1. I forgot about Yamaha! They don't work for me but they're very well made and in the right hands they sound beautiful
2. As above really Also keep a good look out for second hand Ibanez basses! And actually, the Harley Benton offerings are surprisingly good for the money (around £200 IIRC)
3. I have currently got the Harley Benton version of the head (exactly the same thing, just with a silver front) and it performs beautifully! As has been said in countless other threads, it's an Ibanez Promethean with a slightly different preamp and a very different price!
4.
the way these things usually go....
To be fair, it is a ridiculous looking thing! Though it could be argued it's all a bass player really needs
5. Fair point gadgie, I'm sure that guy won't be giving Peter Frampton another penny of his money. Luckily he's in the position not to give a toss
6. Taking pictures or short videos is cool in my books, but if you're there for the majority of the show hindering everyone else's enjoyment of the show it's selfish and quite pointless really. You may as well save everyone else the hassle and watch videos on YouTube to begin with!
7.
I have it flightcased!
And I'll bet it still weighs less than any "standard" 4x10!
8. I'm hardly the seasoned live veteran he is, but my take on it is that the odd photo or two is incredibly flattering... an entire evening of phone screens would drive me mad though!
9. Hahaha! Brilliant! To be fair there was a very strict policy and even PF himself asked the guy to stop but to no avail. Not surprised he launched his phone!
10.
available soon.
This is fantastic news! I've got a 6 stringer that needs some humbuckers with bollocks!
11. Had my first Sound Limiter gig last weekend. Never again! It was an outdoor gig so to be loud enough for anyone 10 feet away to enjoy it It cut out.. Which meant it did so in every single song for the first half an hour! We ended up refusing to play unless they bypassed it but by that time we were all in foul moods and the audience lost interest. Only saving grace was that we still got paid but I'd rather we cancelled weeks ago when I heard they'd had a Limiter installed.
12.
Not seen any mention of "head room".( as in the extra created when an additional speaker/speakers is added).....
+1 If you have two cabs side by side, you've got room for another head!
13. I used to smoke "funny fags", and my improvisation and overall playing was at a much higher standard than it is now... So I think there is a lot of truth to this
14. Black ones here, £5 for 20! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-x-new-BLACK-Washers-for-Swing-Top-Grolsch-Bottle-homebrew-washers-/281406233105?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Food_SM&hash=item41851e5a11#ht_308wt_1186
15. Do the US not have Distance Selling Regulations (or whatever it was changed to a few weeks ago)? It should be 14 days from the day after the goods are delivered, no questions asked, for a full refund.. and as I understand it they haven't even been delivered yet!
16. It sounds like you want the Jack Cassidy the most, and if you don't get one you'll end up wishing you had!
17. It looks like a guitar, which is probably why the majority of BC think it sucks
18. What's wrong with having six Peaveys?? Totally agree though, these Vietnamese Grinds are incredible. Much better than the Chinese ones they're knocking out now!
19. Headstock shape is very Harley Benton. They are great instruments after a quick setup though, and look better with a blank headstock
20. I played the second half of my gig the other night using a pick. And even though I was a bit sloppy, it sounded incredible through my overdrive pedals. So tight and the attack was so aggressive. Loved it!
21. Personally I'd never pay more than £30 for a set up since a professional can do it in no time at all. And when Andy Viccars worked his magic on my basses that's all it cost and he even threw in a neck shim, bridge realignment, and a cheeky fret dress. Made a budget Shine SB26 play better than anything I've ever had my hands on!
22. Something to do with "moving more air", there are plenty of people on here who know the science behind it! Bigger rigs certainly LOOK louder
23. It's doable, but the time/expense will be much higher than the value of the guitar!
24.
The first time I went to lift a Markbass 4x10 I nearly threw it in the air, it's so light. I was used to lugging around an Ashdown ABM 4x10 at the time, so you can maybe understand my overcompensation
After I sold my Markbass 104HF I got a Peavey Pro 410, pretty much exactly the same size/shape/look etc... Tried to pick it up and my spine nearly folded in half Great cab but it just didn't have the same upper midrange clarity, and the 1" compression driver is the best and most musical sounding tweeter I've ever heard. Hence me going back to Markbass after such a short time
