  1. 3 words... Major Tone Suck!! Oh well at least my low A string didn't destroy the venue this time lol.
  2. Haha thanks, wasn't even intentional
  3. I quite enjoy my passive Peavey strangely... plus whenever I do gigs I get people wowing over it because it LOOKS like a boutique instrument, and coupled with the Markbass you can't be blamed for thinking it sounds like one too

My only experience with an MM bass was with a Stingray 5. Not a good one either! I love the sound but I simply could not play it! Felt strangely uncomfortable, and I was getting string noise all over the place. I had the same experience with Warwicks... Am I doing it wrong?
  5. Thanks yorick. I'm sure they shall, I didn't expect a barrage of replies at half 1 in the morning You've got some nice basses by the way. I never got on with MM's myself. Love the sound but they don't feel right to me for some reason. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong!
  6. Colour is TOO important for me! I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the new Peavey Grind 6ers to come out JUST because they will be in black
  7. Wear a fake beard, you'll get 10 offers a day!
  8. I agree with escholl. I play fast metal, using a very aggressive fingerstyle, mixed with a little bit of tapping. It's VERY difficult to get tapping on higher strings the same volume as a low A! After 7 years I've finally decided to begin experimenting with a compressor. (a SUPER cheap Behringer DC9 for £16. If I don't like it, no harm done!) Got my first gig with it on Wednesday so I'll post my results.
  9. I would try the Sansamp Bass Driver, or VT Bass, more of an overdriven tubey sort of sound than a fuzzy distortion. Check out some clips on youtube and see what takes your fancy
  10. I went from 4 strings to 6 after discovering Dream Theater. To be honest I probably don't need the high C string that much, but it DOES make it easier to play a wider range of notes without moving around too much. Lazy? Maybe!

    Hello!

I've been a long time lurker on basschat, learnt a lot of stuff and had a few giggles so I thought I'd finally join up! I started on guitar, but made the permanent switch to bass about 7 years ago and am now exclusively a 6 string player (I know, should have just stuck to guitar right? ) As you can guess from my avatar, I play metal, and I like beef All my current gear SHOULD be in my sig if I've done it right! And obviously I'm GAS-ing for some more! Cheers
