1. I've just scored an Ampeg 610HLF to go with my SVT Pro II, and it seems to have a hiss coming from the tweeter. I've not used these cabs before so don't know what to expect. When the dial on the back is at zero there is no noise, but it gets progressively louder as you turn the knob. It's not massively bad, but it's enough for me to think something aint quite right. Plus to be honest, the tweeter does not seem to make much difference, but it's hard to tell with me plucking one string and turning the knob at the same time. I tried it with my GK MB200 and it was worse. Everything else seems to be fine. Any ideas anyone?
2. What did Marshal put in your cab?
3.
I did all the recovering and fabric myself. my dad made the cabinet, just from plans off the net except the design of the baffle that I wanted. A mate is a metalworker and he made the new face for the amp and the rear that you cant see here. There is a thread by me on here showing it under construction.
Looks really nice. Have you got a link for the build?
4. You might be better off using photobucket, imgur or such-like
5. Up for sale is my early Matsumoko Westone Thunder 1A. Bought on a whim as it was the first bass I had when I was 16, but it just aint getting played. Plus I'm just not fussed with active basses. Everything works as it should, lovely low action and powerful sound. I believe it to be all original, but the front strap button has been moved to under the horn. It has plenty of mojo, but is in not bad nick for a 30+ year old bass. I'll try to get some better pics up later, and it's shown without the TRC which is on the bass in real life. £150 collected or delivered within 50 miles of Sluff/London type thing. Anymore than that and we work something out. Will post with buyers garnishing. Get tomorrows classic today!
6.
Thank You Very Much. It all sounds as good as it looks too. 60s Tastic
Was this all re-covered? Where is the cab from? It looks like the front opens to store booze!
7. New (to me) Ampeg and old (well, a couple of months) Coronado.... Read all about it.. http://basschat.co.u...51#entry2371751
8. The 610 is not so unwieldy as you may think as all the hard work is done by the casters. Plus I've got an estate so it just tips up and pushes in the back. So in that respect it's easier on the back than the Matamp 212. I'm trying to engineer some handles for the head. If there were some either side toward the front then it would balance and not be too bad a lift. In the mean time I've got some leather gloves to lift it with. It's not that they make it easier, I just like the texture against me skin Mmmmm Leather Ampeg!
9. I think when the singist introduced you, you should've done a massive heavy metal bass solo for about a minute and a half. Apart from that, it's great!
10. ... and thanks to NoisyJon for the help with my feet!
11.
Glad Greg sorted you out - I don't really like recommending people in case it goes tits-up.
He was a proper Chap, and very flexible with my funny time-keeping. All the lights are glowing green now, so credit where credit is due. Did I say the cab came with a very thick fitted padded cover? Padd-mungus!
12. In keeping with the spirit of swimming against the lightweight tide, I've just put together this little beauty.. I got the head off the forum. It was bought with a known fault so I dropped it with Greg at Guitar Aid on Discreet's recommendation, as they'd fixed his Burmans. Greg was kind enough to take the head in at 10 o'clock at night as I was passing, and it would save a trip back up to London. Howz that for service! Greg has fixed her up fine for reasonable money, so this is one recommendation for Guitar Aid from me. The cab is very clean, only a couple of small marks. The head is a touch road-worn on the outside, but inside is all tickety-boo. It came with a flight case that I might junk as it's a bit knackered and adds to the tonnage. I've been hankering for an Ampeg set up after my NMA audition, so we'll see how we go. I was originally after an SVT CL, but think the Pro II better value, even though it's not as pretty. Plus it's a bit more manageable for one. I'm hanging on to the Matamp rig for now and I'll see how I feel about both rigs later on. One might go, or even both might stay. But at the moment I need to get this out the house and get it cranked
13. NOS Vox Phantoms are available from Wunjo for £995, they also had them in the Langley Guitar Center for a similar price where they were built to order. Brandoni guitars in Wembley http://www.brandoniguitars.co.uk/index.asp had bought all the existing parts from Italy and it's them putting them together. I played one in the Langley guitar shop, and I thought it was pretty nice. At the time I was thinking about getting one all in white. So, you could get a NOS one for more than £500 then this chap is asking!
14.
Wait till you see the rest of the stuff that's going
I realise the ducking stool takes up a bit of room, but the mustache twirler? NEVER!
15. Nice bit of wood there. I have to ask, you're not going to pass this on and regret it?
16. Jon sent me some screws for the feet on my SVT pro 2. Lovey guy, just what BC should be all about.

Simon bought my Maxon PT999. Smooth and hassle free. he had the money in my account as I was wrapping the thing in brown paper. Highly recommended and all that jazz!
18. What area do you live in? Some one here might be able to recommend a decent tec
19. Did you get the head new or s/h? If it was second hand it might be worthwhile getting it serviced by a tec. Could you post up a pic of the settings on the head when you think it should be grinding, and have you checked both bias lights are green on the back?
20.
I have an 'Area 51 Stealth' P bass pickup in one of mine with flats on and it is just great. For info on that and all the other bass pickups I found this: http://web.archive.o...p?category=Bass Cheers, Jon
For some reason my work-filter wont let me look at that. When you get a bit of time could you whip it out and take a few shots (missus!)
21.
True. It'll be interesting to see how the new company stacks up against the old.
Do you have any Wizard's you could start the archive off with?
