1. The single coils on these basses are incredible! Strange how two of the tuners are heart shaped...
2. I remember the thread about this bass... Bloody gorgeous! Good luck with the sale, and your new home!
3. I didn't know 5 string Foundations existed, this is too cool!
4. Get black drivers!!
5. Great stuff! It's so cool how affordable a quality setup is these days.
6.
Well used this at an actual rehearsal it's a wee bit overpowering I really had to bring down the patch level in the total menu. Don't know if this is the best way of doing this but it just seemed pretty full on. In the end it sounded excellent.
Yeah they have a super hot signal! I've set my level to 100 on the global settings and only ever had one sound guy complain about it so far
7. I have heard that the DHA pedals are great for keeping your tone but adding a bit of drive. I don't know how much gain you like or how much they're capable of but it's worth looking into!
8. A lot of it is personal preference, but I would put the tuner first so you get the cleanest signal into it, then the compressor to even things out, then the overdrives/preamp (in whichever order sounds best), with the phaser last.
9.
Try starting a thread on Hip Hop on here and you'll get the same sh*t. 'Wha wha wha, it's crap, it ain't music, them rappers can't even sing, it aint f***ing music, there's no skill' etc etc. And it's bullshit because they only know about the hip hop they hear about in the news and on mainstream music channels, they don't know about the political rappers, the rappers that want to have a positive influence rather than rap about hos and $$ , the underground hip hop scene - they are ignorant, and yet they are musicians.
I used to be one of those people. But even a lot of the "simpler" stuff is way beyond my skill range. I still class rap as music, but with more emphasis on it being a more complex form of poetry. Adding music, interesting rhythms, and the fact that you hear some of them say the words so fast but still be coherent is a skill and a talent worthy of respect. And that's before you look into the lyrical content of some of the greats. It's still not something I would choose to listen to the majority of the time, but that's personal taste rather than me saying "rap is spelt with a silent C"
10. What the bloody hell is that thing?:
11. I always get compliments on my tone and I only play Peaveys... Currently through a Harley Benton amp (ok, and a Markbass cab ) You'll benefit from fresh strings, and if the sound is a bit dull at that point I'd recommend trying new pickups, but you can definitely get world class tones without breaking the bank !
12. Yep! I'm glad I decided to post the topic on here originally, the advice and comments I've had have been invaluable. It would have taken me longer to come to the right decision which would definitely have meant a worse outcome!
13. Well the guitar players are showing their true colours now! It's been made clear that they've never seen me as a real friend and don't have any respect for me by what they've just said to me. I'm almost glad I've dropped them in it!
14.
FWIW. My thoughts are -
This is exactly what I thought, and I'm so glad that a bunch of you guys on here have seen it too, despite only having the information I've given! I definitely feel like I've made the right decision
15. Well I've told them... Kept it brief... They have got somebody waiting in the wings to fill in anyway, but they want to borrow my rig for three months. NOPE!
16.
Somehow I don't think the singer is your friend.
His only priority is the band. He doesn't have anything else in his life really. I'd be surprised if he didn't break up with his girlfriend if he finds out she's caused my early departure!
17. Ugh, the next gig is on Friday so I will definitely be dropping them in it.. but I genuinely don't want to go. The only saving grace is that since I no longer live or work in Stoke I won't really have to deal with anybody after its done. Wish me luck breaking the news!!
18.
walk away.
Bloody hell. I know you shoot straight from the hip but that did come as a shock! I've been talking about this at home for the entire day which is what prompted me to post it on here. I want to honour the gigs because I enjoy playing, and I stick to my word, but I can't condone this behaviour. Aside from the events of today, The two girls that follow the band around always create hostility towards any other women who try to dance or enjoy themselves and will eventually destroy the reputation of the band... Which I'm sure this thread will eventually do! I know I'm just venting, so I apologise. But cheers! Any further advice on what to do now would be very helpful
19. And it has stepped up a notch! The singer's bit of skirt has sent my girlfriend an incredible amount of abuse over the internet (stuff I can't even repeat), so she feels like she can't even attend my last 7 gigs with the band in case a fight breaks out. Well this is going to make the rest of the year pretty f***ing awkward. Its at the point now where I am considering going back on my promise to see out the next three months...
20. These are amazing for the money, if you don't have a compressor already you need this!
21. Been made redundant this week so I'm willing to let this go for £300 .. If you want this AND the Peavey BAM I've got for sale I'll sell the lot for just £500!
22. Been made redundant this week so I'm willing to let this go for £300
23.
Clever to use pickups of the same surname
Yep, great pickups too! Shame about the bass... Looks like a child made it out of Lego.
24. Seen a few of these on eBay now. I wonder if it actually increases the chances of a sale? I mean it probably gets more people to see it, but it makes me think that the bass might not be as great as they say it is if they're resorting to cheesy sales tactics!
