Pretty ugly. Do t in black, and get rid of all the knobs and you've got a nice looking bass

I usually aim for close to the nut as possible, and hit as many open notes as possible when I'm playing riffs or anything that requires an aggressive sound. If I'm playing melodic lines I will try to play high up the neck and avoid open notes altogether, for a warmer more consistent tone

Happened on DV247 with me too. Said I'd be waiting up to 2 weeks for the order to be shipped. I was fine with that I wasn't in a hurry. 6 weeks later I received an email being told they'd update me once a month telling me whether or not they'd be able to ship anything that month. Cancelled the whole order. That's £600 spent elsewhere that they won't be seeing! Edit: It was my first order with them too! That's the thing with first impressions, you only get one.

Turned up at 6:30pm with all our gear for a gig the other night. First band was due to start at 8pm and we were on at 8:50pm. By the time we were due on the first band hadn't even started because the sound engineer hadn't even bothered to check the PA was working. Which it wasn't. At 9pm they had managed to get things working, barely... "F*** this." we all said, and just packed our stuff and went home!

David J - Bauhaus. Whacked out bass tone..how?

Wow this reminds me of being a teenager I never realised that filter sound was being produced by the bass back then! Shows how much one's ears mature over time! Sounds to me like you could get this exact sound with the EHX Bassballs, even if that's not what David J used -
With a natural finish it'd be nicer

By the sounds of things you're willing to put in a hell of a lot more effort than the average band member. You're definately an asset to them! And when you're finished getting all the songs down you'll be so well practiced you'll probably be the tightest guy in the band!

Wow you weren't kidding when you said low! That's some heavy stuff man. If you ever want a gig in Stafford hit me up \m/

Guitar Pro is actually tab software, but it also makes an attempt at converting the tab to standard music notation. You can also choose whether to display the tab/music/both, and print them out. If you've not tried it already it might be worth a shot

Fantastic bass resource -transcriptions, videos, interviews etc

I've actually visitied this site before, due to a thread someone posted linking to the 'What People Want In Their Bass Player' article. Some really interesting stuff on that site, it's just a shame it's a little difficult to navigate -
I have used marshall bass amps. They sounded alright on their own, but were paper thin in a band mix. I had a cheap Laney combo that sounded better!
It's always a point missed in these threads that in the same way someone who likes an Ampeg won't automatically like all valve amps not all class D amp fans like all class D amps, I'm not fussed for MarkBass gear for example.
Perhaps more shocking, I'm not fussed about Genz Benz!
i'm only aware of one which is the MarkBass Classic 300. chrismuzz. what i want is punch and bark. i've never gotten that from a SS or hybrid head.
My F1 has plenty of punch. I can dial in some bark if I'm quite fiddly with the VLE and VPF filters, but it's definately a very hi-fi sound. Couldn't really compare it with a nice valve amp, but added with a few pedals, it works well for the music I play, however it might be a different story for yoursef. I've heard good things about the LMIII, and the Little Mark Rocker heads, but I've not had a play with them myself so I wouldnt know To be honest if I were in your position I would just stick to what I knew as well another spelling related edit

A common misconception is that lightweight rigs are incapable of producing a nice big low end. It may be the case with some brands but my rig actually produces a bit too much sometimes and I have to attenuate the lows a little! I think lightweight gear is incredibly convenient, and i'm more than happy with the sound of mine so I'm lucky enough to not have to bother with the heavier stuff any more. So in my own personal world, light = better edited because my spelling appears to get worse by the day

Wow that natural one is gorgeous. Are those... Nordstrand pickups?

You're not alone! I have particular problem with being recorded because I know somewhere along the line people are going to hear JUST my bass on it's own and therefore be able to pick out any minor inconsistencies.
-
My cab has a frequency range starting from 35 Hz, however I'm tuned down to A which is at 27.5 Hz. I have no problem with loudness of clarity. Apparently it's something to do with harmonics being produced as opposed to fundamentals. I'm no scientist though

It doesnt matter if you remember or not. Nobody pays attention to the bass anyways But in all seriousness, there's nothing wrong with having little reminders in practice. Even having them on a gig is fine! I've seen lyric sheets on stage floors before. In time that short term memory will become long term and you may not need them at all, but don't feel bad about having to make do in the meantime It's better than fluffing up right? And if the guitarist has a problem with it just promise you'll hide them behind a monitor or something like that

I was always a straight up bass - amp kind of guy, until I started hearing all those modern heavy metal tones and became the biggest tone chaser i know! I'm more or less satisfied now, but I still seek certain effect pedals.. Some are useful for my band, some less so, but they're all fun to use

What are you listening to right now?
This lady of yours. What are those two things under her bottom lip? I mean the two SMALL things under her bottom lip.
Ahaha I was gonna say there's no mistaking the slightly larger things... They're black studs, having your lip pierced in those 2 places is known as 'snake bites' -
Like Mr Fudge, i love my lightweight MarkBass stuff! And yes I dirty it up with my SansAmp, but I prefer to start with a clean slate and then mess around with pedals because the super clean tone is useful to me and I find it gives me more tonal possibilities without too much of a compromise. Plus the combined weight of my pedalboard, head, cab, bass, and leads still weigh considerably less than most cabinets!
Do you not mean spend it now otherwise the offspring/other half will just spend it on crap
Fixed it for ya

I'd love an endorsement which is probably one reason why I'm pretty much a walking advertisement for everything I use. Someday someone will take notice ey?

I was about to make a joke, but that website saved me' the trouble

I used to have a Laney which had a great rock/metal sound if that's what you're after. Gigged with it for 5 years and only sold it because I blagged the money for a markbass rig
