1. Lots of people don't think about it.. Even bass direct! You should always wrap pedals in bubblewrap before sticking them in the box for sending. Sure they're designed to be trodden on, stuck in a case then chucked into a van/car/etc but that's not the point!
2. Maybe remove the lid and put a small piece of foam or rubber in between where it connects with the rest of the casing?
3. Clearing out some strings and things that I don't use. most of the stuff is used, and any strings that are used are in a random box of another brand. All prices include postage 2 x Dunlop Super Bright stainless steel, gauges 45 - 105. These are brand new, unopened. £17 each [s]DR DDT drop down tuning strings, gauges 50 - 110. These are fantastic for drop tuning, I had no problem with drop B tuning with these because of some wizardry in the construction. They have been gigged twice, so £10 for these[/s] ***SOLD*** Warwick Red strings, gauges 45 - 105. Great budget steel strings, but not as bright as I'd normally like so I took them off after 1 gig. £6 [s]Newtone Diamond Bass. Custom 6 string set in stainless steel with hexagonal cores, gauges 34 - 46 - 63 - 85 - 113 - 152. I got these made to try and balance the tension when playing one step down. High quality strings but have had a few months use so £15[/s] ***SOLD*** Budget "Castle" brand spare low B and high C. Gauges 30 and 125. These came with a bass I once bought and I only used the middle 4 strings then forgot about these. £3? [s]Warwick Rock Cable Speakon to Speakon. They say they're 5 metres, they're actually about half that. One is used, the other is unopened. £7 each[/s] ***SOLD*** 7 way daisy chain cable for powering effects pedals. These have straight plugs, not right angles ones. £5 A Cable that makes a negative DC power cable into a positive one, for older pedals like the ProCo Juggernaut Bass Rat. I don't think you can use these on daisy chains with negative supplies. £2 Thanks for looking
4. I bought this a couple of years ago, but having replaced it with the Decimator I have no need for it any more! It's a basic noise gate with threshold control, but the main feature for me was that it has its own fx loop so you can have all your noisy pedals in there and the gate only affects those pedals, then you can switch them all off at once for a clean tone! Interestingly, any pedals in the loop get a (clean) boosted signal so you can drive them a bit harder if you need to. Price is £55 which will include delivery Cheers!
5. Just buy the Fodera, and hit it a few times with a hammer, you will be less bothered about road wear then
6.
Entwistle PBXN awesome pup for the money.
Yep. Stupidly high output, wonderfully full and clear sound. The aggression is right there!
7.
My mate didn't do so well - his rendition of House of the Rising Sun didn't strike a chord with the judges!
If its the guy that was on this weekend just gone, he was amazing!
8. Oh sh*t, I did win! Just found the email in my junk folder. Get in!!
9. I recently got the Zoom FP02M .. it's identical to the FP02 but it's made of metal. Definitely feels a lot sturdier and it works great!
10. I always thought my action was on the low side, but it's definitely more than 2.4mm!
11.
I won a set! WOO HOO
Congrats dude! I recently bought a set for just £30 so I feel like a winner too
12. That dual humbucker one looks lovely!!!
13. Seems you can get a lot of bang for your buck these days! Bass: £170 Peavey Millenium 4 string active (Thunderbird) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/243693-as-new-peavey-millenium-active-bass-l170-delivered-trades-added-or-why/page__fromsearch__1 Amp: £550 Markbass CMD102P (Thepapabull) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/252502-markbass-2-x-10-combo-mk2/page__fromsearch__1 Pedal 1: £150 Darkglass B3k (Dogz73) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/232576-darkglass-b3k-overdrive-distortion-l150-delivered/page__fromsearch__1 Pedal 2: £100 Zoom B3 (tredders) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/246543-fs-or-trade-zoom-b3-psu/page__fromsearch__1 Total £970 This is pretty close to my current gigging setup, apart from the bass being active, and I'd ideally want a 4x10 for more headroom but the combo is easily enough for any gig I've done!
14. It's taken an obscenely long time for something like this to be put into production!
15. My tube 800 has loads of warmth, I prefer it massively over the F1 I used to have
16. I don't know much about these pedals, but I think the DI version has a wet/dry blend too. You can use both either in the effects loop or the amps input. I like using the sansamp into my amps input so I can use the EQ for further tweaking
17. I have the 800 and I'm very happy with it. Different power amp to the one in the 500w F1 I used to have but I much prefer it. I'd say it'd worth the extra cash
18.
Just play more precisely...
Never!
19.
Chris...
My missus found me an amazing example of one from the states and I was finally allowed to get my hands on it yesterday it's bloody wonderful! I told her I'd be scared of wrecking it, but she insists that I give it the use it deserves as it would be a waste otherwise
20. I can't believe how hot the pickups are for such an "old" instrument! I don't know if it's because I've got the blade style ones or not but I can't wait to whack it up to gig volume. One other thing that really made me squeal with excitement was playing it unplugged. Even playing up the dusty end of the neck on the D and G strings you can REALLY feel the notes resonate through the wood. My entire body could feel every note really clearly. Amazing!
21.
Anyone who uses paypal gift? Or anyone who doesn't deliver goods?
The latter
22. Definitely a custom job. "Hi, I'd really like a jazz bass, but with a single split pickup at the front, a chunkier neck, and a less contoured body."
23. It's funny, when I talk about my Markbass amps I always say they're the size of a car stereo. But this even looks like one!
24. I tried DR coated strings twice, not the black beauties though. First set had a dead G string so I complained and got a replacement set (can't fault their customer service). But the strings only sound good the first time you play them, they pretty much die instantly! Bizarre because DR strings are amazing but the coated ones are horrible!
25. Great track! Have fun playing it though if you have a vocalist who can pull it off That's a guarantee!
