Lovely, worth it after all that running about! I'd be interested to hear whether those Lloyds Pharmacy preamps are any good. Some say they're a bit sterile.
. You wanted to see his Vintage Modified Yorkshire Tea box -
What does the greasebucket do?
This is what Ou7shined had to say in an earlier topic I'd posted..
To call it a circuit is a bit much. It's basically just a resistor and a cap added to a standard circuit to create a sort of simulated high pass and low pass filter to prevent muddiness. Highway 1 styleee.
-

Hi Kiwi, How does Basschat go about appointing new moderators? Do members put themselves forward, or do you approach members privately? Has there been a vote that I've missed?

Parcel Force attempted delivery yesterday. I thought they would have left it with my local sorting office, which is two streets from me, but no, they returned it to the depot in Acton, where it would be waiting for me. At 1pm today I drove 20 miles the depot, getting there at 1.30pm, only to be told the parcel had gone back on the van, and delivery had been re-attempted at 1.15pm NNGGGNNGGNN!!! I've just got home to find the note thru the door. Mind you, this time they have said it's been taken to my local Post Office, so I'm off down the High St for the next instalment! -
I thought I'd like these, but I don't. Look a bit Frankenbass to me. The mid scale makes them look dumpy and the bridge pup destroys the aesthetic.
I've spoken to Wish about this, he has had no reports of other wood from the 100 board feet that came from having worms, but maybe people consider it a 'feature'. The thing I thought was selling turns out not to be, so I'm not buying this immediately like I thought I was, but still might.
Do you think the wood-worm are from the UK, after all they appear around the break. If this bass was lacquered, then the break in transit exposes the naked wood to nasties? Possible?
Oh dont worry, you wont even realise its happened until your next gig, first track, you'll be there expecting some classy fingerstyle, when all of a sudden your thumb will take complete control and you'll find yourself doing a passable impression of Mark King....
What!? I loose my hair and shrink by 3 feet?! You, Sir, can keep your slapping! -

Paid the Parcel force bill today. Should have a TV Jones Thunderblade tomorrow . Actually, no, there should be a card put through my box tomorrow, and I'll pick it on Wed from the sorting office after work. -
It does not look like the break is across the nut, so that's not so bad. Wishbasses sound fantastic, I should know, I've got two of them. But for any buyer they must be seen as a project... Maybe make her headless with a tune-y bridge, who knows? You can do some really nice stuff with them.. http://www.davesbassplace.com/DavesBassPlace/Refinishing.html And she's a 10th anniversary Hipper... Cool! Good luck with the sale!
Heh! But there already exist many with that colour scheme, albeit in a limited edition... personally I'd go for something unique, unless of course you want people to think you've bought a £2,500 bass... Which is fair enough. Here's another thought... hi-gloss dakota red with black pickguard.
Your post has got me thinking about the whole custom build/real thing dilemma. It would never cross my mind to try to pass off this build as a CS Fender, I think people in the know will know exactly what she is. Also, as I said I hope this will be better than the Fender. I don't give a monkeys about what people think I've paid for anything. To tell you the truth Mark, I could have bought the Fender, but my natural 'scale' thought it too heavy on price, although now I'm paying in waiting time, taxes, fees and finishing costs. She will cost less than the CS, but by how much? Enough to make it worthwhile? I'm not sure at the moment. And if I was to sell her on, I'd have a greater depreciation than the Fender, so in a sense, why bother? I suppose why I (and yourself) would bother is you get what you want, and not a 50-75% hit ratio of what you like and what you don't like. Plus, I want her to be the one I keep and pass on to the next generation, so I don't consider after-sales issues. I know exactly what you mean about building something unique. But the black body looks ace, and I suppose I can't help it if Fender feel the same way too.. At the moment she will be black, although the pink is still on the back burner. Dakota Red!? Black Guard? Get out of town! -

Just had the 'Payslip' style note through the door from Parcelfarce. Tore off the three edges to reveal £20 VAT and £13.50 clearence fee. I'm not fussed about the VAT, fair enough, but the 'fee' is taking the piss, over 50% of the VAT charge? Come on! It must be the Pup, so I've been like this for the rest of the weekend.. -
Apparently they now feed you burnt toast, to scrape the wound, and encourage it to heal quicker But my freezers gonna be packed with ice-cream for the two weeks off work I`ve got to take after the op
Hi Lozz. Just to derail the thread a bit here, I had my tonsils out as an adult. The reason for me was I was always getting tonsillitis, and also being run down with general malaise. From what I understand you tonsils act as a filter for your white blood cells, but mine were so badly infected over a number of years that they were putting sh*t back into the system instead of taking it out. So they had to go. OK. The ice-cream is a myth. I got dry toast and tea, then they try to have you up and out ASAP. The operation itself is not too terrible, but I was good and f***ed for at least two weeks after. I was told that the general anaesthetic was more risky than the op itself, and it felt like 6 months to me before it was out my system. Seeing as your tonsils are part of your immune system, it takes about a year for the whole thing to stabilise, well it did for me anyway. The main thing is.. Have someone to collect you after the op and take you straight home. Have someone to take care of you for at least two weeks, you will be knackered Do what the hospital tell you Sorry, but lay off the dairy, simple carbs and proteins, it's nowt to do with having a sore throat, but more about restoring the balance in you lymphatic system And that's it. Hope this helps.

The tuners arrived today, was all exited 'till I discovered they'd sent FB3's instead of GBR640's, so in a grump about that. I bought them through ebay, but from a shop using pay-pal. I've emailed them, so hopefully all will be sorted. On the plus side the circuit from KiOgon has arrived. It was very originally packed in a Yorkshire Tea box, which Royal Mail had a good try to get any left-over tea-bags out. But the buggers failed and now I'm the proud owner of an exclusive to BC KiOgon Greasebucket tone circuit -
This is from our Transglobal Underground London Zulu gig at Passing Clouds in Dalston a couple of weeks ago. It's a bit hesitant at the start as we were rather distracted by my bass subs rattling one of the PA flyers, got it pretty much sorted quickly though. It was a great night, really lovely crowd too. A top, top gig

You have to scroll right down the bottom to find answers. I don't know much about reddit, my mate sent me the link. I thought other BC'ers would understand the format better than me. I'm just passing it on to a wider audience, and I'm a big priest fan
