1. Kinal MK-5: Mike Kinal (Canada) five string with a beautiful quilt maple top in an amber stain. Matching head stock (quilt/amber) with a very nice birds-eye maple cap to the rear. Alder body core. Ebony fingerboard on maple + five-piece neck with graphite reinforcement. 2 Aero jazz pickups with Bartolini preamp, 3EQ and 3-way midrange selector switch. Scale length is 35", 1&11/16" nut. String spacing is 9mm at the nut and 17mm at the bridge. Weight is 8 & 3/4 lbs. Great condition - the only significant 'ding' (no effect on playing) is a small (.5cm) to the side (only) of the ebony board, between frets 1 and 2 (below the G-string). This is one of the best constructed, 'all-purpose' basses I've ever played. Slaps well, is punchy for rock and can also produce more mellow tones It comes with a high-quality gig-bag £1100 .. also offered as a pair of fretted+fretless Kinal 5's :- http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry501911
2. BUMP / reminder that these basses are still available. Had some (seemingly) serious trade/£ offers on the fretted bass, but these have gone nowhere .. so plan to sell separately - initially here, then I'll try on ebay. There was a lot on interest in the fretless bass when first posted - I'd be willing to sell that one (alone) now, as there seems to be lots more in the fretted bass in its own right. Both basses are exceptional and have the same quality of build, sound and playablity. They feel very similar - so do make an great pair: but it seems they're more likely to sell independently. Close offers invited on the intial post/pricing.
3.
I do like the look of the fretted I must say ;D
... there's been greater interest in the fretless TBH, possibly due to a fairly unique (and very effective) p/up + switches + EQ.. but the fretted bass is (also) exceptional. Thanks for the bump/comment & let me know if you're keen to pursue it !!
4. .... some photos here (the one on the right - natural ash / maple?) :- http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=custom+1970
5. Full dimemsions/weight are provided in the original listing .. obviously there's no point in including them if you don't bother to read them (?).
6. Currently on-hold/sold (buyer not certain it'll fit his bass .. so might be available again in the nr. future). Woody' - let me know if you're still interested and you can have first refusal if it comes back.
7.
I have the bass buddy preamp which is the same as built into this without the poweramp bit (the bass buddy can put out 10w, whereas this puts out 110w). Its probably the warmest bass preamp I've used. Its so warm and detailed that you hardly ever have to touch the five band eq, and the best bit is the compressor, which for a single knob solution is THE most musical compressor for bass guitar I've ever used (and believe me, I've used a few!). If I had £345 spare I'd be on this in a flash as this is just what I need for home practice. Have a bump on me!
Thanks JPJ for the ++ comments / bump and info. re. the pre/comp. - very helpful !!
8. Haven't got to use this as planned, so probably best to move it on .. if anybody's looking for an ultra small/high-end Combo. Virtually unplayed (home-only) and unmarked, still with original box/packaging, unopened-unused power lead and car-battery charger lead (there's no battery fitted, but these are available apparently), manual. One test I did do was to try the head section with some bigger 4-ohm speakers: it works! The tiny (Bass-Buddy) 100w head drives w/out problem (idea being to use with internals at-home and, if needed, bigger 4-ohms at venue). It's actually 110w @4ohms, 65@8 and 40@16 (according to the manual). TBC are currently offering at £439, BDirect @ £499 delivered. rrp is £549 Here's some PJB blurb: The BRIEFCASE is not your usual combo-practice amp. The most striking difference between this combo and others is that it features an extremely clean and powerful amplifier and full range compact speaker that can run on AC or DC power. It can accept voltages from 100 to 240 volts by using the voltage selector switch, can run on an internal lead acid gel battery (not supplied) or even an external 12V DC source such as a automotive starting battery. Though it is a dedicated bass amplifier, this unit will work ideally for other instruments, particularly acoustic variety due to its natural hi-fi sound character. This unit is also an ideal upright bass amplifier. The two 5 inch proprietary PJB drivers have been acoustically optimally loaded by precise computer analysis to provide a full-range, dynamic sound that can play down to an open E string with ease. The BRIEFCASE can handle an open B string if not too much bass boost is used. Specifications: SPEAKERS:2 high-power, full-range dedicated bass instrument loudspeakers in a computer-optimized, vented enclosure. POWER: 100W. WEIGHT: 28 lbs. DIMENSIONS: inch 6.5(W) x 14.5(D) x 15.75(H). INPUT: Active / Passive. FEATURES: Compressor/limiter, 5-Band EQ, Headphone out, Balanced-line out, Pre-amp out, Extension-speaker out. Ideal match for upright basses ... and some photos (below). I'll be sticking on ebay too, but intially looking for £345 (incl. Courier) / £328 (collect or own Courier)
9. Mostly ebayed for the coing w/end - so offers invited. Further apologies re. the Clapton set: I forgot about it again !! Will update with details/price asap.
10. Damn.. almost a deal concluded for the frtted 5, which would have made the FL5 available. So, still available. .. some more recent photos:-
11. Lots (more) interest in the Fretless (less so in the fretted bass). Willing to let go for a sensible offer for the PAIR .. or if I can get a decent offer coinciding, independently, for each.
