1. I like to have one bass for each tuning I play in, and then one spare 'old faithful' that i can quickly put in any tuning in an emergency
2. Beast of a setup! Good luck finding what you want for it
3. My new cover band play everything either in Eb or drop C#.. works out pretty good as we play songs in a range of tunings from E to B. Its a happy medium, and I can do a whole set without changing basses
4.
Very true! I tune down half a step when i play Metallica - that's what they do themselves. An entire step would not be kind to the B (or A in this case!) string, though - it would vibrate at an uncomfortably low frequency.
If your strings are a high gauge and you have an efficient enough amp, a low A can do wonderful things
5. Drop your bass down a step. It's the only way to do it without getting confused!
6. I usually just play an aggressive style little groove, then move on to some fast melodic metal kind of playing. Showcase a few of the effect pedals, and If feeling particularly confident I'll move higher up the neck and do some widdly stuff but not so much that I get caught out I sometimes knock out famous basslines or riffs, or stuff from bands I am/have been in too
7. I had a Proco Juggernaut bass thingy. It was pretty rubbish and you'd be better off with one of the guitar ones! Though I use a Marshall Jackhammer that was given to me and it is capable of some really awesome distortion/drive settings. It's got a 2 band EQ and a sweepable midrange kinda thing going on which is really useful! Definately worth a shot.
8. Should be 3-5 working days mate. Hope it's with you soon enough
9. I have never used their amps, but the cab I used at a gig once was very close to as good as my markbass 4x10. And I will probably never buy another bass that isn't made by Peavey
10. I stopped wanting Ampeg the day I learned how to use my Sansamp
11.
"Under 10s e-mail me first" ?? Where is a 9 year-old gonna find £800? come on!
I'm guessing they mean members with less than 10 feedback To answer the OP... If the colours weren't quite so vibrant, and if that weird sanding thing hadn't happened i'd quite like it!
12. The strings definately feel tighter when strung through the body. didnt have the problem of practically pulling the bridge saddles off the bass when digging in either. Might have made the sound slightly deeper too but I didn't record it so take that with a pinch of salt!
13. Started odd promising but it did seem to turn into a huge mess around halfway through. Couldn't really rate the 8 stringguy, seems like he just wanted to put a load of distortion on and whack the thing!
14. You do have to pick the gauges yourself if you want them balanced which is what I did
15. So.. Should we get annoyed, or pity them?
16. Jack Gibson from Exodus has a really distinctive tone. I was chasing that overdriven high mid clanky nastiness for years!
17. Newtone strings! I got two balanced 6 string sets for under £65 and that included postage
18. Newtone strings do custom sets to your specification. Very reasonably priced and very high quality handmade strings!
19.
I was expecting to see pics of the surgical procedure.
Ditto!
20. I've never tried the 410 + 115 combination, but the 610 is a fantastic sounding cab. Wouldn't get one myself because it'd be an absolute bastard on stairs! For the price of one of those though you could get something much more manageable which you could end up liking more! My Markbass 410 cost me £899 brand new and they go for half that on here! Just some food for though
21. Its Most likely that it's considerably more expensive (I've seen the g30 system for £250 now!) But the Stageclix Jack system appears to be well worth the extra money, for the added convenience and reliability. I'm definately going to save for one and place the receiver on my pedalboard
22. I really like the rusty lookin one actually! Shame the basses themselves aren't suited to my playing
23. I've only tried a Digitech chorus. Sounded really great, but as has already been said it wasn't very transparent. Having the effect bypassed really sucks the life out of your tone
24. I have two Peaveys. Ones Ash or Alder with a bolt on maple neck. and the other is a through neck Mahogany with Maple. They sound totally different unamplified. But I've tried the Seymour Duncans in both and again you can barely tell the difference! In my opinion the only thugs to consider when choosing wood is the price, the weight, and how it looks
25. I should have watched the whole thing before asking stupid questions That's awesome! I'd probably never buy it but I can dream
