1. Drummers are hard to find! Train him up I say, you never know when he will come in handy
2. My first gigging band was an indie/funk/rock type thing called Kingskin. The first song we actually played live was one of our own called "Braindead". Sounded like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers would if they stopped caring We also did a couple of covers that night... Where Did You Sleep Last Night (can't remember the original artist's name, we did a variation on the Nirvana version), and I blagged my way through Knocking On Heaven's Door when the singer decided to spring it upon us while we were about to leave the stage
3. I reckon I'd find it near impossible to play Lamb Of God's Redneck without being in a drop tuning. I don't really like playing in non standard tunings at all but in a cover band it's a necessary evil! Saying that, all the Drop B stuff we play, I just use a 5 or 6 string in standard tuning. No dodgy stretching necessary, but then it is kids stuff like Slipknot mostly
4. From memory they are the same dimensions as the older Peavey Grind series... I replaced the pickups in my 6 string with a SSB-5 set so it's likely they'll be the same
5. I prefer neo cabs and not just due to the weight, they always seem to be louder, and much more present in the mids. I scoop the upper mids a bit but not as much than any 'normal' cab would, and you get a closer sound to what you'd get through the PA
6. Can you play metal? I have a gig booked in Nottingham that I can't do but the band still want to do it. Not sure on pay, probably like £30 each...
7. I still find graphite necks unusual, never seen a bass in a shop with one, and headless basses always look weird to me! Don't think I could ever own one
8. f*** me. Now I know where that grin in your photo comes from!
9. In my cover band everyone gets an equal split, on the night. If i was in an original band I would have like a band bank account where any takings (if any) could be put towards merch, recording etc
10. That looks wicked with no paint, I'd be tempted to keep it that way!!
11. Would you consider splitting? I'm only really interested in a head... And is the R500 capable of super cleans like the LM series?
12.
Put Fedora on the headstock, no one will want it then.
If I ever gig near Faversham I'll make sure to spray mine in sunburst
13. I'm a member of a brilliant facebook group called "sh*te metal t shirt top trumps", and this glorious shirt belongs on it
14.
Really? OK then, she bangs. Like a shlthouse door in the wind.
You're not selling these cabs to me with comparisons like that.
15.
Let us know what you think of the Ashdown :-)
16.
It really is a wonderful feeling to play outdoors in the sunshine, nothing quite like it.
Unless the sun is directly in your eyes and you are too self conscious to wear sunglasses in case you look like a wannabe superstar Bonus points if its windy and you're spending more time moving your hair out of your face than actually playing!
17. Pearl Jam have some really fun bass lines, Rage Against The Machine too though they're a lot less challenging!
18.
i think the heads sound good, i really didnt rate the cabs though
This is my opinion on Behringer too. Aside from the speakers which are totally dire, all of their stuff is pretty good sounding!
19.
Er... that's good, right?
I meant my main bass with quarter pounders sounded crap in comparison
20. They're great! My main bass has a SD quarter pounder in it which *was* my best sounding bass... Since putting the neo entwistles in one of my backups, I used it at a gig on Saturday and to my ears it now sounds like sh*t!
21. Interesting how the strings haven't been put in the nut grooves properly.
22. Chances are sound wise you will be completely covered with PA/monitors, so the only reason you'd need an amp will be for the visual aspect, and if you're particular about what you hear onstage. If that's the case, you'd be best off with at least a 2x12 or a 4x10 and a 300w head.
23. Do both and the rest of the band will think you're awesome. YMMV...
24. As above, can't force him to sell but I'd be leaving feedback for sure! I'd have told him it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it
25. I've used a 500w class d amp for home practice loads of times and its been great! You may have to change the settings for it to sound the same but other than that go for it
