3. And this beast is equipped with the Thunderbucker 66's.. (bit low in the mix tho).. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9g6QUeoSl0
 4. Found this on YT. It's not the best, but you get the picture about the Bach TBird, and doesn't seem bad at all to me.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwHPN2MSaug
 5.
I understand that considerable pressure had been put on Gibson to reissue the NR Thunderbird and (obviously!) Gibson were having none of it, so a few members of an US bass group approached Bach to build a limited quantity of NRs to original specs (it's pointless saying '60s specs as they were only produced for a short time in the 1960s). I think there's been three different runs, slab bodies, tummy/arm-cut bodies, single/two pick up versions. If you search around, you'll see nothing but positives from people who've bought them. There have been quite a few customisation jobs...you'll find plenty of data online. To move this along, it is a bit of a victory for the small man...rumour is that Gibson wised up and off the back of the Bach runs, finally pulled their finger out and re-issued the NR earlier this year (I've got a vintage sunburst Gibson one...you can read my early traumas with it elsewhere on Basschat), so hurrah to Bach. I looked at buying one of these blanks earlier in the year, but as my carpentry skills are borderline non-existent, I just couldn't pull the trigger, along it has to be said, I'm still thinking about tracking down one of the originals at some stage. P
That's a reassuring story to read. I was thinking it might be something along the lines of the necks drop off. or such like. I had once ordered a finished NRTBird from Bach a while ago, but at the time they weren't doing PP but invoiced you with a bank transfer thingy that I never got round to doing and Bach cancelled the sale. Most people comment that the electrics are a bit cheap and things like the Pup covers are chrome plated plastic, but at the price I don't think the whole thing was too shoddy. At present the site is showing all the finished ones out of stock. As long as the body is sound I'll be happy, and I'm putting all other skill areas into Howard's capable hands. I also had some comms from Bach about the 2 piece bridge and was told they were manufactured in Japan by the factory that makes Floyd Rose's. So hopefully it will be solid enough.
 6. Bloody Hell, Phil. You pick your moments!
 7. I'm bloody gorgeous, me
 8. I don't know... You youngsters today. It sounds like your heating's on the blink. I know a good plumber if you need those radiators fixed. NURSE!
 9.
where'd the bridge come from?
Bach as well.
 10. This is great! I'm just starting a Non Reverse Thunderbird build here and I'm a bit torn between the 66 'Buckers and the Max's. Would like to know your thoughts on the 66's and please post up some sound files if you can
 11.
You got 2 in there What's KiOgon's loom though?, interested! Si
One of Spock's Beard's lesser known albums
 12. There's a few threads around here about this kind of scam
 13. Ladles and Jelly-Spoons! I'm very pleased to announce the forthcoming build of my Non Reverse Thunderbird, and even prouder to announce that she will be put together by our very own Dr Horrid, The Bass Uncle Since selling on my TBird I've been missing the old girl. I've always liked the non reverse shape, but find the modern Gibson re-issues a bit Meh. So the plan is to get one built that is a bit more full-fat. Starting with the body and neck, I've ordered an un-finished 'blank' from Bach, along with a correct two part bridge. The body is mahogany with a mahogany set neck and rosewood fret board. For tuners I'm after Gotoh GB528's And for Pups I'm putting in Thunderbucker '66's from the Thunderbucker Ranch That's it for now. Thanks to the Doc for taking this on!

 15. I just had Bob at Brookwood http://brookwoodleather.com/ custom make me a strap. Not cheap (but I had some fancy bits added), but excellent comms and quality. Plus he's in the US, so there is a customs charge, but I've got a first rate strap. Highly recommended.
 16. They were going to disguise the pacemaker as a Ric, but John Hall would not allow the medical team copyright. Gibson were kind enough to let them to use the SG design.
 17.
Just found this Oli, just for you
That's tops, not fingers.
 18. There's a nice pre-finished one on EBay at the moment that you might get sub £150 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Beautiful-Wood-Bass-Guitar-/231092563225?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item35ce30ad19
 19.
I've read the threads on Talkbass and I stand by my posts.
But you've never owned or played one?
 20. A few myths about Wishbasses I'd like to dispel
The thing that puts me off - No Truss rod. Stiff or not, in the UK climate I put money on that neck moving.
It is true the necks have no truss rod, but the solid laminate construction and neck through build makes them very stable. Mine have never budged in all the variances of British climate. The Bloodwood one he built for me would probably need hitting with a sledge hammer to get any movement,
but these are just badly made.
Not true. They aren't badly made. What they are is unfinished, but ready. The ones I have could be played straight out of the box and you would have would be a fantastic sounding instrument for very little bucks. Or you could spend a little time finishing them and have something that looks very desirable, but you would have to spend the time and money.
Looks like poo on a stick. Probably plays and sounds that way to.
Looks are in the eye of the beholder, but I think the way Wishnevski uses wood and the shapes he comes up with is very innovative. They certainly don't play like crap and the sound in conjunction with the Kent Armstrong's he has on mine would give any bass a run for its money.
Anyone can make their own to that level of craftsmanship.
Steve makes very nice feeling necks, big and solid yes, but a good standard of craftsmanship. Anyone could make anything, but the fact is they don't. But Steve does, and he does it successfully and at a reasonable price.
Utter, utter crap instruments with no redeeming features other than proving that some people will buy polished sh*t to be a bit different.
That's a fairly blunt statement. I don't think members here have a problem with being different. In fact I think it's relished and encouraged, and for that I'm glad the majority of members are not small minded. If you have owned or played a Wishbass perhaps you could give us the benefit of your experience? However I must say I for one have never bought polished sh*t, and polishing it is a waste of time. The best thing to do is to roll it in glitter. Have a look at Dave's Bass Place http://www.davesbass...efinishing.html He puts real time and effort into Wishbasses and comes out with some fantastic results.. 21. Big UFO fan here. The two badges on my coat when I was 13 were UFO and the Stranglers. Two bands with great Bassmen. My elder brother had Strangers In The Night, so we were always singing that one into the curtain pull cord in the living room. Or 'Rocks Bottoms' as I used to wail into the pretend mic. Pete's not an iconic rock bass player. He is the icon. Best wishes Mate, and get well soon
 22. Roll up, roll up! Barefaced weight at half the cost but with non of the handle issues! With a top of the line Eminence driver and beautiful looks and construction.
 23.
Can we just lose the 'this is the first time I've ever heard them' and how it's 'dull and boring' stuff please! This video is hardly blummin' representative of their body of work!! P
Alright Paul, maybe you should have posted this. Not sure if Pino is playing tho.
