Fender Precision bass.. help if is fake or not 1976 or 1962

This original text?.... Old Fender P Bass, Natural Finish, Looks Like A 1962 But Without Thumb Rest Or Ashtray Bridge Cover. Been Inspected By Local Fender Retailer And Confirmed As 1970's. Truss Rod Needs Adjustment As Action Is High But I Can Do This For You. Personally I Would Change The Strings And Have A Proper Set Up Done As This Was Stored For Years. Electrics Work Fine And Plays Well As I Used This At A Gig Last Week. Fender Precision bass.. help if is fake or not 1976 or 1962

It doesn't sound like this this feller is going to do the decent thing. You have given the opportunity for him to return your money, and that seems unlikely. He has clearly advertised this as a Vintage Fender, which it is clearly not. Even a private seller must describe goods correctly, and he has been fraudulent in his description. You will have legal recourse in this area. It doesn't matter what he says now, take him to a small claims court, then it up to a civil Judge. It will cost a bit of time and money, but you will get your day in court and he will have no choice in that. You never know, you'll probably get a load of us lot turning up clutching the real things as evidence! What I would do now is to write him a letter asking for a refund, and your reasons for doing so. Give him 7 days to settle. State in the letter that if you do not have satisfaction within 7 days that you will take him to court. Either he'll pay, or you go to court. -
Just bought tickets for my pal and I to go to this... The wonderful Men They Couldn't Hang are headlining, with a host of other goodies to remember Joe. Any other BC'ers going? Hope to see you there if so!

Close, but the headstock in the vid is different, as is the lower horn. Erm, well yes, if it's been butchered. -

As a Matamp owner, I'll apologise if my earlier post was could be seen as witch-hunting. It might be for another thread concerning Oranges claim to being made in the UK, or the whole PCB/Hand-wired thing. But at the end of the day it's what-ever floats your boat, and the AD200's I have played through have always sounded great. I also think the OTB is a great bit of kit, and is well respected and used by forum members (erm, once they have swapped the gain-y valves). And I also recall members getting good service from customer back up. But, still I can't wait to have a try on Matamps new 500 hybrid Hope this redresses the balence
Banana milkshake colour for me
Everytime I read this comment it makes me think about milkshake. I especially keep thinking about a nice vanilla one with dark chocolate pieces. To the point that I've got ice cream out the fridge and stuck it in the microwave. Damn my subliminally led brain! -
If you are going to buy a new Orange, you may as well spend the money on the real thing and buy a Matamp GT200. They have just had a revamp so it just keeps getting better. Any valve head is going to be heavy, IIRC the Marshall is the heaviest, the Orange and Matamp may be even, but the Matamps' transformers have been upgraded (as in bigger) so is probably the bigger of the two. If it's lightweight valves you're after have you considered the Orange Terror Bass? Or indeed the new Matamp 500w digital hybrid with valve pre and valve driven DI? It should be available soon and is currently in testing at the prototype stage. Edit: forgot to say, the joy with Matamp is customer service If I call them up, I actually get to speak to the guy that built my amp.

Buy a Wishbass, you'll never have a truss rod problem for the rest of your days
Another good one for Dick Venom & The Terrortones. Weirdsville at The Fiddler's Elbow in Camden. Headliners THe Jackets had to pull out of the gig due to their drummer being refused entry into the UK, which meant that it was just us and The Felines. However that allowed us to go on a bit later when the pub had filled up. A couple of the songs didn't go quite as planned, but nothing too noticeable and got a good reaction from the crowd. Mr Venom was all over the venue as usual although that did result in some mic lead problems later in the the set. I think we'll need to be looking into wireless adaptors for his mic. Sold plenty of CDs and other merch and met Basschat's Billy Apple. Wierdsville video'd the gig... Stayed to watch the Felines who were excellent, although disappointed that Jackets were unable to play. Got home at 3.30. Tired but happy.
An excellent gig, Mike. To all BC'ers, if you've not caught Dick Venom yet, put them to the top of your list to go see. You'll have a rockin' good time

La Cabronita 'Porazzo' Custom Precision Build
I think you need to google "flip paint". My now red Gus used to be flip purple/green. Because of the way the paint works it has to be sprayed in a single pass and you can't retouch otherwise you get patches that may flip in the opposite direction which somewhat spoils the effect. It also doesn't seem to be as hard wearing as more traditional paint - certainly on my bass the colour had started to flake off in patches which is one of the reasons I had it refinished.
That's the stuff! Tell you what, BRX, if I was to start another build I'd seriously consider the candy apple red you have on your Gus. It's the business! -
... or his lawyers! I think it would be cool to turn her into a white heavy relic.
Nissan and Honda both had some freaky colours, the Nissan Primera came in a weird purple/green that really depended upon the light to see what it was and the CBR400RR had a black/purple option which was rather good. Just putting them out there for interest really. I've no idea how well they would work on a bass though.
You can have a suit made in material called 'Tonic', that has the same effect. Was popular with the Mods, but I googled 'tonic paint' and didn't find it. -
I don't know much about Rics. Is this a real or a copy? How did it get like that? Bit of history, please?
