1. *doesn't make bad fish joke*
2. Sometimes the strings supplied with basses are pretty flimsy, I bet a new set will make the whole experience totally different!
3. Fair enough, I wasn't aware stating the value of offers was against the rules.
4. My markbass rig is in my front room, with my laptop, speakers and random odds and ends perched ontop, leaving just enough space to fit a brew. Expensive coffee table
5. He did originally ask for £400 though so it's up to him if he accepts £350 or waits for a better offer
6. Doesn't really matter what you do with them, as long as they're not in the way, which is unlikely to be a problem Over the years my 'spare finger(s)' move around less and less as I get more and more used to fingerstyle. Unless it causes issues don't even think about it
7. I do night shifts in a pattern of 4 on, and 4 off and so far I've been lucky in that most of my gigs arent on nights where I'm working! I do get around 20 odd paid holidays a year though as a backup plan
8.
Best strings I have tried recently..and I have tried a lot ..........are Newtone Diamond series. You can request custom winds and they are very easy to talk to via e-mail. All contact details are on their website. Handmade UK made strings...perfect for me..
Not really anything I can add to this except 'correct!'
9. That's awesome! Even a P bass hater like me would enjoy this one hope someone nabs it off you soon mate
10. Different strokes etc etc I prefer heavier gauges, as I play quite heavy handed usually, and allows me to have lower action without the stupid amounts of fret buzz I use to get
11. Shame I didn't see this topic before now.... I couldn't be happier for you dude! Even despite the major feckups it sounds like you got what you wanted and more cant wait to see the pictures of the ray.... And the bongo!
12. I currently have two, used to have four... will have that many again one day... or more
13. Four isn't many, I only own two basses and need at LEAST 2 more to have the flexibility I desire! Maybe you're just unhappy with one or more of your basses, or it's not being used often enough. I'm sure if you get rid of one you'll 'need' another!
14. Peavey make great budget basses and are really nice to play too
15. I thought judging by the ridiculous tones they were capable that they had to be active... which was the ONLY thing keeping them off my GAS-list Now I have no excuse! *drools and adds to xmas list*
16. I was in a band with a guitarist who swore by his spiky purple Kramer thing. Fit and finish wasn't great, and it had a muddier tone than I'd have liked. Never seen their basses before though, and if you like something it's ALWAYS worth a try
17. What the f.... THESE ARE PASSIVE???
18. I'd always prefer one of those Markbass Bass Keeper things. Properly tough velcro
19. I used to clean my entire bass with WD40, fingerboard is in fantastic condition
20.
....but he has been good enough to warn us not to confuse it with a genuine 50th Anniversary Jazz........big of him.
Barely! Sadl thing is, someone will probably fall for this
21. Congratulations I'll try to resist asking for a free bass
22. I'm assuming you mean plugging the bass straight into the mic input? I've tried that method before, on a crappy laptop with no decent sound card to speak of. Soundwise It's good fr rough recordings but I wouldn't use it for anything 'proper'. Your experiences may be better though and it won't hurt to try
23. I prefer to start off with a perfectly clean transparent tone (both pickups on full volume/tone, flat EQ, transparent cab), and then alter the sound to fit with what im doing. I quite like the sound I get 'straight out of the box' thankfully, but can't help tweaking it!
24. This is crazy. People spend more than this on awful bass packages from Argos and the like on a near daily basis! The person who finally sees the light and buys this lot will make a budding bass player very happy!
25. Totally agree with JTUK about Newtone Strings. They're amazing! I've had a set on my 6er for a year now and they're only just starting to go dull... I really don't look after my strings either!
