  1. I've only played through their front ported 4x10 combo, and it sounded like arse. So much mud, and if you dialed it out you became totally inaudible and weak. On the other hand a bass player put his behringer head through my markbass cab and it sounded pretty good. Seems to be a bit of a marmite situation, but it'd be alright for the money. I'd be more inclined to wait til something suitable comes up second hand though, you could probably get a decent ashdown combo for under £200
  2. Neck pickups are always a bit louder than the bridge in my experience. Best thing to do would either be to adjust the height, or the volume so they match
  3. Still very much available, and in dire need of a loving player!
  4. Markbass STD 104HF. The only reason I want a 2nd cab to go with mine is so i can have it closer to ear level. I'll never need to turn it up!
  5. I'd look at the Tech 21 offerings, they go from a very nice mild warm tubey overdrive, all the way up to dirty angry distortion!
  6. Those Nano Small Stones are great, got one myself and I much prefer it to the more expensive MXR phase 90s that seem to be the industry standard. Good luck to whoever picks that up!
  7. Cliff Burton
  8. What was wrong with it in the end?
  9. Korg Pitchblack does me fine and I tune down to A
  10. Alas, but however much I'd love a jazz style bass, no funds good luck with it though!
  11. That is fugly... I like it!
  12. Shine basses are great, absolutely great. I agree about the neck dive thing though
  13. It could be the battery is running a little low, I'd try that first. Other than that I'd look at turning the bass's volume down, or turning the Gain down a bit. If they're already fairly low it might be worth puttig another bass through it to see if it might be a problem with the amp. It's unlikely but it could be the case
  14. I like the EHX Neo Clone. Only costs £50, is very easy to use with just a Rate knob and a Depth switch while still being plenty versatile for what I need. very nice clear sounds, and true bypass!
  15. Those Mesa cabs look the sex with the black grill!
  16. I've never managed to achieve distortion just going through the amp, even with the gain on max! Either the output on your bass is ridiculously high, you need to change the battery in your bass, or something in your chain is a bit dodge How long have you had this setup? And has it always had this problem?
  17. I've got one of these cabs too, amazing! You'll never be lacking in low end, and the definition is like no other! You might want to put in your ad whether it's 4 or 8 ohms though mate EDIT: I might want to read the ad properly before I offer 'helpful advice'
  18. Intriguing! I hope therer are many more varieties coming... Perhaps a P body, J neck, with a humbucker/J pickup combination
  19. This is where Pete Academy hails from. great store with great products and the staff ain't bad either
  20. That's gorgeous! If only I had the money...
  21. Available again! grab a bargain
  22. Laney amps are good too! My first amp was one of their 2x10 combos and it served me well for years
  23. If the active/passive switch is set to passive, put it to active which will reduce the gain a bit.
  24. That really doesn't sound right! The guy who tested it, did he actually hook it up to HEAR what as happening?
  25. Multi effect units are way beyond my comprehension too. Last one i had was so confusing i just sold it! I prefer individual pedals, with as few knobs as possible
