1. James bought my '62 Fiesta Red Re-fin P Bass. A total and utter Gent who I unreservedly recommend to anyone on the forum. Cheers James, and hope you have many years pleasure with the bass.
2. SOLD! Thank you for all of the inquiries, and thank you to those who have helped with authentication and advice not to let her go. But, sold she is, and sold to a Gent on the forum. Cheers!
3. Another vote here for Wunjo. I witnessed them being incredibly patient with some spotty kid who had question after question, long after I'd have told him to sling it! I quite like Regent Sounds on the other side, but it's mostly guitars, but the staff seem ok
4. I've just spoken to GAK and Andertons. Their saying the lead time is end of October.
5.
Dodgnofski, Sorry my Friend - I was reffering to the PM I made in this thread on August 30th, along with the many I have made since. I'd clearly stated my interest and that remains, although I have had no replies or messages from the seller. Kevin.
Sorry Kevin, when the sale was on hold I did not reply to any PM's. I didn't mean to be rude, I just thought this was fair. Now it's back up I'm getting back to people in the order that the messages came in. Plus I'm trying to hide all this from the boss
6.
Uh... I'd literally love to have it but... I'll never ever need half of that power in my life and the biggest cab I own is a vertical 4x10" I've made... and it's already too big for the trunk of my Alfa Romeo. Any way to compare the Matamp to Webers?
You should ask Bertbass,he's just sold one... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/210788-mywatt-200-sold/page__hl__weber__fromsearch__1
7. Thank you for the many PM's. I'm doing my best to reply in the order that they came in.
8. After much soul searching I'm putting her back up for sale. I'll try to respond to all the PM's later , busy work day.
9. A Fender Coronado in aged cherry sunburst. A vintage Ric 4001 A Barefaced 69'er
10. Cheers! She is indeed a beaut. Delivery can always be worked out. I can drop off for London and the west home counties, half way for the rest.
11.
The bad news is that Matamp are lovely people and exceptionally fine valve-amp makers, but they are utterly crap at selling / marketing / dealing with new customers / meeting deadlines / keeping customers informed.
I can understand why you might say this, but you also have to understand the nature of the Matamp beast. Jeff has entered into marketing/distribution deals in the past and has ended up being burned and loosing control of the Matamp name in foreign territories. Although they have recently been discussing distribution, I'm not party to whether this will materialize. I think Jeff Lewis is quite happy running his business as he does, Dave Green was not and left. My Matamp story has by enlarge been a good one. I found Matamp through this forum and started out speaking to a London agent, but it became ridiculous putting every question through him so I spoke to the factory direct, and they have never been less than excellent with me. I'm not sure if the London guy is still operating. His site is out there, but it's pointless speaking to him. You have to understand that Matamp are a handful of blokes in a shed in Yorkshire, and they will behave as you would expect blokes in a shed to behave. That said, if you are ordering from Matamp, the more you put in the more you get out. I should imagine if you ordered and waited for it to arrive you'd have a long wait. I got involved with mine and things went as expected, plus I got to know the guys, so there's a warm fuzziness I doubt you would get with any other Amp builder. In owning one you become a member of an exclusive club where you feel you are mates with the builders and can pop in for a cup of tea. I think for clubby forumites like us, that is a big plus. I could not say whether Matamp are the definitive valve amp or not. I love mine, but I've played Ampeg and Orange and they were pretty bloody good too. But I doubt owning one could give you that Matamp feeling. They are certainly in the top 5, and perhaps the top 3? Anyway, here's a thread on my recent experience at the factory.. http://basschat.co.u...tamp%20customer And my baby..
12. The 400 watter was built for Julian Cope I believe.
13. Sorry, only the Purple Chili up for sale at the moment.
14. Up for sale is my Purple Chili 115 cab custom fitted with an Eminence C2515 4ohm 300watt Neo driver. This cab is all but brand new. Since taking delivery it has been used a couple of times and never taken out the house. Absolutely unmarked. This is a beautiful light weight cab with a premium driver, not even broken in. It very handsome indeed in its burgundy and black with cream piping. Completely unmarked. Weight: 18.7kg. 61 cm wide, 44 cm deep and 64 cm high. The cab is ported, 4 ohm, 300 watts and the socket plate takes both speakon and jack. The retail on this cab is £550 with waiting time and a delivery charge. I'm after [s]£450[/s] £400, collection or meet halfway. Sorry, no trades.
15. I must have been the only person that traveled round the M25 last year with no problems. The jam was on the other side of the road to me, that and I got there early.. Kiss my face!
16.
In a factory
Yes, yes, yes... But this is no excuse to cover a man in cheese!
17.
If I were negotiating in buying I'd argue that Puddle Of Mud wont exactly be adding much to the value in terms of it's long term value. Also, with Ric making it hard to sell them 2nd hand that has to lower the value as well.
I didn't think RIC made it difficult to sell a genuine Ric. Just difficult to sell a non-genuine one
18. Thanks Paul. The smell alone when you open the case is worth the money
19.
If we reach 70, do we hit a Limiter?
Depends on the M25.. Shocking last year
20. I reckon the Starcaster is a bit of a dogs breakfast, where as the Coronado has a bit of pedigree, chum. I've been checking Wiki.. Designed by Roger Rossmeisl from Rickenbacker and sporting De Armond Pups a la Gretsch. It's a bass that crosses over a few boundaries into others territory. I mentioned earlier that I'd tried a few new Gretsch's, and I'm figuring this fidelitron pup is the same as would be put in a new Gretsch? Are they not the same company? I'm only saying this because the Gretsch's sounded ace, but were neck heavy long scale. On the face of it I would say they look ace and should sound fab if they are not all boxey. Lets see how she hangs?
21. I wouldn't worry about the paint work, what would you expect from an '80 bass that's been played? I'd be looking at things like the neck and any cracks forming or getting bigger at joins. Plus how is the bridge, is it lifting at the back from the body? And anyway, you are in the best position to know all this. Bass Gear in Twyford have a 4001 up for £1500 (and £1600 on eBay). It's boring old Maple glow, but the neck is superb and it sounds and plays lovely. You would get a warranty and the back up from a respected dealer, plus if you walked in with the readies you might get it for a bit less. But, you pays your extra for the after sales piece of mind. There are 4003's at the £1500 to £2000 mark on eBay that have been sitting for months. Anyone who buys off these shysters deserves to be fleeced. Plus no warranty or back up. Last month I was offered a brand spanker 4003 from Wunjo for £1500, and who knows, I could've haggled. I think a S/H 4003 Fire glow has just gone for £975, but buyer beware and all that. So here you are with a vintage Ric that you are more than familiar with, that you have had rent free for 3 years. This is what I reckon.. I think £1200 is a very good price. Good for you and good for him. If you were being exceptionally kind you may offer £1300 to include the rent. Any less than this and you will maybe feel you've put one over on your mate. I mean, I might offer him £1100, but I don't know the guy and it doesn't matter if I fall out with him. If your mate thinks £1200 is too low tell him to bear in mind that if it snaps in half the day after you've bought it, then he has the money and you have the firewood. But buy the Ric.
