I love my markbass f1 but if you don't want clean sounds you would do well to get a pedal to dirty it up a bit, or find something else. I used to have a laney rb7 before that, it had a nice sound but in a band setting it always sounded really thin and didn't really cut through.

They have a price list on the website. Including the prices of extras such as fr example custom gauges. My 2 sets for my 6er including postage set me back around 64 quid. So probably work out cheaper than an ernie ball set

My missus grabbed my iPhone.. Not sue what she did to it lol. I asked them to make stainless steel ones so they do have a nice bright sound to them yeah! The only brighter strings I've heard were bass centre elites. But they don't do them in crazy gauges!

+1 on the Newtone Strings front! I'm tuned ADGCFBb and my bottom string is a .152. Works great! Pop them an email they're sound guys and should get back to you fairly quickly. Ps tittie bum

I'm far from an expert but it defo looks like a genuine Fender

I think the 'covering up bad technique using effects' thing has probably stemmed from bedroom guitard shredders who use high gain tones with heavy delay and reverb. Thankfully this doesn't seem to be very trendy any more

Not a major issue but I've noticed tonight that my post count only seems to go up by 1 for every 2 posts that I make. Has anyone else noticed this? Or am I losing my marbles? EDIT: And then he realized that Off Topic posts do not count

I never used to use any. And as far as most bassists I know personally are concerned, most of them still don't! A bass player with a pedalboard is still kind of a rare thing to see. And even those who do use effects usually just have something with overdrive/grit. Maybe compression, and sometimes the odd time based pedal which gets used for all of 2 bars throughout a 40 minute set lol

Bass must be becoming cool. I get noticed at gigs and everything. And people even cheer when I solo :S

Looks like it's got Seymour Duncan's on it, and it's in good nick. Steve Bailey used to play a 6er of one of these so they've gotta be good.. But still, that's a very ambitious price!
