1. Are you using a compressor? if so, does it still do it when it is not engaged?
2.
Just to let all here know - Barnes and Mullins, Peavey's new UK Distributor, are looking to hire somebody as a National Sales Manager for the Peavey range. http://www.mi-pro.co.uk/jobs/read/national-sales-manager-peavey-uk/0400
I'm actually gonna give that a go!
3.
Or Dean
Hahaha! Oh man all that tacky crap they keep churning out makes me ill.. still, makes it easier to work out which guitar players to take a little less seriously
4. Ooh, Peavey International Series! I've got a four and a five string. They're really comfortable to play and have a nice mellow but clear sound.. but they're capable of some clank if you lower the action! See a lot of Orange ones for sale at the moment! Passive soapbar pickups, two volume and two tone knobs. Not sure on the body wood but it's very solid and surprisingly light
5. Yes it is! When my old band used to cover it I'd just cut out the bits in the verse riff where you play more than one string at a time. Easy peasy! Guy on YouTube called Tony Dickinson can play the whole thing perfectly though, and I bloody hate him for it
6. Bloody hell, cracking deal!
7. I appreciated it still not as good as this though! http://youtu.be/taRPwYe1EYA
8. I forgot about this stuff, most of it is still here!
9. Tough one! Perhaps try some old SWR stuff?
10. I absolutely love the 4003 bass, they aren't the most comfortable to play fingerstyle, but the necks are wonderful, the sound is awesome, and they look so coll! The only reason I don't own one is because my T40 does everything it can do and more!
11. I think he means the price, considering his avatar shows him holding a Squier he's probably not being snobbish
12. I know LaBella and Thomastik do em, but I'm not sure what availability is like in the UK!
13. Quality of rooms varies wildly! There is a massive amount of quality spaces with decent bass/guitar and drum equipment. However in my experience it's rare that you'll find a rehearsal studio with a good PA... I certainly never have anyway!
14. I heard a rumour that Entwistle might be bringing out more bass pickups this year, instead of just P and J! That said, if you're in a rush, Seymour Duncan make nice MM pickups.. As do Nordstrand but they're quite pricey!
15.
I dont think you can. You just stop visiting or logging in.
This. Your past posts will be helpful to many, and you won't have to start from scratch should you want to start basschatting again
16.
thanks Chrismuzz I'm wondering whether a Markbass head, paired up to a cab from a different manufacturere is a good idea?
I've tried one through alsorts! The insanely heavy Peavey TVX410 was one of my favourites! Sounded really bloody good through an Ampeg 810 too but it masked a lot of the clarity that I like about Marlbass
17. I was wondering when the next thread about this would pop up! Sadly, as the link Rich has posted explains, we are not able to allow it and it doesn't look like it's due to change any time soon.
18. you've got a cracking deal there mate, enjoy it!!
19.
Is the general verdict that Markbass amp heads are great, their cabs/speakers not quite so?
I think it's mostly that they sound very midrangey to peoples ears, because they are used to cabs with a less pure tone. You always have to adjust your settings when using them... However I have found that the tone through cabs is extremely close to what you get when you DI, so this works wonderfully! Another point might be that the smaller cabs have really harsh sounding piezo tweeters, and it's the bigger cabs (102HF and up) that sound better and more natural
20. I'm using .045 - .105 as Elixirs don't have steels in a higher gauge. Seems ok, teeny bit buzzy due to the bass stringing through the bridge and not the body, and my aggressive technique... Should be fine!
21. Great cabs these! To help your sale, try and get recent photos of the cab itself, including the back plate. Also, is it 4 ohms or 8 ohms? And good luck
22.
Do you run your markbass cabs with the ampeg?
I use a Markbass 4x10 with my Peavey Classic 400, sounds bloody wonderful
23. UK / EU crossover is fine, Loads of people buy amps from Thomann over here
24. I rarely spend over £200 for an instrument
25. Peavey, Yamaha, Squier, Ibanez. Can't go wrong with any of these! It's good fun whacking new pickups in them and having a ridiculous sound for very little money
