South East Bass Bash No.6, Surrey, Saturday 29th September 2012

Shameless plug for a Matamp 212 I've got up for sale that will be at the bash.. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/187890-fs-matamp-212-custom-cab/ -
Not at all, someone local wants it,no trickery here, nothing wrong with Ebay either, you can find good bargains if you know what your looking for,and also some rough ones!
No worries. In the spirit of Bonhomie, I have to say that I'm very interested in this piece, although with my La Cab build in progress, I just can't justify another Bass. Saying that, with your Bass in mind I was checking out Danelectro's in Wunjo on Denmark St. today. No Longhorns, but I had a shot on a Hodad Bass and was mightily impressed with the tone and playability.

FOR SALE One 4ohm 400watt Matamp 212 custom built cab in black basket weave tolex with white piping and salt n' pepper grille cloth. Loaded with Celestion BL12-200-X drivers. SPECS 4ohm 400watt and loaded with these bad-boys.. http://celestion.com...ct/39/bl12200x/ 73cm high, 55cm wide, 37cm deep 29Kg The cab is not ported, but not technically sealed/infinite baffle due to the removable rear panel. Jack connection, but Matamp can send Speakon if required. PICS SPIEL I had two of these cabs custom built for me along with my GT200. I have to be honest and say at the time I was suffering from a 'I want a proper valve amp with two cab rig' mid-life crisis. So I eventually had the head and cabs delivered which stood 5'10" in my living room! Whilst full-filling my boyhood fantasies (well, one anyway) I have never utilised the rig with both cabs, and one of them is as good as unused, and has stayed un-touched in my lock-up. Absolutely great sounding, but I only need one, so I'm letting one go, and you will get the unused cab. (TBH both cabs are immaculate). Essentially you will be getting a brand new cab. It is beautifully crafted by Jeff Lewis at Matamp, very old school in style and sound with the Ferrite Celestion drivers. The drivers are not standard for the 212 and were custom fitted for an up-charge. As was the grille cloth which is a cotton two strand weave not horrible skinny nylon (like you'd get on a costlier Hiwatt cab). Cheers!
That's for me to know, and you to wonder.
Fair enough, Squire. Now I'm wondering if this is a duff technique to get someone reaching for their wallet thinking time is running out. Like Ebay, or some such nonsense. I guess we'll never know. Anyway, good luck with the sale.
By all means flame me if required, but as there will be guitars in the drum room, if anyone has a Gibson LP they could bring I'd like to AB it with my TS Epi LP.
I've got one I could bring, but it's not pink. Will that make a tonal difference? -
I had one for Xmas 4yrs ago. I used it for about 5mins for each hand for about 6 months. I didn't notice any significant change, but that wasn't the reason why I stopped using it. I looked like a pleb using it and folks were taking the mick out of me! Not as bad as this bloke though...
Why do people always think that any kind of style must be detracting from the substance? Surely style and substance should be equal?
You can say that because you have both in spades. Not everyone is quite so lucky, well, apart from me that is!

Is it an overhanging fretboard a la Warmoth?

The Guitard next to you destroys any semblance of cool with his choice of leggings, plus the first pic is black and white, and therefore looks way cooler. By the way, my bass is going the opposite direction. From slinging it around my knees, it's currently just above belt height, and take it from one who knows, you can get busier with less wrist strain the higher it is.

La Cabronita 'Porazzo' Custom Precision Build

Work is just about to start on routing the body. I've had Marc advising me on layout and edge radius. Whether to go for a 1/8" (Dusty Hill Custom) or the slightly larger 5/32" (La Cab) edge. I'm going for the 5/32" with an forearm and belly cut. Marc has a great attention to detail and a fabulous wealth of knowledge, all of which is very reassuring when the work is being done so far away. If I have a question or a change of spec all my emails are responded to within 24 hours, and often within 12. It's all good stuff. After so long, it finally feels like things are coming together! -
Why don't you email them and ask what the unboxed playing weight is? Get them on.. Have to say, I love light weight basses
Blast me and my attemtps at making it all scientific! Fool that I am, lets just pick a few rigs at random, eat donuts and compare them, much more fun, you're right! I shant bring the dB meter then either (phew its 'somewhere' in the studio, no idea where!)
The question that does need answering is which bass plays most like butter? I've heard this 'plays like butter' line bandied about on BC, and it's about time the butter issue was put to bed once and for all. So Simon, you crazy scientific fool, forget your dB meter, your spindlydoofer and foofoo valve, just don't forget to pack your Butterometer. -
Apparently we can have up to 13 amps before the fuses blow ...
I can bring another plug board if we only have the one -
I don't mind folk coming on a FS thread saying 'Love this, but no funds'. It shows their appreciation of the item and generally jollies the sale along bump-wise. It's good to have third parties giving props to your stuff, and I'm sure makes buyers feel better. What gets my goat is folk who aren't interested/buying, but feel compelled to comment in a negative matter. I think if you've nothing positive to add, then bugger off.

La Cabronita 'Porazzo' Custom Precision Build

These are the two knob suggestions so far.... I like the finish and knurl on the top pic, but I'm not too keen on the rounded dome. I really like the squat flat top style of the one on the left above.
