1. Thanks for the comments guys. It's truly a beautiful piece of work. Bump!
2. Friday bump to share some fetching pics of this bass in action!!!
3.
5 string trades only? Or 4 string + cash? Pete
Sorry, 5 string only! The reason being, I have another awesome 4 string and it would need to be something truly special to better that one or this Ibanez!
4. Thanks Jellyfish. This is one awesome bass!!!
5. Price dropped to [s]£1200[/s] [s]£1100[/s] £1000! ON HOLD NOW SOLD! Hello Basschatters. Ibanez SR5000E Prestige 4 string bass. Not much to say about this bass really part from if you haven't held one of Ibanez's fine Prestige basses, you don't know what you're missing! This one's the top of the Ibanez SR range. This one is about 2 years old and in excellent condition. It's seen a few gigs but not so many recently after I got my Shuker. The only real issues, if you can call them that, is a few minor dings on the headstock, some scrapes on one of the pickups from the E string, and some thumb wear above that pickup which can easily be stained to fix it. The photos should show the bass in all its glory. The serial number dates this bass to having been made in June 2010, at the Fujigen factory in Japan. Fantastic bass, made in Japan, slim neck which is titanium reinforced, curved Bartolini pickups, wenge top & back to sandwich a mahogany body, great active preamp to get a massive range of tones and also a passive switch ... none of this matters when you pick it up and just feel how wonderfully made it is and what a quality bass. Here's some specs from the Ibanez page - it is still the flagship SR bass. http://www.ibanez.co...2&series_id=112 Comes with original supplied hard case. Cash sale only please, I was looking for a 5 but I'm sorted now! Collection from Bristol, meet within a reasonable distance or I can courier it.
6. There is Shuker love! I have a Shuker jazz and it's the only bass I play these days as it's so awesome. I love the colour of this one and would have it in an instant but for one small problem... well 750 problems actually! Great bass and good luck with the sale, a real shame you have to sell it!
7. I have a bass of massive orangeness, which is my lovely Shuker that was sold on BC by some madman - I will never give it up! As for the bending over - I used a crap mike stand that decided to slide slowly southwards mid-song!
8.
i might be buying a MidgetT at that point (but would probably need a more poweful head to drive it)
Beware! What you'll need is a head that goes below 4 ohm, as the S12T is a 4 ohm cab, so adding a Midget will lower the total impedance to 2.66 ohms - less than nearly all heads can handle. There are a few heads that can go to 2 ohms, or others (like mine) that have two channels that can drive 4 ohms separately (Shuttlemax 12.2). I drive S12T on one side, and a Compact on the other. Epic!
9. Another gore-pop possibility: Justin Bleeder Now I'm sure a lot of people would love to see that!
10.
A Shed Seven tribute called Seven Shades of Shed?
Nah, that would be called Seven Sheds of Grey?
11.
Probably not as niche as a Gore-pop crossover from... Cannibal Corrs.
Gore-pop... A sadly under-represented genre! I was thinking of a Green Day covers band called 50 Shades of Green...
12. Just spotted it on C4+1. Looks like a Compact, with silver cloth!
13. Hey, they are my old strings! (And bass!) Great strings, but 5 string was not for me! Hence I didn't use them much. Also, a great guy to deal with!
14. I had the predecessor, AH500-12 and then the AH1000-12 for a while. Great amps, Trace stuff doesn't get the attention it used to which is a shame as these amps are really underrated. Didn't use the tube, but the EQ is great and the compressor is excellent, dual band too. Plus it is very loud! Used one through a BF Super12 like S9... said above. Reliability is an issue, as the 500 failed because of some design issue which I had repaired independently, and a socket failed on the 1000, that had been repaired for the same issue as the 500 before I got it. But the warranty is good (3 years, or is it 5?).
15. Yes that's two separate speaker outputs. Use one speakon lead and one jack lead for the two cabs... though make sure you use a jack speaker lead and not an instrument lead, or you will probably fry something!
16.
All very true! however I'm still waiting for the "technical" reason why daisy-chain is so often prefered.... as I can't remember (Doh...its an age thing???) N/B Warwickhunt has a point; post soundcheck when a stage is shifted around and some "Oaf" shifts your rig.......it happened to me! GazzBass
I think the opposite is true, and separate leads are preferred. This is because of the failing issue, as said above, also so that one cable (from the head) does not need to handle the power for two cabs, though if thee leads are good it's doubtful that it makes any difference really.
17.
The amp is 2.67 min so 3 8 ohm cabs from any manufacturer will be fine. I ran 3 Bergantino cabs with mine and it sounded pretty damn good.
This! I ran a 4 ohm and an 8 ohm barefaced can from a RH450. No problems! This head can go down to 2.66 ohms with any cabs it would seem. TC even released info to confirm that.
18.
If I ever need to boost mids, apart from using the amp for more specific frequencies, with a 2 band pre on the bass its a simple matter of cutting the treble and bass a bit. So many people I know only ever seem to boost EQ on their active basses for some reason. As a sound engineer I have learned to use EQ to get rid of the frequencies I don't want rather than boost the ones I do.
This ... I cut bass a bit on the amp and turn the volume up sometimes to get a better rounded middy sound.
19.
The 3.0 is all FET and sounds really good, very tight and clean but only 300 watts, the max heads have a FET channel and a valve channel running into separate power amps 600 or 900 watts, so basically you can run 900 watts into a 4 ohm load off one channel and 900 off the other, 4 4x10's off a head the size of a shoe box!
I think the Max 9.0 and 9.2 only have one power amp, so you can have either channel or blend into the one power amp, which then drives a 4 ohm load or two 8 ohms. Can't have two 4 ohm loads I'm afraid. The Max 12.2 OTOH has two power amps so can drive two 4 ohm loads or 4 8 ohms, or a mix, but you can't have separate channels into separate power amps - the same sig is sent to both power amps, i.e. FET, tube or blend.
20.
Im loving that! What do you think of the FET channel on its own? I have a 3.0 and a 6.0 and I think I prefer the sound of the FET only 3.0 over the valve 6.0, I would have a 600watt FET if they did one but what you have (or the older 12 max) would basically give me just that. Hhmmm....
They definitely have their own sound. I like both of them to be honest. The tube channel is nice and warm but the FET channel is clean, so wonderfully clean, and seems a bit more pronounced in the upper mids. The amp itself is largeish, bigger than my old RH450 but certainly much smaller than the Trace head I got rid of ages ago (mostly due to its size and weight!) The Genz is very light. Looking through the fan vents, there seems to be a lot of room in there, so I guess it could have been smaller, though that would make fitting all the controls on the front a bit of a squeeze. There is constant fan noise, about the same as an idling Xbox, so noticeable in the quiet if you're up close but totally absent even at fairly quiet practise volumes. So far, I'm loving this head!
21. Tab is great. So what if you can read music and don't need tab... a lot of us can't read music. Even if we can, tab is just easier to interpret, IMO anyway. It's just another way to represent music, so saying it is rubbish or should be got rid of just doesn't make sense, why not get rid of musical score instead*? *of course, tab doesn't show note lengths. This is because it isn't needed as tab is almost always next to musical score. But that is a minor point, easily remedied as an "improved" tab. Down with musical score! etc.
22.
Allow me to be the first of many to recommend Obbm's cables to you He is a member on here and his cables are fantastic and great value too! Edit for link to his site: http://bassic-bits.co.uk/
+1 Can make to any spec too, as far as I can tell
23. I set the gain stages to sensible levels, about 50%, then knocked up the master volume up to about 1/3 for a laff... shook the windows! And that's only 1/3! It's not about volume though, it's about headroom in the right places. My last amp didn't have enough oomph for HUGE LOWS so I'm guessing this one does
