Bristol/Bath Bash
is this as separate from http://basschat.co.uk/topic/253741-so-whos-up-for-another-south-west-bash/
Depends if one of our Bristol/Bath brothers goes for it & sets it up? Jim has kindly offered to organise a SomersetSW ish again but its only me & you who have punted some dates for him to work with. I'd go to both if at all possible as its a fine way to spend an afternoon!
  9.
+1. That's exactly what we do. I wonder what the 'promoter' would have thought if we had turned up without the toms and kick!
+1 our drummie does the above after being caught out by "drum kit provided just bring breakables" before. One was just shells nowt else!
  10. Got a gig on 30th may, apart from that calendar is dissapointingly clear ;-)
  11. Ashcott is about 4 miles west of glastonbury on the A39. Also about 6 miles from junc23 of the M5. I'm only a couple of miles away so its a winner for me!
  12. Still up for a sw bash (up for a bristol/bath one too). Did phil starr ever get his cab test done? A bash would be the perfect place with the variety of kit normally on show!
  13.
The ones I've looked into going to sadly seem to have overlooked these important elements in favour of tea and cakes... Hoping to get along to the next hearts bash. Would love one somewhere accessable in Central London, but I'm too lazy to organise it...
The Dorset/Somerset bass bashes are always in a pub, gear in the skittle alley/ back room, basschattery over a pint in the bar, oo arr! Haven't made it to them all but no finer way to spend an afternoon IMO!
  14.
Recently: "I'm guessing the drummer is one of your Dads?" Chances of us letting him live that down? Nil.
:-)
  15. When the Somerset & Dorset Bass Bashers went to Crimson Guitars for set up day, those guys used plastic credit card type blanks. Easy to trim & shape. Not sure where they got them from though?
  16.
I had the opposite problem, my dad wanted to buy me a drum kit. Fortunately, after I explained that I knew people who played drums (and guitar) and it made more sense for me to play bass, he bought me a bass. Probably the best thing he ever did for me. Though I would still like the radio controlled monster truck that I really, desperately wanted at the time, and I keep dropping hints to my wife that I would like an electric drum kit.
Cool when I'd showed intent & saved hard my folks chipped in the other 50% to get me that columbus jazz copy, bless them! Got me started & hobby keeps me out of mischief still! ;-)
