I think Warwick still do Dark Lord strings with a bottom string that's either .170 or .175... Alternatively contact Newtone Strings and ask for a custom wound set.

New Markbass cabs from the East? Anybody got them?
chrismuzz replied to karlfer's topic in Amps and Cabs
You might as well scour the classifieds or eBay and get a good used Italian one. Not because of the country of manufacture, just based on price -
Hardly any shops have them in the UK at this time.
The only place I've seen one in the last couple of years was PMT in Manchester, it was also one of the blue ones. Gorgeous in every way!! Give them a call?

They could have come up with a better model name for it....

Ahh! Just realised the reason it didn't work is that my office blocks file hosting websites Looks like a TVX cab to me anyways!! From memory... The TVX sound great but are a little mid scooped. The Laney cabs I really like. More punchy in the mids! How much are you looking to spend?

The pictures aren't showing up, which model is the Peavey cab? Is it one of the TVX series?

Cheapo crappy strings - anyone found some good one's??????
yes but....it's that fresh new sound, sure the expensive one last longer, but with a sweaty git like me they get dull within 48 hours anyway.
This is why I love Elixirs so much! -
Girlfriend sounds cool. All she has to do now, is buy you a les Paul bass. ( oops ! Wrong thread(
Haha brilliant

I appreciate all the comments I've had on here so far I think the main thing is that it takes up so much of my time, and I seem to enjoy each gig less and less, and I simply miss playing something that's mine. The weirdness between them and my girlfriend certainly adds to it. I've always got on with the guys in the band and I don't understand what they have against her, especially considering she's done more for us than any of the other girlfriends/girl friends of the band! I personally think jealousy is a big factor... Money is always nice, but my job pays me well enough, and I'd rather have a life than a stack of cash that I can't use The suggestions have all been pretty similar here.. My lady has suggested I see it out until my next biggun at The Sugarmill, then make my decision, and if I'm still thinking of leaving I'll give notice from there. I'm sure people will be falling over themselves to join the band anyway since they're some of the most skilled players I've ever worked with!
wow..it's Father Chrismuzz - thanks for that!
Never heard THAT one before I usually buy Elixir strings. They're expensive (about £40 a set) but a pack of strings usually lasts me about 2 months, the last set I had on lasted a year before I snapped one... If I wasn't so clumsy I'm sure they'd have lasted me longer! -

Stringbusters are currently doing Buy One Get One Free on Dunlop Super Bright strings (nickel or steel). They're like £16 a set so that works out at around £8 each which is a total bargain! -
I could never be in a band with my wife.....the band split would be very acrimonious. Just saying but there is a point to my statement
I'm only a bass player, I'm sure if the relationship went tits up she could replace me
-
I have a bass tuned to C# and I'm currently using DR DDT strings. They're really quite ingenious and sound POWERFUL! Apparently they can "stretch" more so that the tension is more consistent even when you down tune. I like them
Sounds like jealousy to me. Get it together and form a band with your GF, she sounds like she's always up for it. Performing, I mean. Er, in a band, I mean. You know what I mean!
Behave yourself But yeah I suggested it was jealousy. The other guys think we're something amazing, whereas I've always been humble about being "just" a cover band.
If the situation with your girlfriends band and the fact that the guys in your band aren`t giving her any support didn`t exist Chris, would you still feel like giving notice on the band?
It certainly adds to it, but I've been kind of losing interest for the last few months.
Got to say though, the obscure album tracks bit would make me want to go - the whole point of a covers band to me is playing really familiar songs to people.
Exactly!
Personally not sure why you wouldn't have already have wanted to be in an originals band (or even a cover band) with your girlfriend if you had the option and that she is good.
She'd never sung in a band before she joined her current one. We have been talking about it for a couple of months, and we've got two guitar players interested I'm liking how many of you are telling me to start a band with her

So I've been playing bass for my metal cover band for almost 2 years now. It's been a lot of fun, we get on some really awesome gigs to a mostly appreciative audience doing stuff most cover bands would never do... And as an added bonus I get a bit of pocket money at the end of the night (usually £50 each). Problem is, I'm getting bored! And a lot of the recent song choices haven't been fantastic. It's all stuff that would alienate the type of people that would go to see a metal covers band (obscure album tracks rather than the "hits") My girlfriend has been supporting us like crazy since I first met her. She comes to 90% of our gigs, and is always the first one getting up to dance, even encouraging the locals to have a good time. She started singing for an originals band since January, and even from the audience I can tell it's a completely different atmosphere. You get actual music fans for a start! And for some really strange reason, none of the guys in the band or their girlfriends have ever supported her. She's played about 10 gigs so far and they haven't attended one, and (I know this will sound lame), they haven't even "Liked" a single band photo of hers on Facebook, and my vocalist hasn't even "Liked" her band page... To top it off we've got another headline show at The Sugarmill in Stoke next month. I put her band forward as a support to the other guys (because they're fantastic live), and got completely ignored... And instead the singer's girlfriend's cover band is opening (They really really suck!!), and an unknown band from Stafford who won't sell any tickets are main support. Obviously this has all put a sour taste in my mouth. I don't know if it's just "coincidence", if they don't like her, or if they just have a bad attitude about her band? To top it off, the fact that I gig almost every weekend, and work a lot of weekends too. I don't get a lot of quality time to spend with my lady and it does upset her sometimes. Anyway, I'm bloody awful at writing things in a structured way, so if you managed to read all of this without getting brain ache I appreciate that Basically what I'm considering doing is "giving notice" to my current band, honouring all gigs til they find a suitable replacement and doing some originals with some local guys (me and the girlfriend have been talking about doing a band together so that we both get the best of both worlds!) Thoughts?
Please read the following important information carefully: I am an honest and ethical seller. I don't offer any items that I would not be happy to receive myself. By far the vast majority of my sales result in smooth transactions with highly satisfied buyers. The following terms and conditions are stated as insurance against the tiny minority of buyers who seek to abuse the eBay system. The price quoted for postage is correct. It is expensive because I will only use selected specialist couriers. Apologies, but I won't consent to using your own courier or shipping via Royal Mail, so please don't request this. However, you may collect yourself in person at a mutually convenient date/time, and pay 'cash on collection', which means pound notes and/or coins. In line with eBay/PayPal advice and guidance I do NOT accept PayPal if collecting in person, as there is no Protection for either Buyer or Seller in that event. If collecting in person then the price you pay is your winning bid, nothing more. If you would prefer to pay by PayPal then you will be liable to pay the shipping charge for this item, even if you live locally to me. Under eBay rules I cannot qualify for Seller Protection when a buyer pays via PayPal unless I deliver the item using a trackable/signed-for service. I will refund any PayPal payment made in error, and cancel any transaction where a bidder cannot meet the requirements above. Please pay and collect STRICTLY as described - otherwise eBay will automatically open an Unpaid Item case on my behalf. I will not hold items for any reason or any bidder, unless specific agreement is reached BEFORE auction end. I will report any Buyer attempting to breach my conditions of sale, and if necessary open a case against them to enforce Seller Protection. I am not a shop/business seller, so strictly no returns/refunds... however, you're more than welcome to ask questions, or make arrangements to view or inspect this item before you bid. If you are unhappy with my no refund policy, then please purchase from an alternative seller... thank you. The starting bid is the minimum price which I am willing to accept for this item. Please do not send messages offering to buy for less, or trade outside of eBay. This is against the rules and you will be permanently blocked from bidding on any of my listings as a result. My terms and conditions may be used to support any claim I make for eBay Seller Protection. In placing your bid you are acknowledging that you agree with everything written above. Thank you and Happy Bidding!!
........................... So basically "cash on collection"
