1. Wow I didn't think that possible with those gauges! They've surprised me once again! Hope you get on well with those dude
2. I love my markbass f1 but if you don't want clean sounds you would do well to get a pedal to dirty it up a bit, or find something else. I used to have a laney rb7 before that, it had a nice sound but in a band setting it always sounded really thin and didn't really cut through.
3. They have a price list on the website. Including the prices of extras such as fr example custom gauges. My 2 sets for my 6er including postage set me back around 64 quid. So probably work out cheaper than an ernie ball set
4. My missus grabbed my iPhone.. Not sue what she did to it lol. I asked them to make stainless steel ones so they do have a nice bright sound to them yeah! The only brighter strings I've heard were bass centre elites. But they don't do them in crazy gauges!
5. +1 on the Newtone Strings front! I'm tuned ADGCFBb and my bottom string is a .152. Works great! Pop them an email they're sound guys and should get back to you fairly quickly. Ps tittie bum

7. I'm far from an expert but it defo looks like a genuine Fender
8.
It would be very interesting to get a number of basses - say 6 jazz or precision basses in a range of prices and makers, from the cheapest to the most expensive and have them all set up with the same strings, action etc. Then let players test them through the same amp with the same settings in the same room - blindfold. Those players would then be asked to rate the 6 basses in order of preference - I wonder what myths would be challenged and/or supported.
I'd love to see this actually
9.
true, its just like jazz bass, i would either get Fender or Squier, none of the rest that looks like it. well, thinking about it, only Fender really... I dont know why, i just dont like fake stuff... kinda feels like downloading an album from a torrent instead of having the real thing... just feels wrong to me
I fully understand that, I'd love a Jazz one day but it would have to be a fender! Though I wouldn't object to a Sadowsky/Nordy/Lakland either
10. I think the 'covering up bad technique using effects' thing has probably stemmed from bedroom guitard shredders who use high gain tones with heavy delay and reverb. Thankfully this doesn't seem to be very trendy any more
11. I should be sleeping too! Cursed night shifts! Last 2 nights i have been dropping off at my desk!
12. Come on it's common knowledge the guy doesn't like fakers
13. Haha what a great guy

Post Count

Not a major issue but I've noticed tonight that my post count only seems to go up by 1 for every 2 posts that I make. Has anyone else noticed this? Or am I losing my marbles? EDIT: And then he realized that Off Topic posts do not count
16.
For me it's all about making changes that fit the song, not changes because you feel like it or you want to look cool.
For me it's kind of a combination of all three of those things if I'm honest! Except for the compression which I use so that my low A string doesn't overpower everything else in a shroud of mud!
17. As long as it's not THIS...
18.
Oh without a doubt. I've played many times with the effect of large amounts of alcohol and thought I was bloomin' marvellous!
If you still sounded good to your own ears you weren't drunk enough
19. Haha good old auto-riff! I wonder if anyone's ever used it for anything serious instead of just mucking around
20. All I need now is an anti wrong note modulator
21. Those bezels are a brilliant idea!
22. I never used to use any. And as far as most bassists I know personally are concerned, most of them still don't! A bass player with a pedalboard is still kind of a rare thing to see. And even those who do use effects usually just have something with overdrive/grit. Maybe compression, and sometimes the odd time based pedal which gets used for all of 2 bars throughout a 40 minute set lol
23. Bass must be becoming cool. I get noticed at gigs and everything. And people even cheer when I solo :S
24.
I've never quite got the hang of compression - I don't actually want all the notes to come out the same volume all the while, and if I do then I just adjust my playing style.
I never quite got the hang of making all the notes coming out at the same volume. But if i want them to I adjust my compression
25. Looks like it's got Seymour Duncan's on it, and it's in good nick. Steve Bailey used to play a 6er of one of these so they've gotta be good.. But still, that's a very ambitious price!
