1. If you're referring to what I think you are, you're missing a strap button, have a look on google to see what I mean, you should be able to pick some up very cheaply
2. For a sick example of distorted bass in a heavy metal setting, check out Walls of Babylon by Symphony X, about 3:10 in. It's not super duper fuzz bass but it sounds great! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA3DMiSVPyM
3.
Nah, it's actually a clever marketing ploy so that all the slappers and fretw***ers have more room to show off in. Apparently, when someone chooses to "demonstrate their skills", a gang of screeching girls appears from nowhere and flocks around the potential customer. This helps to support the customer's delusion that their "skills" attract ladies, in turn increasing the chance of a sale by nearly 150%. True story.
That would actually work. Let's open up a store!
4. I've got one of these, it was my first 6er. Great bass! Plays really nice, trying to sell/trade away but it's hard to see it go so I'm not trying all that hard if I'm honest Anyone wanting to start out on 6 strings should really give this one a go!
5. Guitar Pro is a good program, most user submitted tabs on the net are pop, rock, and metal but that's what I'm after You can also play along to the tabs either as MIDI, or a reasonable sounding 'Realistic Sound Engine'. It's not free... but I might have been tempted to be a bit naughty and get a cracked version. Not saying I did, or that you should do that with it being illegal and all
6.
Yeah, love thatn one. Then if you take pity on him, he changes all your settings, making the sound check you just did a waste of time.
Makes me so happy that I play with the settings on my head flat/off I still hate seeing players max out the gain, and cringing every time the clip light comes on...
7. This is a great cab, especially for the price it's going for. I used one on a gig, with a 6 string tuned down to A. It can definately handle the full range of anything you put through it, an absolute monster!
8. Man I remember being there!... It gets easier And once the initial nerves wear off chances are you'll love actually interacting with other players, and you'll gain a lot of confidence too! Good luck mate! EDIT: I still get nervous playing solo in front of other people sometimes
9. 6 strings? Isn't that just a guitar?
10. Currently doing negotiations with badboy1984 so temporarily on hold for now. Cheers!
11. I've not played a Zodiac myself, but I can highly recommend Peavey's for their playability. Michael Lepond from Symphony X uses them nowadays though, and I think the bloke from Megadeth used to as well. Plus they have Seymour Duncans fitted as standard! Give one a bash if you can find one
12. I don't know about the used prices of these, but I reckon a markbass combo would be right up your street mate
13. On TIM... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=111461 Read and be enlightened!
14. I've got a 104HF, front ported version. It's essentially the same cabinet except the low end is projected forwards, and in my opinion a lot more efficiently, which I find fantastic for playing live. It's quite large for a 4x10, but due to the weight it's perfectly possible to carry it one handed... if a bit awkwardly! The sound is brilliant, Bags of low end, without it being muddy. Very clean, clear and articulate, with a lot of focus on the midrange. The horn is of top quality which produces very clear highs, and the attenuator is very handy if you want to turn it down/off. I currently use it in a metal band with 2 guitarists, never once have I had a problem being heard. I cut through the mix without obnoxiously stealing all the sonic space. It's the highest quality piece of equipment i've ever used. It doesn't colour the sound at all. unfortunately for me, I've decided I like the tone to be coloured somewhat, and so I've decided to put it up for sale/trade. Interested?
15. I thought I was set for life with my Markbass F1... GAS!!!!!!!!!
16. I love Yamaha BB series basses. They sound amazing for metal esppecially! the Passive ones are my fave

18. That pickguard is mind bogglingly awesome!
19. I haven't even read more than the title and I love it already
20. Welcome Dave! I tried to play bass for 5 years, and i've been spending the next three learning how to pretend
21. Hearing Marcus Miller do a slap version of Teen Town was pretty interesting though to be fair!
22. No problem, and thanks for the info mate! Good luck with the sale
23. +1 on the love for Ed Friedland Slap bass seems very gimmicky to me. I don't hate it, I just hate when it's overused, or used inappropriately. Sadly this is often!
