Haha nice! I was tempted by this as well, but as I was buying a car at the same time I thought I'd better behave myself! There's a nice looking Fury at the moment though....
Out of interest, if you want to use one cab with the ability to add another cab later do you go for a 4 or 8 ohm cab ?
8 ohms mate, two together makes 4 ohms. I use a single 8 ohm cab in case I wAnted to expAnd lAter but I totally don't need to!

Various basses, dearmond, chowny, bitsa

I always bring a spare bass, and one extra of every type of cable I have in case one gets lost or broken. I also bring a spare Markbass head as it's small enough to fit in my bag of leads and tools, but as long as you have a DI you'll be fine if your amp fails

Suggestions for aggressive sounding nickel strings
chrismuzz replied to markdavid's topic in Accessories and Misc
Dunlop Super Bright nickels, or standard D'Addario nickels are the brightest I know of.
I'd have suggested exactly the same strings Also, stainless steel Elixirs, the coating makes them silky smooth and you won't lose all your top end after a few weeks! -
I always use my amp input. That way I can, for example, roll back the low end for certain rooms without having to touch my pedal settings.
-
Mate, it's better to be excessively careful than to go in blind! But yeah the advice you've had so far I would follow. I only change string gauges if they feel too tight or loose to play in whichever tuning I use
-
I use a sealed Markbass 4x10 and it is WELL punchy. A lot louder than any "normal" 8x10 I've tried as well.
Same here Chris. The famed mid-scoop - well I also scoop the mids on my amp as well in conjunction with the Bass Driver, yet I can still be heard fine.
Sound check Friday night, the sound engineer said to me "I didn't have to touch your bass tone on my desk, it's perfect!"
-
Sansamp Bass Driver! I love mine, but it gets a lot of stick for being a "generic rock sound" and that mid scoop.
-
I try to negotiate and say that everyone will be watching the lead guitarist anyway so he might as well stand on the far end, then I can turn my amp up so loud that he can't hear himself when he stands in front of it
-
I don't play with a pick because I haven't practiced doing so in years so I'm really bad at it... but I love the sound it makes, you can't match it with your fingers. Palm muting is at least a hundred times easier too!

Quit a covers band because I wanted to have time to focus on originals, and there was drama during the three month notice period I gave so I told them I was quitting with immediate effect. Quit another band because they gave me a load of grief for joining a rival band. I wanted to leave anyway because one member was a real... member! And I didn't want it to tarnish my reputation.

You can pick up a used Markbass LM head and the insanely heavy Peavey 410tvx cab for under £400 if you're lucky!
Do yourself a favour and get one. Before I buy them all :lol
I just showed the missus that picture and told her my Peavey obsession isn't nearly as bad as it could be. She agrees... Wonder if she will mind me adding to my collection now
Someone local selling a Foundation, and has been for a while. He's trying to get £140 and had no takers. This is a US built bass.
Take it! They're awesome

I never get tired of seeing that one! ^^^

I once turned these filters up really high, sounded like I was playing through an Ampeg cab

I tend to break an E string on average once a year
Not my view, i've used a few Elixir coated sets in the past and the sound just wasn't there for me... too artificial is the best way i can describe it, too harsh in the highs and lows but not very harmonic sounding. Replaced it for EXL until The ProSteels were released and now i'm trying my first FlexSteel sets, The Pro and Flex last at least as much as Elixir, cost about a third of the price and the tone is much richer, IMO they are miles appart from each other.
That's interesting! I quite like that artificial sort of tone, but then that goes with the style of music I tend to play and listen to. The way I play the two types of string sound really close! But then I do scoop the mids a bit as well
-
Can't wait til they start appearing on the high street, I'd love to try one of the MiniMegas out!
-
The only reason I don't use D'Addario Prosteels is that I use Elixir strings! I know there's a rumour that they're D'Addarios in a condom and the sound is so close there may be some truth to it.

Mine is still last in line on my pedalboard, and I can't see that changing any time soon. I do not use the overdrives on it as I still prefer "real" pedals, but I believe I am the only person who would notice a difference in my sound. I do however use it for fuzz occasionally and have no complaints whatsoever. Compressors, amp models, and modulation effects are where this thing really shines, along with the wide variety of delays and reverbs. The variety of different ones on offer mean that there should be something there to please most players. The noise gate isn't bad either, but does noticeably affect the tone. Tuner is great, I no longer use a Korg Pitchblack! Tone suck when using no effects is KIND of there. Not very noticeable, but I actually like what it does to my sound. Almost makes it sound a little cleaner, like a really subtle compression. Main thing I love about this pedal though, is that if I ever want to do some recording, all I need to do is connect it to a computer via USB. All my other effect pedals are already connected to it so I can turn up anywhere with a bass and my board and be good to go. Another huge plus is the good quality DI output. If I ever have an amp fail on me, I can use an amp model on the B3 and go straight into the desk without sacrificing my tone. Total bargain!

Two come to mind. Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5 string Stingray 5 Love the sound of these things and they're clearly extremely well made instruments, but I just couldn't get a good sound out of them, and they felt all wrong! EDIT: oh, and anything by Yamaha, particularly the RBX series and the Attitude. They feel like plastic toys to me!
