1.
Ugly looking clanky things!
That's exactly why I DO like them
2. Always wanted one, will never buy one. No reason other than stupid ones like "can't justify the expense", and "I'm a Peavey fanatic and refuse to buy any basses/guitars that aren't one" Quality control might be lacking, but when you play a good one, you'll know!
3. I love P pickups but always have to mix it up with something at the bridge. Never liked my playing through a P alone unless there's a lot of processing and even then it only sounds satisfying to me when solo'd. I feel I get the best of both with my two PJ basses (Peavey Zodiac, like in my avatar ). Although the old Fender P Deluxe with the dual coil in the bridge is truly a force to be reckoned with!
4.
Great track. Not sure how anyone could hope to improve that mix either - except for maybe a little bump to Ellefson's track to make it rock even harder in the mix.
Pretty much every heavy metal album ever released could do with a bit more bass... Iron Maiden are one of the only bands that don't suffer from this, and that's only because Steve Harris is the man in charge!
5. To be honest, as much as the internet can be a good place to find a band, when I think about it I have never actually joined a band from it. It's always been through friends or at least friends of friends. However, I went to my first jam night a couple of months ago and I was offered a spot playing in a band that very evening... Even if you're not, they are great fun and you might find yourself playing stuff you'd never have tried on your own. It's good to get thrown out of your comfort zone once in a while! I say try every option available and be open minded, because you never know what might come along!
6. Yep, an absolutely brilliant idea, and I couldn't be more proud to have been a part of it Well done to Jim and all involved! This is gonna take some beating!!
7. I don't listen to a lot of Megadeth but this is actually one of my all time favourite metal albums!
8. The headstock is a bit ropey, but overall its a really nice looking bass! Not one for my budget though
9. If its a new one that's a good price! I'd look for a used one though
10. Nice one man! I already have both my PJ basses loaded with these amazing pickups but I'm strangely excited that more people will be able to get hold of some!
11. I always set my LMT800 line out around 11 o clock and never had any complaints about signal level
12.
Having watched the demo video the guy said it has Speakons because if you used jacks they could get blown out by the power! I've never experienced that with any setup, sounds a bit far-fetched to me?
Hahaha!! I wonder where he got that from?? I did once use an 8x10 cabinet in a rehearsal studio that has such a knackered jack input that the vibrations made it come loose, but that's totally different
13.
Cor that looks interesting. According to the specs this would fit in a Markbass combo.
I wonder if that was a conscious decision, seeing as how pretty much every rock player who uses markbass uses a Tech 21 product in front of it!
14. I've never seen one of these before... Bloody lovely!
15. If you love your sound and want more of the same, get a matching cab!
16.
That's good... Can you compare the basic tone with anything? Is it a 'rock' tone for example? Does it resemble the Ampeg amp it's a clone of?
I bore witness to the rehearsal the amp was used in, and was really surprised actually! Fairly similar to the Ampeg SVT450H, but it seemed somehow clearer. Definitely the best amp I've ever heard for £100!
17. They glow amazingly, look REALLY cool! However I found the tone goes really bad after 2-3 gigs. For a one off though, highly recommeded
18. Little Mark 500w heads are awesome and can be had relatively cheaply (sub £300) if youre lucky!
19. I don't know the difference between the two, but I'd strongly recommend trying a cab out before you buy it. Ampeg cabs are VERY different and you might find they choke your sound too much in comparison to what you're used to!
20.
2nd Gen 2x12 with a HF driver.
Super 12 T? That's the only barefaced cab I've ever used and it was bowel looseningly good!
21. I've been running various amps into an 8 ohm markbass 410 for years and never been lacking in power. Used to use . 500w F1 head which meant I was getting about 300w and it was only ever turned up past halfway a handful of times... Now I'm using a 400w valve amp which can be switched to run at 8 ohms and Ive never turned it up past about 1.5 (out of 10!)
22. That looks terrifying, how are you going to get it to venues? Some 4x10s won't even go through doorways without a little (lot) of gentle persuasion (brute force)!
23.
I play a 5 string mainly..So I can tune down to b flat and still make a bass sound rather than a blap?
Depends on the strings and the bass... I tuned one of my 6 strings down to G (purely for a laugh) and it still had plenty of attack! That was with a stainless steel .130 gauge
24. Usually drop tunings but you can get away with standard... Drop tunings do my head in Overdriven tones and a heavy picking technique are what I would personally go for, I like that clanky metallic sound though so it depends what you're into! I get it by using fingers aggressively, low action, lots of compression, sansamp, Darkglass, and a noise gate!
25.
Are you sure that it's the wood that is making the difference. Have you tried swapping the pickups between the two instruments? That's the only way to be sure.
Oh bloody hell It's a good point but we all know how notorious Peavey are for changing product specs!
