1. I don't personally like Rotosound strings, they don't quite have that edge that I like, or stay as bright as other brands I've uses. However I hear nothing but praise for their customer services, and they're well priced too! Makes me wish i DID like them lol
2. Only cab I've ever used with 12" speakers was the Barefaced S12T. If you want to stab your way right through the mix but still have a wickedly rounded tone and not steal all the sonic space, you could do much worse!
3.
Their customer service is spot on no doubt it's just that amp, I bought one for £40 once that was £50 too much.
Wayne, your avatar is f***ing mental
4.
Marketing, or "lies" as it is also known, is something to take with a pinch of salt. If Mark Bass cabs go down that low then I will eat my hat. That's nothing against Mark Bass by the way. What you'll be hearing in the "loudness" of the low A won't be the fundamental anyway.
Yeah its definitely not producing much, if any of the fundamental of a low A.. thats like 20Hz or something silly like that isnt it? It's mostly low mids which their cabs are a BEAST for! Very lucky that I get such great results with my rig, seeing as I knew bugger all about it when i bought it, other than that it was light and the best sounding stuff I'd ever tried!
5.
Just finished the grille cloth on my new Cab tonight ..
Wow that looks even better than I expected! Congrats and well done
6. Had my college audition the other week.. Went through a really old TKO 15" combo... set the EQ totally flat... Loved the sound!
7.
Well played
Phew, I no longer feel like a dick for laughing at that
8. Oops, noob alert Seriously though, I'm surprised this hasn't been done anywhere I've noticed it yet!
9. In all honesty I can't see where the hostility is coming from... Isn't the '15 string bass' just the same as one of those 12 string basses, but for someone who wants a low B? I've seriously considered the possibiliy of an 18 string bass before... Come get me
10. Don't be stupid... How are we supposed to do the all important slides?
11.
Then it definitely isn't seeing, and you're not hearing, a huge amount of fundamental (unsurprisingly). Though I think the MB are good cabs, there is no way one of their 410s can produce much down there at angry volume. I think the F1 preamp already has a modest amount of subsonic roll-off, but an additional, steeper low-pass filter wouldn't hurt at all.
Definitely, they advertise it going down to 30Hz before the standard rolloff etc etc... The low A used to be the loudest thing before I started using compression to tame it too!
12. My Markbass cab enjoys low A.... ...I love how every thread like this turns into a "No mate, you need to buy ALL THIS STUFF!" thread
13. And thankyou! She doesn't know yet
14.
Tuning up half a step shouldn't be a problem. I probably wouldn't bother unless there's riffs that need the open strings though.
C'mon man, we've all heard this sort of metal. The tabs look like binary code
15. How about a low A??! Seriously though with such a low tuning I HAVE actually run out of headroom before ... Wondering if I'd benefit from one of these...
16. 8 string guitars can sound immense... But it's very rare that those who play them don't crank up the lows on their amp... Shame!
17. Id take it back buddy. Those QC issues will probably never cease to piss you off, and for that sort of money you would expect something nigh on flawless!
18. I got some Newtones for tuning down to A with, .152 gauge. Sound and feel great! I even dropped it down to G once for a laugh and it was still very much playable/audible! They're good guys too, drop them an email and I'm sure they'll get back to you pretty sharpish with advice
19.
I've always fancied a 6er. I didn't like my 5er though. There's just something about them
I play my 4 and 6 fluently but for some reason 5ers have always confused me! By the way valhalalf is a great guy to deal with
20. If the prices were a bit closer then I would pay extra to buy it instore, seeing as you get service, advice, and the chance to try something out in a shop which you can't really get online... But that service isn't worth almost £400...
21. Congrats bud great setup! Really want to upgrade to MoMark some day
22. How many strings does a good bass player 'need'? One. I guess we're all a bunch of douches
23. A guitar won't go as low as that beast though. I'd never use that bass personally, I'd get lost with any more than 6 but if anybody can actually make something half decent out of it fair enough!
24. My uncle said the best bass sound he ever had was with an SWR redhead through one of these
