Great read looking forward to further instalments. Did you finally settle on black?
I did, yes. Matte black. I was very close to going pink, but I kept seeing her in my head as black. -
Bluebass? I've used him before, and I contacted him first, but he didn't have any at the time?
The very same. He had about 4 when I got mine, but I just had a look and he's got nothing at the mo. I think he gets them in batches and they don't hang around long. You can see a bit of it in The Greeks sig above!
Yeah! I just bought a Mighty Mite neck from the states, it cost me £68.13 + £30.88 pp, and then got a bill for duty of £32. So all in, it cost me £130, which is a lot, when you consider I only paid around £70 + £5 pp, when I managed to find one over here not so long ago. I have managed to get a jazz body in once 'duty free', but it seems that they hardly let anything in free now, even low-cost items like strings.
There you go. I bought a new MM P neck from a UK guy on the bay and IIRC it was £95 all in.
There's a couple of Americans listing nice straps at the moment - very reasonably priced too - I'd prefer to give my money to somebody in the UK though..
Trouble is when it arrives in the UK there will be additional duty to pay, plus a £13 fee to parcelfarce for paying the VAT on your behalf. So the deal can often not be quite so sweet.
-
Trying not to sound obvious, but are you on Ebay.com or Ebay.co.uk in the address bar? If you are on the UK site it will always give UK listings first followed up by international (or US) listings. You can further filter on the left as previously said.
Starting a simliar build here..I've been playing SCPB's for a while, and switched the stock Fender (in this case a 51 RI CIJ) to a side by side Fralin to get rid of the noise. This pickup sounds more like a standard P bass pickup, and while it gets rid of the buzz from stage lights etc, it doesn't sound the same as a single coil. After seeing what the people who play esquires do..I decided to get a seymour duncan cs, which is a stacked vertcal HB that fits in the same place. It has 4 wires, one for each coil, and I am experimenting with a "tone control" that allows you to have eithe single coil or humbucker or a blend between the two. I thought I'd toss this in here, even though you've committed to the Jones pu. I still haven't heard one set up in a proper fender bass.
Hi John, Sorry I missed this post, but thanks for the input. The whole thing with the TV Jones is relatively new to me too. All I can say is when I played the CS La Cab it looked and sounded fantastic. Creamy and rich as I remember (It's been a while since this build started). It seems like the finish line is in sight and hopefully this will be a wonderful Christmas present to myself! -
I don't get those rockinbetters :-(
I never did 'till I tried one. Very playable, I liked the neck and an excellent finish. Horses for courses though.
Status Streamline 5, with full bling an' t'ing.
You look cool as Rockin' it in that shirt! Hope to see you gents in Uxbridge next Friday

+1 on this. I was down there the other day and I was given free range to plug in and play what I wanted. They also offered me a very good deal on a Rockinbetter. Denmark St often gets a slagging so it's only fair to give credit where credit is due.

It's about time Paul had a haircut. What's that thing Jack's holding?
-
I've got one for sale if you are interested. Chrome, had it since new was from my Mike Dirnt P.
-
The price on the ticket was £499, and they offered it to me for £440 plus some strings if - took it there and then. Not a bad endorsement for Wunjo I reckon.

I don't know how they get away with it, but I was in Wunjo on Denmark St the other day and I had a play on a fire-glo(?) one. I don't know much about Rics, but for the price they were asking (£440 plus a pack of strings) I thought it was excellent. Played very well, sounded good, looked great and the finish was superb for a guitar of that price. And I'm sure you could get it for less of you shopped around. I would really have to think long and hard about parting with an extra £1K+ for the real McCoy. I was very very tempted and spent a good hour walking around the West End to get rid of the GAS! Has anyone AB'd a Ric and a Roc? I'd be interested in what Ric aficionados have to say. Edit: from what I understand Ric have only been able to copy-write to head-stock. Maybe the Roc is slightly different?
I was just having fun with these guys.
Class. BTW, I was in Tunbridge Wells today. That round you're way?

They seem to be having a bit of a laugh and getting out the house, which is no bad thing. They seem tight enough (musically speaking), and I've heard a lot worse, so more power to there elbow!... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sTeNVJhpSg

It is very nice, but do you think worth the money? What is the rare part, the model or the finish?
