort of protective finish on the fingerboard from string wear? Cheers again!
No, but the f/board is very clean/smooth/unmarked - just some superficial 'roundwound' marks. Photos should show this; I'll add just the f/board photos here (*.... I have no idea as to how long this has been fretless, although it was first listed as such by the original owner in May 2011) -
If you can take a photo of it with 19mm string spacing that would be great
Will do so if I have time, but there's already some interest via PM and still have the re-fretting option. *I've just checked the distances between the bridge saddles (schaller/roller type adjustment) and they're at 19mm currently, so could even be set slightly wider (!). The bridge itself is 120mm wide. The max. distance from B (centre) saddle to C is c. 98mm. I've added a photo but will replace with one in decent, natural light tomorrow :- -
Hey mate. This is gorgeous! I know the bridge spacing can go to 19mm but can the neck width take it without the string falling off the edge of the fingerboard?
Good Question/point, and something I hadn't considered or tested. But I will do so and edit asap:- edit/update: checked, and it's OK. The f/board is pretty wide (not as wide as a TRB-6, and has a nice radius rather than being flat) - 55mm at the nut; 93mm (= 3 & [sub][sup]11/16") [/sup][/sub]at the 24th fret -
Listed as a 'feller' as I'm contemplating have JS refret the bass, but thought it best to list in case somebody is looking for a unique FL-6 quickly. Originally built (and later defretted) by JS for James Crofts. I've tidied a few things (replaced the stripped p/up height screws etc.) and oiled the f/board. The neutrik fitting is a bit untidy (and doesn't seem to lock).
Hi no i bought this elsewhere from Cotswolds guitars Cheers Paul.
OK/thanks Paul: guess that must be this guy ('croffets' / davidm) who ebays a lot of FCS in your locale (?) :- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120873845717?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Still convinced it's Mick's bass though. S/burst & marks to body front/back look identical and the serial no. (though a bit blurred) also looks the same.
