1. Boom! Proper, sound sweet with a big ol'valve head driving it. I'd need a roadie to shove that around for me now though. My hernia repairs started aching by just looking at it! GLWTS.
2. Reef lads are originally from same bit of Somerset as me. Jack Bessant still lives locally. Check out Kenwyn's new band Goldray, good stuff too! Used to see & chat with him quite often as our nippers went to same school.
3.
I used to watch all the touring bands there when I was a teenager. Iron Maiden with Paul Dianno, Trust. Diamond Head, April Wine.. I can't remember many of them it was so long ago but I always loved the venue.
me too! My nearest big venue as a teen. UFO, motorhead, rush, msg, ac/dc with bon etc. We must have been at a lot of the same gigs!
4. YOB for me too. Shame I can't afford it! Ever! GLWTS
5. Good on yer, missed reading your posts & input to bc. All the best to you.
6.
Oh myyyyyyyy.... Had a B-20 8 string in about 84 (yep, that odd dark red, brass ring fret markers and a flame top), which had a very odd triangular neck profile, string break angles so sharp they'd snap a string when fitting if you weren't very careful, and the most vicious neck dive of anything I've ever experienced, but I'm still sorry I sold it. And yellow's my favourite colour...
How could I have forgotten the neck dive! "Vicious" is a very apt description, almost needed shinpads!
7. I had a blue one with white binding! Yep, you guessed it, back in the 80's in my NWOBHM wanna be days! Must post a photo if i can dredge one up :-)
8.
That hit's the spot for me Norm in terms of general sound. Lots of energy and an interesting mix of old and new styles. It makes me want to see you play live! I can't really comment on the production as I was listening though my PC
Thanks for listening! Interesting, we have a lot of influences that seem to poke through. Main writer Paul is also a dj, he runs a soul night, so there is deffo a danceability. Northern soul, old funk, 60's garage psyche, dub reggae, drum & bass through to post punk & rock stuff. Hopefully get some gigs going on soon although we are finding it difficult at the moment, lots of asking but not a lot of getting! Our sonic engineer is a mate who has worked with pj harvey, biffy clyro, pineapple thief before, knows his stuff! Cheers, Norm.
9. My band Kohiba have just completed a new ep & I've just uploaded them to soundcloud. Any listens, likes, shares, comments & feedback will be very appreciated! https://soundcloud.com/kohiba Cheers, Norm

Bristol Bash

Yep, I'd be up for a Bristol bash too.
12. Gaps for me are:- Pink Floyd. I just them find unremittingly dull. Bruce Springsteen, I just don't get him at all. Not for me, thats all, nothing more. Not a hater. Open to pretty near everything else though. Currently listening to doom & latin soul boogaloo but not at same time! ;-) Enjoyed the Congolese psyche funk that somebody here posted the other day.
13.
Sound & Vision Love that Eno bassline..
+1 to that! So many great songs, I Iove "Fame" & "Young Americans" too.
14.
What a great way to get rid of the guests. Must remember that one...
crank it up jump on all yer pedals at once, play them all in a death metal style, works a treat!
15. I would probably be terrible at a lyrics quiz as its the music I seem to focus on not the words. So not really as surprised now as I was straight after the bassline quiz. In reply to the OP I'd go with Billy Jean as MJ's appeal was truly global for a while.
16. As part of our Christmas celebrations, we have a quiz/games day. We were hosting the extended family this year & I did a Bassline quiz, point each for artist & song title. Plugged in my bass & played 20 or so memorable bass lines. Some were intros, others riffs or passages of what I thought were very memorable lines, was amazed at how difficult the guests found it! Only a couple of them got them right. List below as best remembered. The Chain - F. Mac Shakin all over - JK & the pirates Another one bites the dust - Queen Money - Pink Floyd Walking on the moon - Police Black Knight - Deep Purple Down in the tube station - the Jam Rat Trap - Boomtown Rats Le Freak - Chic London calling - the Clash Love cats - the cure Good times - Chic Eton rifles - the Jam Walk on the wild side - Lou Reed Uptown funk - Mark Ronson ft Bruno Mars Bohemian Rapsody - Queen (waynes world bit!) Hey Joe - Jimi Hendrix (ascending riff bit) 7 nation army - White Stripes Papa was a rollin' stone - the Temptations PiL - PiL Peaches - Stranglers etc etc I thought they were too easy but it was only my missus & the musos who got 'em, the masses didnt have a clue!
17. Sweet! Got a V4 head & its great. I'm sure that combo will sing GLWTS!
