Some of you might have seen my La Cab P build that is currently on its way to the UK... http://basschat.co.u...recision-build/ The truss rod nut is in the vintage position on the heel of the neck.... I'm fine with adjusting the rods on my other basses, but they are all at the head-stock. Is there anyway to adjust the rod without busting up the neck pocket, and without removing the neck? This is a Warmoth neck with graphite stiffening rods. My plan is to put on La Bella 45-105 flats.
Two musicians in the audience told me they thought I was French, because I play my Zulu funk in a Parisienne style apparently, weird huh?
It's the gloves and hat what does it. Funnily enough, I play my Parisian Funk in a Zulu style.. Naked, save the beads! -
Weird innit. The band I play about four gigs a year in you've seen twice. The band I play most often in circumstances have got in the way. Sean, I promise you, you will be a guest at a Kit Richardson gig next year
And don't forget, I heard you on the radio, and high-jacked the show with my opinion on Slough curry-houses! The cosmos will converge soon enough, and all will be revealed.. Hope all is well at Château Dale -
Promoter confusion. In a way, I am happy to go out on a massive high having played our final Kit Richardson gig of the year at the fabulous Bush Hall, and with the awesome news that we have been offered a headline there in Jan or Feb, at which we will launch the new EP and single. Kit's got a bad cold too and can't sing to the best of her ability, so I suppose it's serendipitous.
Yeah, great. Great to read this seeing as I was not there. And even if you had played tomorrow, the gig I could have made, it would have been crap. Even though it's cancelled. Blinking marvellous. It feels like I'm cursed never to see Kit and her Richardsons. -
I agree that the premise of the thread is rubbish
Agreed
but younger generations have the right to explore music without getting hounded
I agree.
And if you're riddled with jealousy and bitterness
I'm riddled with lots of stuff, I'm an adult, so it's kind of ingrained now. But it's not all bad.
then give some thought to if you had a son or daughter of this age,
That's precisely what I'm doing by not imposing any expectations on them, and allowing them to be themselves at their own speed in their own world.
The trial by fire thing is total bollocks and no, I won't endorse it, it's a shame it is entertained in this context at all.
That's the attitude that I DON'T agree with whatsoever. This kind of remark would have crushed me when I was 14 years old, luckily now I'm a bit older and understand that youngsters have the right to enjoy the right to play music without older generations stifling and critiquing their musicianship every step of the way with the 'walk the desert' talk. The part of this thread that I disagree with is the format at which he is being presented to me, frankly I think it's a massive downer when I see comments like this one. Whether it's jealousy or bitterness I don't know.
I don't care what a 14 year old would think. I just don't inhabit that world. Toughen-up sonny, life aint kind. Sorry, I'm just not standing for this crap where people come on and ask for this nonsense Jealousy, bitterness? well of course, I'm an adult, so I'm riddled with it. But I don't look for others endorsement of it. -
My point was simply that it takes time to find your own voice on any instrument.
And I agree with your point entirely -
BC's new classifieds section - your opinions please
Billy Apple replied to ped's topic in General Discussion
Feel like I'm coming in very late here, but all the same. I like the old market-place, I like how a sale can develop into its own thing and become part of the discussion The new classifieds seem just that, the classifieds at the back of the paper, but I want to read the news. However I have no problem with paying for BC membership. £20 a year? I spill more than that in ale down me BC polo on a Friday neet! -
I think this is a bit unfair. Living through life's experiences is what gives you something to say. At the moment those youngsters are developing the skills required, so that when they have lived life a little more, and have found something to say, they will be able to convey it in their own personal style. Give them a chance.
Well, life is unfair. But what I'm really wondering why this side-show carny feels it's necessary to blow his trumpet. If this lad has got it, we'll all know in time, but it won't be through a competition. Meanwhile let the talent grow in all its dimensions, and not have expectation heaped on its back. -

I don't care how good kids are at playing, that's only one part of the whole picture. I'm more interested in understanding, what you may call Soul. I just can't imagine a Child would have anything to say that would speak to me. Bring this Sprog before me when he has walked in the Desert for a while and I might survey his work. -
Would you buy a bass or amp from Tesco?
Billy Apple replied to brensabre79's topic in General Discussion
Neither. The problem is with the millions of ungrateful brats we have spawned in our modern; See it. Buy it. Lose interest in it. Throw it away. Repeat ad nauseum Modern culture and the idiots who pander to them because its easier than teaching them real values.
I'm not so sure this is a modern phenomenon. When I was 13-14 yrs I went through CB Radio, Tropical Fish, Skateboarding and an ITT Combat Radio, all of which my folks shelled out for, and I did have my moments of being a most ungrateful brat. Mind you, I stuck with the Bass.... 30 years and counting -

Another pic... I love the bridge! Just had an email from Marc, he is all but done. He is fitting all the hardware he can, he has also given her full copper shielding. Will soon be shipped from the states for me to fit the tuners, Pup and KiOgons greasebucket wiring loom. Can't wait, hoping will all be done for Christmas! BTW, decided on these knobs... -

Hey, props to GAK for coming here and asking our opinions. I've always had a good experience in there, so no complaints here. I'd like to see Laklands and Sandbergs, but how about a few crazy outsiders too? BRX will be great for suggestions on that score.
