Ampeg PF-500 + Barefaced Compact. Gone from a SVT450H + 610HLF to this and I'm not regretting it at all
That PF500 looks so much better here than in the stock photos!
Would you say the BF Compact sounds similar to the 610HLF then?
My favourite bit is the little ad below, 'For the discriminating bassist' -
That's a typo. It should read 'discriminated', surely!
I know I've commented on the other exact thread, but if this was more sensibly priced I'd be all
over it.......

Seen that before! Loving the choice in preamp, and the bridge looks nice. But a 14mm spacing? That's crazy talk!
But,'the best'? Whichever you like the sound and playability of-it doesn't matter if it's a Tanglewood or
a Fodera.
I totally agree with this. Hence my love for cheap and cheerful Peavey's. I've played pretty much every production model bass out there, and I always find myself coming back th them
I actually quite like the colour of it, i have no idea why, but if they sold them over here i would probably go for an SR706, as its essentially the same bass but with a flamed maple top and has 2 colour choices i think.

I like the look of those too! I'd definately get the black though, obviously If it had a 35" scale I'd have gone for one of those instead of the Peavey
I love my Peavey Grind, also very fast neck, looks almost like a boutique bass, and has a 35" scale but you wouldn't guess it! But most would say the passive electronics are somewhat inferior. I like them personally
Did you play at Glastonbudget by any chance?
They did! I wanted to go see, but oh well, I get to gig with them in about a month's time at The Grapes in Stafford
I found i got an extremely punch sound 'right out of the box' with my markbass setup. Easiest amps to set up as well! You don't really need to mess with the EQ, just the VLE and VPF filters to give the sound a different character.
You could very well get a great sound out of the trace gear too though! It's usually best to start off with everything set flat, or in the middle and go from there. mid frequencies are your friend! They might not sound too pretty when you're playing alone, but when youre in a band setting they are the frequencies that shine through and really give your sound an actual sound!
Markbass gear in a nutshell - light, loud, and very clean! And you WILL be heard in the mix! I love mine, but you may find yourself wanting to get a pedal or two to give yourself a bit of grit sometimes
Welcome to you both then! I joined late last year but still feel fairly new myself
The marketplace forums on here are an absolute godsend (or are they?? ) Most of the contents of my pedalboard was bought from the lovely members here! I'm sure you'll find loads of toys to play with
I used to tune up my B to D for certain tunes. Never caused any issues but you might want to do a setup and get a lighter gauge string if you are keeping it that way for any extended period of time
Nice rig. And I assume that's your band's logo in your avatar, another great job by christophe! Did you ever meet him or just deal over the net?
Christophe Szpajdel? He did my band's logo!
