This has pretty much made my day. Well done mate the level of dedication you've shown with practically re-learning the bass shows how much it means to you, and im really happy to see you still able to do something you love.

I agree with the above, you might not 'need' an ampeg head if you're using a sansamp already. Then again it's your rig! Try it out if you can

I use a sansamp with my markbass head with great results! The head on it's own has a very clean sound but hey that's what the pedal is for also they are VERY loud and very reliable! You can get a little Mark or an f1 second hand and they'll both be within your budget!

First thing I thought when i heard this was that it sounds very like an upright

I'm a big fan of Elites Stadium Series strings, they're the best sounding, smoothest feeling off-the-shelf steels I've ever used, and they sound great too! They're not as cheap as the Warwick Reds but I think they're somewhere in between the price of those and the ProSteels
