1. Ok so I only ordered this last night, but I really can't wait! I regretted selling my F1 within a couple of months, and when I saw that thomann had a B stock model for £518 I just couldn't say no! I'm super impressed that it was dispatched within 12 hours... What does everyone else think of this amp? Seeing that the F1 is the best amp I've ever used, will I love this one as much??
2. Maybe they should bring out a head and call it AvecAmp
3. Open to reasonable offers
4. I always had to cut the lows on markbass gear cause its so hefty. Insane amounts of headroom!
5.
Good going, Chris. Too early to say 'Happy ChrisMuzz'..?
I've never heard THAT one before I guess it beats someone asking my girlfriend if "Chrismuzz comes early" for her...
6. The SPB4 pickups are quite high output aren't they? And with them being technically a single coil that would be louder anyway. You'd be best off just boosting the gain on the SSBs
7. My Peavey Grinds have a 16mm spacing and 35" scale length. I like the tight spacing to make the neck less chunky, and because I never use slap it doesn't restrict my technique. I can't dig in as much as I like to with my 4 stringers but it helps me play a bit cleaner! 35" scale length certainly helps keep tension when tuning lower than B, though it can make playing on the lower frets a bit of a stretch if you're going up any more than two frets, so for standard tuning, 34" should be plenty!
8. Still for sale, or trade towards a Markbass amp
9. Cheers guys I'm starting my new job tomorrow, and I've just been announced as the new bass player for Guts For Glory!! http://www.facebook.com/officialgutsforglory They have a four track EP which is available to stream and download here: http://www.reverbnation.com/gutsforglory1
10. If he hadn't turned up with his own bass it'd be a no. In this situation, unless he'd carelessly dropped and broken it or something similar,I would have to say yes.
11. There is a "Bad Jokes" thread you know.
12. ...and two weeks later... One of the friends I've made since moving down here has contacted me to tell me his originals band have sacked their bass player, and they want me to learn 6 songs for an audition tomorrow evening! Aside from that, since being made redundant a few weeks ago I have just started a new job... but received an offer for another much better paid one which is only a few miles from my home! I don't know what's going on at the moment, but I like it! So all in all a very happy ending to this little tale
13. That's great I seem to hear more and more stories like this recently!
14. I would always go with the amp that gives me my sound. Playing live with a sound that doesn't quite cut it is really frustrating to me! By all means try experimenting with pedals and other amps to try and get that sound in a more lightweight package, but until you do I would say to keep the Marshall
15. Maybe try a graphic EQ and get rid of the lower frequencies that you can't really hear?
16. Its an International Series as kodiakblair has said. I got one for £100 and even though they're incredible basses even at the price its going for, its just too much to pay!
17. Because we secretly want more of the limelight?
18. Biggest bargain on the pedal market right now! If you get bored of it there's a mod you can do to get rid of the mid scoop too
19. Still available and taking up space bump
20. If anything, they went TOO far with their customer service. This is amazing. Hats, shoes, and underpants off to them
21. When the guitar player is soloing its more important than ever for the bass to keep a solid foundation. I used to really try and overplay and it always sounded like we were "going off on a tangent" rather than it being part of the song. Dave La Rue is a perfect example of a rock bass player. He's got the chops, knows when to use them, and more importantly, when NOT to!
22. Marshall Jackhammer can be picked up very cheap! I also have seen Ashdown lomenzo pedals go for around £50 too and I strongly recommend either of them
23. I've always asked the band exactly what they want from me, even with regards to the kind of bass tone they want! Then I tell them what I have in mind and see what they think. Using the original bass lines as a starting point would be the best way to go about it
24. I've always liked them. Borrowed a Hartke Kickback 12" combo before I got my first amp and it was loud and clear as you like!
