1. I voted for Elias, because he bought my Thunderbird
2.
The original design had more panache ...
My Missus has got one of them, and she loves the 'tone'.
3. You might have been better off posting this in our Affiliates Forum. This is where businesses promote and sell their wares. Plus, I'm sure these are fine valves, but you are up against members who are more than savvy when it comes to the handful of factories that make them and how some might put an acoustic jacket over the usual brand markings. You're on a highway to nothing here quoting figures, certain members will keep you going round in circles all day. Good luck!
4. New Guitard? What happened to the Lady?
5. I think that would be a good idea. I'm sure it's a great amp, although I've never played one so can't comment. The questions I'd be asking are- How old are the KT88's and when was it last serviced and by whom? If a new pair of KT's are around £70, a service around £30 (not too sure about this figure), then see if he'll go for £700 and you're covered if something goes west. If it's just been done with all new valves and receipts then try to go £750, otherwise you may as well buy a new one. The KT's I've shown are Gold Lion, which are more pricey. Matamp only fit these now after QC issues with JJ's. I've still got JJ's in my GT200, they're doing fine after 3 years and a pair is £56. I sometimes think there's a bit of luck involved when it comes to getting a good set of valves. Hope all goes well, they do look a lovely head.
6. I'm not a fan of any stainless roundwound, but the strings that I was least impressed with were Rotosound Jazz Bass 77's. The worst thing about these strings was the fact that I really wanted to like them. The monel alloy is singly the best ever feel for a string that I've ever come across. It just feels lovely and soft, almost alive. They have a great sound, but the let down is the monumentally tight tension they have. I really tried to live with them, but it was impossible. I had them on my slim necked TBird and the tension kept making me think they were going to snap the bass in two. It's a real shame, because if Roto could make a low tension flat wound monel string, I'd be right on them and let the La Bellas go.
7. They retail for £988 on Thomann. I think £800 is a fair price, but not really good. Plus, how old, how much use, cosmetic condition, last serviced? If the KT88's need changing you could be in the region of £75 for a decent matched pair http://www.hotroxuk.com/genalex-gold-lion-kt88.html and this could take the shine off things. For this money, I'd want to be really sure that I wanted the amp. Have you played through it?
8. Bloody Hell! And I was just watching Herbie Flowers tell the story about the 'Walk On The Wild Side' bass line. I'll never forget listening to this track after getting lucky with Amy Sharpe when I was 17. Life changing and never forgotten http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uri6LLCZVjg Thanks for the great music Lou. Farewell to a great talent.
9. What an Iconic Basschat Bass. Won at the Bash. Made by the company that put the electric bass on the map. Modded by a member. With help from other Members. In tribute to a great Artist. Sometimes it doesn't get much better than to be around this kind of stuff.
Meh.. This just seems like w@nky nonsense from the '80's...... Lots of notes, but not much soul. I'd choose Billy Duffy over this any day.
13.
For setting a bit more 'musical', check out the Earthquaker Devices Organizer Si
Is this for guitar, or does it work for bass? In fact do all Octavers work for either bass or guitar?
14.

Meh.. This just seems like w@nky nonsense from the '80's. Bad hair, bad clothes and ugly(well not the Tele) guitars. Lots of notes, but not much soul. I'd choose Billy Duffy over this any day.
15.
I'm not in the vid because I had to visit my folks on filming day.
A likely story. I heard the camera man was worried about his lens breaking
16. I'd go through the marketplace here. You'd probably get the whole rig for your budget.
17. I've been thinking about a Ric for a while now, but wanted to try one out long term. Hence my 'Windsor Rickenbacker' thread elsewhere. Having just bought the Coronado the funds are down, but we shall see. I love the blue colours though.
18.
You're not kidding - I've just had a look and there's a fair few have sold for less than £1000 As much as Ilike the colour I think the blue may not be for me as it'll show up every little swirl & finger mark. I'd love to get my Blue Boy back.
That's lovely. But are you saying that's blue?
19. I've seen some s/h ones on eBay for silly money
